new blog: Disney MagicBand News for Annual Passholders

Thanks for the info! Drip, drip, drip it comes. ;)

As fabulous as pink would be, I'll probably opt to rock the purple.

Any word yet for Passport holders? Is DL doing this, too? I won't be getting my pass til September.

What happens if your pass isn't activated yet? Does that mean back to the gray bands?
And what if you don't have a phone with app capabilities?

I don't see how the pin-hole securing will actually be secure.

I saw that R.A. Pederson guy on Twitter post a photo of his girlfriend wearing one. The background appeared to be of one of the value resorts. I replied to the tweet with a request for more details. Never heard back (though this was just this afternoon), but I've heard a lot of rumors that there's a bit (a very, very bit) of testing occurring at some resorts. I'd expect to see more widespread testing in the next two to three weeks.

So now that its starting with APs do you (anyone) think that eventually CMs
will be needing these too ? Considering CMs IDs and Maingate Passes go through the turnstyle with a finger scan like all other guest tickets

Thoughts ?

I'll be needing one of each color to coordinate with what I'm wearing. And I'll be the first one in line for cute, custom bands. I'm way more excited about the "jewelry" aspect than anything the band will do.

I was going to buy some Anuual Passes in advance, but now I think I should wait a few months to see what Disney are going to do with the bands, as I am sure the kids would love them.

Has anyone heard any rumors regarding how they will handle the parking benefit of the AP with the magic bands? With the new RFID AP's they have been issuing recently, they have different colored strips on them to indicate whether parking is included in your particular pass or not. If they aren't going to issue a specific color for a specific type of AP, how will the CM's know whether parking is included on your magic band AP?

I asked this question to a cast member when I went to switch to my RFID card at The Odyssey. She was holding an iPad and said they would have something similar with a reader on the back. Then you will put your arm out the window and have them read your MagicBand at the parking booth with that device.

There's no need to wait to buy AP's until the bands are available in order to participate.

So Disney is going to send all the annual passholders an email directing them to choose a color for their bands? I've only been a passholder since November, but I've never received a passholder email. I've called customer service and while the CM was very nice and took all my info again, still no special passholder emails. No Mickey Monitors either. I don't hold much hope for getting the MB email.

Not to worry.

There's little doubt that once the rollout begins, a guest will be able to initiate contact with Disney with a log-in or phone call, and have bands sent out.

Also, there will be thousands of guests who won't get their bracelets in advance (for whatever reason.)
The bracelets will also be available by the tub-load at WDW locations.

Yes, I'm curious as to how the APs are handed out. We bought ours (first timers) on the DVC promotion last Dec and did not plan on picking and activating until our trip in late July. All we got was a conf # to give guest services when we arrived.

I wonder if my purchase info is lined up with my travel info (prob not) and we would be contacted. If hate to get there and only have the limited grey bands some people are saying would only be avail at GS (from other threads).

If you get the magic bands instead of the ap ticket media. How do u get fast passes?

Like I saw at Epcot u can trade in the regular pass for the bands.

I would hate to upgrade to the magic band and then not be able to get fast passes

Anyone?
Tia

The bands are not being handed out in Epcot, only RFID ticket media. Bands are coming later--no one knows when.
