Senior Solo Trip

I have been thinking about taking a last minute solo trip to DW in the next week or two....
I have been there many times in the past, but have always traveled with extended family of kids and grandkids..... this would be my first trip on my own.

I feel comfortable enough doing most things on my own, but just wonder if there will be anyone else in my circumstances (mature single female) who might be interested in joining up for afternoon coffee break, late lunches or after dinner drinks/entertainment?

Or if you've done a solo trip as a "senior", I'd appreciate any hints or suggestions....My main focus will be the Flower and Garden Festival - I've been wanting to do this for years, but it doesn't fit in with the rest of the family's schedules, so I'm determined to do it alone!

Thanks for your input.

I'm looking forward to my next solo senior (female) WDW trip in a couple of weeks, for Flower and Garden, and ending with Star Wars Weekends (altho that was just happenstance, not on purpose). Usually have at least my grandson along, or also his mom, but have gone on my own before and really enjoy it. Not sure what tips might be helpful for you, but I really enjoy it. I guess I had to travel alone so much for work back in the day that I got pretty used to it, so it's pretty easy for me (altho sometimes it's handy to have help lugging everything around, and of course it's fun to have company). I like being on my own schedule and just doing what I want to when I want to.

I've had to make some major lifestyle changes because of health things, so I won't be eating much Park food/beverages (I'm staying in a combo of a timeshare and DVC this trip), so can't help you much on that front. I have previously eaten at restaurants there alone, including character meals, with no issues. WDW is one of the easiest places to be a solo traveler -- lots of people to interact with, if you're so inclined, and pretty safe also, and of course lots to see and do.

Have a wonderful fun trip!

Hi ladies, another solo female traveler here! :wave2: I'll be in the World during the above dates, would love to meet up for coffee, drinks, etc.:coffee:

Another "mature" single woman going solo to WDW. My trip is May 7 to 13. My sister is coming 9/10, the rest of the time I was going to the Flower and Garden festival and relaxing. Maybe a quick trip to BOG for lunch. I think I would like to meet other solo Disney travelers but I am kinda shy.

senior lady here too!

been a bunch of times solo - so what do you want to know

here is information on flower/garden
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/guides/epcot/events/ep-flower-garden.htm

when are you going and where are you staying?

if you can stay at BC, BW or YC - if non-disney then Swan or Dolphin.

these are EPcot resorts and being able to walk to the f/g is a plus. Was going myself this April 20 - for a week. had to cancel. My youngest cat had to have emergency surgery - he was born with a mess up system. It should have been fixed when he was a kitten - but no one saw it. Had taken him to 3 Vets but they say he was fine. Finally took him to my older Vet - he spotted it in 5 minutes....

so did not think could go on a trip so soon.

hope you have a great trip!

Right now I am sitting in my living room, watching the snow fly outside - AGAIN! I am seriously thinking of flying into MCO on Friday, April 19 to get a touch of warmth. I want to see Village People at Epcot.

Send me a note!

Thanks to all for your responses....

You have definitely made me feel a lot more comfortable about going solo. It looks like I've narrowed my dates down to arrival on April 21 and departure on April 25 or 26.

I think I'll probably skip the dining plan this time, and just take it as it comes.... maybe just make a few ADR's for appetizers and desserts....

Send me a PM if you might be there during that time period!

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions?

"Mature" female who goes to WDW solo about once or twice a year. I've taken more than 20 trips so far, with another one scheduled in October. I'm married, but since DH still works and I'm semi-retired, I get lots more time off than him. Plus I have a bigger Disney addiction than he does! After that many trips, there isn't anything I feel uncomfortable solo (dining, character interaction, etc.). Have fun!

Well, I'm still planning on my solo trip, but it looks as though I might have to push it back a few weeks. New dates will probably be May 6 through May 10th, not quite long enough for me but I'll take what I can get!

Who else is going to be there around then? I love the idea of meeting up with another solo traveler just to break the feeling of being alone there for a whole week!

LoL Cheshire Figment .immature widowed male? :lmao: we have met and gone to Jiko etc over the past years..I never knew that, you seemed mature to me..LOL

Anyway, I wont be there those dates..but good luck..anytime else let me know..I have an AP and points..;)

I'm starting to put together my itinerary for my May trip to Disneyworld... I expect to be at Port Orleans Riverside on either Wed 5/8 or Thurs 5/9 at the River Roost to see Yeehaw Bob - anyone interested in joining up??

you will have a great time..I would love to but..I cant..

I will be semi solo May 5-11 at BLT and would like to meet up for drinks/meal. So far I have planned

May 7th No Parks, No Set Plans, Maybe Garden Tea at GF, or the Wave
May 8th Magic kingdom
May 9th Possibly DHS in AM than HOP to EPCOT or just EPCOT
May 10th Probably No Parks, Day for relaxing

Send me a PM is any of the above times match up with your plans.
