Best Counter Service at Hollywood Studios?

We are planning on paying out of pocket for our meals. What is the best counter service in DHS?:)

We also prefer Backlot Express. Nothing is great, but several are pretty good.
Studio Catering is another decent option.

We love Pizza Planet, you can get a pizza and salad meal. Quite tasty, we go every time. HS is my absolute favorite park!

I liked Starring Rolls because the sandwiches were huge and they also had fresh sushi. The best part is the cupcakes though. You must get a red velvet cupcake. It was to die for!

Does Starring Rolls sell out of that stuff as the day goes on? When I was there last month I went in after hearing about the sandwiches and all I could see was some desserts and pastries, I didn't see any sandwiches at all and certainly no sushi. I almost wonder if I was in the right place!

I really like the hot italian sandwich at at catalina Eddies. You can get it with a,salad or chips. I really like the buffalo chicken sandwich at studio catering co. Too. I get it without the buffalo. :goodvibes It is a really good sandwich and IMO can be shared.

Starring rolls is good too but they close early. About 3,pm and once they sellout of something that is it.

We like Backlot Express the best. It's nothing fancy, but it's good. My younger two kids would probably vote for Pizza Planet.

We were VERY pleasantly surprised by Min and Bill's Dockside Diner -- we had the chicken caesar sandwich and the italian sausage sandwich and found the food to be better/fresher than we expected. Also liked being right front and center in the park.

The last time we were there (October 2011), Starring Rolls was sold out of sandwiches by noon. We ended up at the counter service near the Beauty and the Beast Show (Fairfax Fare?) and it was not good at all. For our trip this September, we have an ADR for breakfast at Hollywood and Vine so we will want a late lunch/early dinner so I am pretty sure Starring Rolls will not have sandwiches left. We are planning to go back to the resort mid day so we may just eat at the food court before going back to Hollywood Studios for the evening to see Fantasmic.

Just a thought. I know you asked for counter but we are on the DDP and plan on paying out of pocket for Sci Fi Drive In. It's not that expensive and for us personally the kids will love sitting in the cars.

As for counter, Backlot Express for sure

We tried Pizza Planet for the first time on our last trip in March and really enjoyed it. The pizza was hot and fresh, my DD loved the caesar side salad, and we all LOVED the cappuchino cupcake. Will definitely be eating there again!

I don't like ANY of the CS options at HS. They are all bad IMO. Try 50's Prime Time instead. Almost as cheap as eating CS but it is a TS with much better food options. Even the Pizza place at HS has crappy Pizza. There is just nothing good there.

As the PPs have noted, Starring Rolls does sell out, and when things are gone, they are gone. If we are having a CS lunch at HS we always try to get there before noon to ensure that we can get what we want. They also close early- usually by 4 pm.
