Scary times here in Boston. I work at the hospital they brought most of the victims to. It was a surreal scene, like something out of a movie. Unexplainable.

Prayers out to the victims and their families. Just awful!!

J

Just wanted to say hello to all my DIS friends tonight. A special hello to our friends in the Boston area.

And Jay I will say a special 'thank you' to you and all the folks that reach out to help people in their dark hours.

I second that, Mike.

Thank you Jay, and all of your coworkers dealing with the unimaginable.

So many heroes emerging today. Hosptial workers, police, fire, military, marathon runners donating blood at local hospitals, residents of Boston offering a room to runners who need a place to stay.

I need to keep remembering there is more light in this world than darkness.

Grateful to hear that Dee and fellow DISers are safe after a horrendous day in Boston. We know how to pull together when necessary, and it's obviously all those in Boston are doing that tonight. It's comforting to know that there is love kindness and compassion in this world too. Much love to all the emergency responders, hospital staff and military personnel involved in this tedious situation. Be safe everyone.

Today brought me back to 911. My daughter was 3 days old and having difficulty feeding. Meanwhile my friends Dad was there and no one knew anything. It turns out he was trapped in the South Tower with no chance of being rescued. Trapped with some of the same people who ridiculed him for his faith over the years. He lead many in prayer that day. They stood in a circle awaiting the inevitable. The floor was hot. My heart goes out to the victims and their families. Our prayers are with them tonight and in the days to follow.

I met Teena! I met Teena!

What a sweet lady!!!
:thumbsup2 yes, she is! Glad you had the pleasure.

I think it's basically the same old, same old, gussied up on a menu board in a new marketing attempt. The food tastes rushed, old and cold, hence the unloved nature of this location. The actual dining area is nice to sit in but a bit noisy with the TV's and the crowd noise. They have tables and chairs and upholstered benches against the wall. Since it is cafeteria seating there is no one herding you out to clear the table for the next person. On a hot day this cool location is a real respite when you just need to sit and recharge. Bringing over the better fare from Starring Rolls really helps to take the edge off as well.

:welcome: :grouphug:

I think it's all in how you think about it. AKL will still be there for the next trip so try to think of it as an adventure. I would also plan a meal at the lodge so you all can stop by and say hello to your much loved location. That's what we do when we aren't staying at the Beach Club. For our last trip we stayed at POFQ but we stopped at the BC twice, once to see Teena again and once to have Ice Cream at Beaches and Cream! I always tell myself that one day I'll be back to my favorite location, and staying at the other places keeps it fresh and exciting.

:rotfl2: :lmao: Have a great trip and enjoy the bananas!

~NM
That's what we do too. We also stayed at POFQ this winter, but went to visit BC,visit Teena, had to sleuth out a sunken treasure for you, :goodvibes...

Now you're talking :). Could you throw in a Sunken Treasure while you're at it?

Meeee toooo :p

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been asked like a thousand times. We'll be arriving in a 2BR in a few weeks and the wife wants to bring her own coffee and filters. I saw an earlier post mentioning they are mr. coffee machines that should accept standard filters (in a studio), but that the 2br are different . Can anyone confirm what is in the 2br?

Thanks,
John

I just found a couple youtube videos of a 2BR and they both showed coffee makers that will take standard filters.

:welcome: zmanandshan!

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on page 1? May trip?

As dansdad said, the coffee makers are Mr. Coffee machines and take regular, flat-bottomed filters. I think the studios have 4 cup makers and the 1 BR and 2 BR have the larger 10 cup.

So glad everybody we know on here is safe. Thanks so much for what you do Jay!!!

I too have been thinking of you all today. Take care and keep safe x

Dee- thinking of you and the rest of Boston. Glad that you and your loved ones are ok. Sad day but it is uplifting to see how Boston is reacting and fighting through this.

Just booked the Yacht club for my birthday trip! We will be there from 8/30 to 9/2 (my birthdays the 31st). Can't wait! :)

I asked on the beach club marketplace thread buy haven't received a response. I figure this thread gets more traffic, so I'll ask here. Anyone know if powerade is available on the dispensers for the refillable mugs? I'm thinking no, but wanted to check. What about sprite zero? I think these were both options at assp but can't remember if they were there when I moved to bcv. Headed down on thursday.

I just realized that I forgot to welcome you to the thread! Sorry about that!

:welcome:

I'll add you as a last minute entry to the Be Our Guest list.

Have a fantastic trip!

:cool1:

Does anyone remember what type of shower head are in the rooms at YC. We stayed at POR RR on our last trip they had huge shower heads being short it was awesome. My husband fell in love with the shower.

Does the YC have the same ones?

BUMP!!!

Anyone know? Or have a picture?

I think I know the answer to this but I am trying to craft my standard view YC room request. Opinions, pretty please?

Would you put your *preferred* location or your *avoid* location? I would like to avoid the middle section of rooms that overlook the kitchen roof. Should I say that? Or, should I say I would prefer the rooms over the YC entrance and, if facing the front, to the right of the entrance? Thinking of saying "quiet pool side of building" which, while I know there are no standard rooms facing toward the quiet pool would still indicate the direction where I would like to be. Bad idea? I could keep it simple, like, "parking lot view, not roof, please"?

I realize room requests posts are wildly unpopular and I realize there isn't much knowledge about YC's non CL standard rooms here, but I would appreciate thoughts on stating preferred location vs. avoid location especially. Thanks as always!

Anyone have an opinion on this? Teena- what do you think the most effective way to word her request would be?

My guess is that you should say with as much description as possible what it is you want or don't want, so in your case, the "avoid" approach.

"Not overlooking kitchen roof, please"

Big apologies for not searching the thread. I'm on my phone and having tech issues.

When did check in at the BC change to 4 pm? We had a major glitch checking in this morning. Something w RFID and they had to cancel and completely rebook us. Anyway they told us the room would be ready at 3 the lasest but they'd try for earlier since it was literally an hour trying to just get checked in. Came back after three and they tell us rooms aren't guaranteed until 4 and whoever told us 3 was mistaken :(

Not off to the best start. They told us 25 mins ago itd be 20 mins now they said another 10. Still waiting.

Are you checking into a villa or studio? Check in times for the BCV's is 4pm.

We're in a garden view room at the BC. Not dvc.

Well, as much as I hate to complain about our CL level experience again, I have to chime in that we were also told 4 by a CL CM. We checked in super early and went to Epcot, hung around until 4:30 and wondered why we never got our room number text so I went back to check. Showed up around 4:45 and was told it was no big deal that they were running behind because check in was "technically" 4 pm. Didn't believe it then, don't believe it now. I believe it is something CMs say when it is convenient. It looked like they were only 45 minutes delayed, rather than 105 minutes delayed, you know? And this was 2 years ago too so not recent, Hope you get your room soon!

Dee, thanks so much for bumping this and the advice too. I think I have decided on this wording "toward tennis/quiet pool". I figure that indicates request directionally without making the room assigner think I was expecting an upgrade, at least I hope so!

Interesting. Two cms and a manager all told us that the cm who said three was wrong. We are in a room now finally. I can't find the check in time on anything official. It's a room only so no packet. We just came from POR and our packet for that said 3 pm. Not that that means anything for BC but I just found it interesting.
