When do you change for dinner?

Do you wear the same clothes to the show as you wear to dinner? Or do you change between dinner and the show? Haven't thought about this before, but the sleeveless thread made me think of it!

We usually changed before the show and wore the same clothes to dinner (we had late seating). We wanted the time in between to wander around, take in the atmoshpere, grab a cocktail and watch the characters.

We have had early seating, so we go to the show after dinner. If it is cruise casual, I am probably in capri's and nice blouse, so I keep it on. If it is formal/semi, chances are I am changing right after dinner into capri's.

Choice is yours. Our routine is spending the day by the pool or in port or doing whatever activities we want. We go back and shower, get ready for evening and head out. We always want late seating so we are dressed and ready to go for the early show. Between show and dinner we may shop, get a drink at a lounge, see a game show, etc. We usually don't return back to our cabin until we are ready for bed.

We have early dining and usually just stayed dressed for the show afterwards. I do usually stop by the cabin and put a cardigan or sweater on. I'm never cold in the dining room but it always seems to be freezing in the theater!

On cruise casual days/nights we pretty much just wear what we had on during the day to dinner (we do early dinner/late show) and the show. We aren't sit around the pool types, so we didn't have our swimsuits on all day. I generally carry a sweater with me as I find the interior spaces on the ship chilly.

On our Hawaii cruise the WDT was icy, I mean people (including me) were bringing blankets from their rooms/the adult pool area to wrap up in during the show.

For formal nights we dress for the evening (dinner/show/after show drinks and entertainment).

My friends on all our other cruises picked early dining, and I just honestly was late on just about every port day (except when we had to leave Nassau at 1:30pm...which is lame) but anyway this time my dad booked the DCL with the 2nd seating, which is how our family normally goes, and I think I will have to insist on it.

It still is very rushed to come back at 4:30-5 and be ready for a dinner and show (and trying to fit Aquaduck in there while you still have your swim stuff on). But at least I could walk around the ship with some damp hair if I wanted (better than going to dinner that way.) The first night, the Golden Mickey's finished at 7:15 and we went back and had some predinner drinks on our veranda before dinner at 8:15. Turns out if you don't have time to completely get ready for dinner, you can still come back after the show (assuming you have late seating, which is what I'm referring to in this post.) However, the last night, we crammed in princess photos and a little bit of disney trivia in the Dlounge just before dinner and after the show, so it worked out to be ready already if that makes sense. There are still plenty of activities at that time 7:15-8:15.

One more reason I plan to request late dining for every cruise from here on out. On all our early dining trips, we eat and then go to the show and sit down. And its lights out for me. I get SO VERY tired especially after splurging on some of the 'finer' dinner food. However, if I sit down for the show, it's usually after a busy port day (at least on a 3 day cruise, it is!) and it was nice to relax with an exciting show, and then head down to a nice dinner. It was kind of a good way to warm up the evening. But the best part was that afterward, we would go to the DLounge for Fiesta dancing, or pose in Princess photos, or sing karaoke and walk around etc. I never got tired on this cruise! I was able to stay up til 1:30 most nights! I really think the difference is getting up and walking around after dinner.

It's going to be second seating for me from here on out. Get ready about 5:30 for show, do some activities or take some character photos, and then head to enchanted dinner, and enjoy the rest of my night with some fun games and karaoke or a little shopping, and don't even get me started on the fun pirate night after dinner.

When the kids were younger, they would change for dinner, then change out of their "nice" clothes for the "in between shows" and the main show in the WDT.

We still usually have early / main dinner seating so we get cleaned up before dinner and stay in those clothes for the rest of the evening. If its formal/semi formal or Palo night and I'm wearing a tux, I will usually change before the main show in the WDT (don't need any accidents on the tux).

Also, I was impressed that for not having a dress code officially (like a designated formal night etc), everyone looked really well put together. I have seen people on Carnival fancy nights in much more disarray than the 'casual' Disney cruisers. Everyone looked good all the time, in what was well arranged and comfortable to them. We wore sun dresses, and I even wore an a-line knee high 'fancy' dress for taking princess photos and to wear to our Royal dinner night, and I never even felt over dressed. Plus there were 'princess' and ruffly dresses everywhere, like the parks, which was cute. I wore a brightly colored dress for the Animator's night, and the princess sillouette (but just knee length) to the royal dinner, so that I could coordinate my outfits for each restaurant. Mom wore nice gold jewelry and a gold sweater to the royal palace dinner, looked very nice. Nothing was ever formal though. The only night I didn't get to wear my floral sundress to the Enchanted Garden was because it was Pirate night and everyone was pirate ready by 6:00 pm! So pirate dinner it was!

And Disney must be the only place where it is totally normal to sing an Alicia Keys karaoke song in full pirate regalia with a boned corset and cavalier hat and it be completely understandable. Ah..no wonder I love DCL so much...

Ok. Now all my previous Pirate night festivities seem dull.

DW and I always do late seating and stay dressed after the show. I think there was one or two occasions when we were running late from the days activities and we went strait to the shutter then got a quick change in before dinner.

We always do the late diner seating. We generally dress for the show and then wonder about the ship, take some pictures, or just have a drink and people watch. In the event that we get back to the ship on the late side from a shoreside excursion and don't have time to change cloths before the show there's usually enough time to grab a quick shower and change in between the show and the late diner.

We have early seating and are changed by 5 so we can get pictures in the atrium with the characters most nights, or family shots. We don't change before the show. The kids usually run to the room and change before going to the club after the show. We will change if we are going to the movies or club that night.
