trouble booking for March 2014 ?

Hi I am having trouble reserving a magic you way package for next March. Though I have read were others have reserved their hotel. Is there some way to book it ? Last time I reserved POR just 6 weeks before going.I was hoping to book soon to get the resort I want. Also when you do reserve a room and then discounts are offered how do you get them applied? Is it better to use disnetworld.com or a travel agent? The last two trips I booked myself through disney,but maybe didn't get the best deal.Thanks for any info NAN

You cant book a package until they release those rates. You can book a room only. Package rates will come out in the summer.

You can call now and make a room-only reservation by phone. When discounts come out, you are supposed to be able to call and apply them (but I haven't tried it yet.)

I don't know about packages. I get the park admission through Undercover Tourist using the Mousesavers Newsletter link for the extra discount, and we don't do dining plans.

Both of these are correct. You can book room only 499 days out by calling. You will be quoted the highest rate for the current year for that resort/room type, which will automatically be adjusted once the new rates are released. A deposit equal to 1 night's room rate + tax will be required at time of booking, with the balance due at check in. To book a package or book online, you have to wait until the 2014 rates are released (which should be this summer as aaarcher86 posted). Keep in mind that if you book room only now and want to change to a package later, the room only will have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked, requiring a new $200 deposit. Room only and packages are different reservation systems so money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. As for discounts, if one comes out for your dates, you can call and have it applied to your current reservation, provided there is availability under that promo at the resort you have booked. Sometimes you have to be flexible with your resort and/or room type as having a reservation already in place does not guarantee a discount can be applied. HTH .
