HAPPY EASTER!

I am about to post the next chapter of my report- and there are some familiar Disney characters to be found.

Now, I don't like to beg, but if you haven't read the part of the trip report that Ben wrote, please do (One Ring to Fail Them All, page 81). THANKS!

A Touch of Disney South of the Border

There are 3 theatres on the Barcelo property- Monte Alban for Palace guests, Palenque for Colonial/Tropical (and Palace) guests and Kulkulkan for anyone staying at the resort.

We are early risers. I wake up between 4 am and 5 am every single day of the year- weekends, holidays, vacations. The rest of my family usually starts stirring around 6 am. In our previous two trips, we had not seen any shows. Since I have read reviews about how great the shows are, we were determined to see some if they sounded interesting, and if we were not totally toast at the end of the day.

Every day I checked the poster at the end of the hallway that showed that night’s scheduled performance. I intended to also check out what was playing at the Beach/Caribe theatre, but we never made it to the theatre, B/C lobby or buildings to see a schedule.

Showing at the Palenque Teatro during our trip:

Saturday: Caribbean Music (would have been nice, too tired)
Sunday: Battle of the Sexes
Monday: Variete
Tuesday: Mexican Show
Wednesday: Karaoke
Thursday: Fantasia

Most of these shows really did not interest me. Maybe the Caribbean Music or Mexican show, but we were really tired those nights so we didn’t make the effort.

Except for the last night

I am an unapologetic Disney nerd. I really wanted to check out this show. Who wants to go with me???

Not my family! It was the night before our early morning departure, and my husband thought I was crazy, but after they all hit the sack, I went out to the show. Solo. Just me and my point and shoot camera.

I arrived during the pre-show- some very talented performers singing popular ballads.

I was in one of the back rows, but I had a great unobstructed view.

Right until showtime! A couple came in and joined a guy who was sitting in the seat a row ahead of me and they sat right in front of me. So I moved to another seat closer to the stage, on the left hand side.

Keep your hands and feet inside the ride at all times and please, No Flash Photography!

I absolutely loved the costumes and songs! It was a really fun show!

Ben is a good trip report writer! He did a great job telling the story of what happened at the pier.

Who would have ever thought that you would get a little piece of Disney even while you were "South of the Border"? Too bad you couldn't talk the others into going with you because it looks like the show was really well done.

Thanks for the kind words about Ben's report. I think we will be hearing more from him in the future!

I really didn't know too much about the shows. There is a Circus Circus show that gets raves and a Michael Jackson tribute that people seem to enjoy. I had never read anything about Fantasia. When I saw the poster with Lumiere on it, I knew I had to go!

That's fine that I was alone. The boys don't even want to see shows at Disney, so I had very little hope that they would be interested in this.

What a fun show!!!!

I really enjoyed it! The talent was good and the costumes were really interesting.

I don't blame you for being a Disney nerd this evening! I would have done the same thing.

Ugh to the head in shoulders in front of you. Sort of reminds me of the Witches Hat during my Wishes photoshot. :rotfl2:

Now - back to check if I missed a prior update.

Pier Pressure

One of our favorite spots at the Barcelo is the pier.

I did miss an update. Gorgeous!

Nice guest reporting Ben! That woman - how rude! Seriously? Actually, I bet she was really anxious/nervous about going in and that's why she acted that way. I know that when I am nervous I can tend to get a little snippy. Still........:rolleyes2

How dare people get into our shots???

I loved that even in a whole 'nuther country, there is no escaping Disney magic!

Thanks for going back to check on Ben's report. I am very proud of him, even though he pushes my buttons like crazy. Probably because he is so much like me!

We wouldn't have known what the woman said if Mark hadn't overheard her. I think you are right about her being nervous, but it really made me angry that she made a comment like that about Ben when we had been so polite and patient letting everyone come down, or attempt to come down, the ladder.

It was so nice of them to put on a Disney show for you!

I know, right?!?

.

Fun show! How late was it actually?

Loved Ben's report, sounds like they need at least one more ladder, that really isn't good if choppy for people not to be able to get out! I can't believe that woman said that to Ben, good job on the call out.

Love that you got a wee Disney fix :cool1:
Looks like a fun show :)

I loved that I can't even go to Mexico without Disney creeping in!

It was fun!

OK, now I am embarassed to type this.

The show was at 9:30 (preshow at 9). Maybe not late in everyones book, but late for us. I have mentioned before that my body wakes up between 4:30 and 5:30 am, every day of the year, whether it is a weekend, holiday or vacation day. And with this location being an hour behind Eastern Standard Time, I started to stir each day by 4. I actually left the show at 10:30, before the finale.

I was pretty ticked when Mark told me she made that comment!

Ben's update with his tales from the water were hilarious! The "woman" who was 17. :lmao:

Does that Ariel in the stage production have both feet and fins? Hmmmm... nice try but I'm not buying it! :rotfl2:

Dee - A touch of Disney....how fun. Good for you - my family would have had the same response and think it is terrific you went to the show solo. Nice little Disney fix!
