I was really excited to find a dinner reservation, but the experience didn't live up to what I hoped it would be. The outside of the castle is so amazingly done. I loved the gargoyles on the bridge, the waterfall, the castle entry, it was just great. I think it was a combination of being seated in the Rose Gallery (which kind of reminded me of a Denny's, aside from a few BatB decor items) and the food being just meh. They were quite busy too and our poor server was rushing around. We ordered the seafood pastry thing, I was not a fan. I wish I'd have liked this more.

On the plus side, after going to Disney for 14 years on and off, this is the first time I have ever gotten a picture of my kids with a character. The Beast was available to meet after we ate, there was a Photopass photographer there (my camera battery was dying, so this was great), and there was no line :thumbsup2 This was pretty great! He also popped his head into the dining rooms on and off during dinner.

I walked around a bit after eating to see the other rooms and loved the vibe in the big ballroom. The snow is very cool!

I didn't think they used the Rose Gallery for seating during dinner. Interesting.

Maybe try lunch next time. I loved lunch there back in December.

Is the Rose Gallery the study or library or whatever with the rose under the glass? If so, that's where we were seated for dinner as well.

The ballroom was pretty, so I was glad we at least got to see that part. I liked the story about how the angels in the ballroom painted on the ceiling are inspired by Imagineers own children. Our server told us that.

Food was underwhelming. The steak was recommended, but we had big steaks the night before. I had the duck, it was just ok. If we would have not asked for "the grey stuff" it would have not have even been mentioned to us by the server.

Enjoyed the photo op with Beast, but my favorite part was the little side room next to the photo with Beast room with the castle guards! they were "talking" to each other, sneezing and coughing and laughing! I could have stayed in there for a while longer (but some CM's came over and were like "can I help you???" - "Ummm, no - we were just leaving!"....

That is the room to the right as you enter, correct? At the time, I thought it was interesting that the room was not even half full. With the crowds trying to eat there that night, I'd have thought every seat would be filled. Then I thought maybe they just didn't have enough staff to service all the tables.

My family enjoyed our dinner at BOG. We enjoyed our food and had a wonderful very attentive server and it was quite busy.

I think with BOG being so new and so hard to get often leads many people to have expectations that are difficult to meet.

The only time that we saw the "Rose Room" was at lunch, so if it was open at dinner, it must have been really peak time busy!

BOG kids menus are very different from other Disney restaurants for both dinner (TS) and lunch (QS) no PB&J offered. My kids loved the kids menus, and so did I, ( we had both lunch and dinner) but there are many parents who don't like the kids choices at BOG and don't think that their kids will find anything that they will eat.

I am not sure... it was the green-ish room to the right of the ballroom, with a music box of Belle and Beast on display in the middle of the room. I don't know the movie well so I could have missed the details.

I thought the castle guards were hilarious too :)

I think you are right, my expectations were too high.

This is very possible as some of the comments I have seen from posters who have eaten BOTH lunch and dinner there have said they actually preferred lunch!::yes::

I keep seeing posts with people devastated and freaking out that they can't get dinner ADRs and I keep saying then try lunch. :confused3 It's not the end of the world because it's not like you can't get in there at all, you can most certainly go for lunch if you don't mind waiting in a line which isn't that bad. There are many attractions that people wait in line for, right? (and there have been reports that even those with dinner ADRs have had waits of 45 min or more for dinner even with an ADR!)

We did enjoy our lunch food there but I wouldn't say it's the best on property although probably one of the best QS restaurants at lunch (food AND value).:thumbsup2 And the atmosphere can't be beat.;)

I was also surprised to see you were seated in the Rose Gallery, first time reading that this room opened for dinner (but I would imagine this would have to be an option during peak times:confused3)...we sat in this room at lunch and enjoyed it very much. Loved looking at the paintings.

Sorry dinner didn't live up to your expectations, try lunch next time. Feel free to check out our review with lots of food photos.

(well hello again!) I don't know about anyone else, but I think you just convinced me to try lunch here! Do they sell the souvenier cups at lunch? Your photos and review are very nice! (off topic, how do you create a link and transform it to say something else? - Like "click here"..I've never been able to figure that out!).

I don't think there is a next time, family is ready to try some other vacation destinations :( I understand, I'm in, but I'll miss Disney. Thanks for posting your pictures, I will take a look! I like dramatic theming and probably would have liked the other rooms better.

We ate in the forbidden "west wing". I was a bit disappointed at first because the ballroom looked so lovely as we passed through. But it turned out to be a great meal. The room held the rose which loses petals and the rest of the decor is great.
