DeeDee said, "The clear winner was the banana bread french toast. It was amazing! I'm so glad I started with the eggs because I would have been hard pressed to share it!!"








"DS received a giant cupcake for his birthday. This was a really good breakfast!!"



And speaking of which...


HAPPY 8th BIRTHDAY to DeeDee's son!!!

Hannah said, "Les Halles for the first quick service of the day. A ham cheese baguette, napoleon and an iced tea. The baguette was as good as I remember from our last trip but the napoleon was not as flaky as I was expecting, still pretty good though!"

"DS had the Tavern Fried Cheese as his birthday lunch. DD had macaroni and cheese..."

"DH and I selected the Colony Salad and the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries."






1/2 share of Colony Salad - Washington apples, sweet pecans and applewood smoked cheddar, dried cranberry Craisins, and grilled chicken tossed with field greens in honey shallot vinaigrette






1/2 share of Bacon Cheeseburger & Fries


"We split them and the kitchen was kind enough to serve them already halved. The burger was good. The fries here are akin to the The Plaza in that they are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, almost like eating the inside of a baked potato with the extra "crisp" bonus. I love the Colony Salad. The medley of flavors from the greens, chicken, apples, cranberries, and nuts if just about pitch perfect."






"The big surprise of the meal was the birthday I had pre-ordered from the Contemporary Resort's bakery. The Pirates of the Caribbean themed cake was literally AMAZING!! All of the decorations were edible with the exception of the beads on top. The cake itself is chocolate with chocolate buttercream and chocolate ganache under the outer layer of fondant. The cake also tastes heavenly! It's far more than I anticipated or expected. I think DS was blown away."


"As an aside, my TIW card was used for a 20% discount on the cake."

I recently found this thread and just finished reading through it last night! It's amazing! Thank you for all of the hard work that you put into it! We are planning a trip in October and this has been a great planning tool for me. I am in charge of making ADRs for 11 of us! We have been to Disney many times but this thread has me considering some new restaurants! I totally understand if you don't continue the thread but if it is still going in October my family, consisting of myself: Jen, my DH, DS10(turning 11 on our trip), DD7, inlaws and cousins, will be there from October 4-13 and I would be happy to contribute.
Thanks for spreading some Disney Magic everyday!

It sure does! I don't think I've been to the HDDR since 2001. Have you ever been? Maybe we should add it to the (ever-growing) list of possible locations for December DISmeets???

Hi Jen! Thank you so much for posting this. It's comments like yours that keep me going with this thread. I'm so glad that you have found this thread to be a valuable tool for your trip planning and hope that it will continue to be helpful to you through at least August. Not sure if I will continue with it after that, but if it is still going in October then I would love to have you contribute as a live reporter.

"I had the BBQ pork sandwich and baked beans. It was a big sandwich and worth the price. My husband had the BBQ chicken platter with baked beans and cole slaw. We enjoyed the lunch very much and had a great view of the Tower of Terror!"

"This was even better than I had been imagining! It was like a warm chocolate chip cookie with ice cream, caramel, and toffee bits."








"DSis had the [NSA] raspberry sorbet with fresh berries. She was very happy with this."

Boatwright's Dining Hall


Dee said, "DS's birthday dinner pick was Boatwright's at POR."



First a pic of the Beverage menu...





"They are one of the few places on site that offer fresh brewed sweet tea."




And the Kids menu...






"DS and DD had chicken nuggets and fries. Despite the fact that his choice was not listed on the Kid's menu, it was accommodated with no problem."









"DH and I had the tenderloin medallions with macaroni and cheese and asparagus."





"The entire entree was delicious, the steak was tender and very flavorful and the mac and cheese was so yummy. It was a great accompaniment to the steak."


"They serve a really good dense corn bread. DH and I were hungry so we had two pieces each, which sadly left no room for dessert."


"In my opinion Boatwright's is a hidden gem, though I don't know how hidden it is anymore. In the past few visits it has become much busier."
