I've told this story before so I'll apologize if people have heard it before.

Maybe 5 years ago a good friend of mine's daughter was a mousekeeper at the Yacht club. She ran into some trouble because they had, had cutbacks and because of it the mousekeepers where really moving to get their job done. the old "do more with less people".
Anyway, she had an issue with a guest who literally stalked her every morning and threaten her job if her kids did not have "towel animals". first she tried telling her that she was new and really did not know how to make them, then she tried to explain that her job was first to make sure the room was clean.

She has horror stories about guest leaving nasty notes, complaining to the front desk about not receiving them and treating cm's like indentured servants all in the name of a piece of cloth.

I find that people "say" this stuff doesn't matter but for some reason we turn into different animals when we think some one has gotten "some thing" more than we did.

Can't tell you how many times people use the " you know how much I paid for this vacation" line on her.

I use to tell her, I would leave the room filthy dirty and place a bunch of towel animals on their unmade bed with a note saying "didn't get time to do my job but here's your requested towel animals" :lmao:

Of course I will never ever work a job that requires direct contact with the public. been there, done that.

This is what is wrong with these boards. People come to expect things like towel animals. Really?

The OP didn't say she expected them, she simply posted a poll asking if people would pay for them. Relatively speaking, only a minority even responded that they think they should be included in the price.

We all know there are entitled people in this world who think they are owed whatever they desire (as evidenced by the stories on here) but the majority obviously don't.

Actually this is what is wrong with these boards! People looking for any reason to gripe about another person's post. Really?

Now to answer the OP - they are cute but I certainly don't expect them and nor would I pay for them. They aren't that magical to me.

I put no way waste of money.

If you have to pay for pixie dust it's not really pixie dust. Be happy when you get it. And no whining when you don't.

Leaving a nice tip for the maids the first morning MAY increase your chances of getting a towel animal. I know on cruises every time we leave a small tip on a towel animal, the next day we get an even bigger and better towel animal.

It really does not at the resorts. We tip well and sometimes get them, sometimes not. They are a fun surprise but there is no way I would pay for them.

I'd rather they spent the time cleaning the rooms instead of making towel animals. Plus it's a waste of good towels. Especially when people think they are a gift from the housekeeper who used good Disney property to make them.

The housekeepers are not required to make them but Disney does endorse the practice. I stayed at CBR and there was a large table set up with the mousekeepers making them and handing them out to guests. I think if Disney considered this practice a waste of time and "good Disney property" there would not be any.

They are like any of the other Disney "gifts". A little bit of extra once in a while. I'll tell you what, I don't expect them but my DGD sure does enjoy them. For a little investment of maybe .50, Disney gets my repeat business. Not because they gave me a little surprise in my room, but because they go a little above what my expectations are. One day it is a towel animal, another it is a little pin for my DGD to share with someone else, and another, a Main Street Lady is organizing a personal parade for my DGD. Where else does this happen? Beats me becasue we generally end up spending our vacation dollars in Disney.

That is just horrible.

And I vote no way. Towel Animals don't matter to us. A clean room does.

No way would I pay more for towel animals. They are cute and all but not worth any more money from me.

Uh, no.

Our family is probably in the minority, but we don't like towel animals. Whenever we get them, we're always like "WTH are we supposed to do with this thing?" :confused3 :lmao:

Despite this (or maybe because of it -- maybe Disney's messing with us ;)) I swear to you we ALWAYS get them.

I could care less about towel animals and would never pay for them. I could use that 20 dollars a million other ways but not for an animal made out of old towels and washcloths. I never got the fascination with them.

No, I wouldn't pay for them. Part of the joy is the surprise of getting one. If you could pay for them it would just be a commodity rather than some pixie dust.

No way, that $20 a night sure would add up. $100 more on a 5 night stay? :crazy2: I'd rather buy a stuffed animal!

No, I would not pay extra for a towel animal. We have gotten them before and it was nice but no way would I pay extra. I agree with Sue M, I'd rather add to my disney stuffed animal collection:thumbsup2

I think it is interesting the price point they picked for this poll - 20 dollars. Maybe 1 or 2 dollars per day? I would possibly consider it, particularly if we could pick just a day or two. Or maybe have it as part of a "deluxe room decorating" package, similar to what you can already order - instead of the 200 dollar "birthday celebration" or "valentine celebration", maybe just a more limited 20 or 30 dollar "extra room pixie dust", with towel animals, maybe some coloring books/crayons for kids, maybe a puzzle, etc. (and maybe some very limited beverage/snack options)?

If everyone came to expect them ALL THE TIME and the Mousekeeping did them ALL THE TIME, it wouldn't be pixie dust, now would it? Part of why towel animals are fun is because you don't get them every single day..... I don't understand why someone expects them and when they don't get them, their vacation is ruined. :confused3

It's a towel...in the shape of an animal....go to the park and have fun and make family memories! ;)

I have to agree. Even on my solo trips, one where I never even went to the parks, and I had some amazing moments that I have remembered a lot longer than towel animals. Why do people expect to be entertained, and not entertain themselves.

I don't think anyone is really expecting them. I personally am ok if I don't get any but I haven't read anything here that says they expect them.

$20 PER night:eek:

I will make you a deal, I will sell you the 10 or so that we have at a basement bargain price of just $15 each. But wait that's not all! Act now and I will also send a complimentary bag of H2O shampoo's and conditioners! WHAT?? There's more? Yes! Along with your order you will receive a batch of Mickey head soaps:)

Sorry, just having some fun. I could not resist:lmao:
