QOTD:

An add on to the last one. Would you pay to have a "themed" MagicBand?

I would cough up some money to have my daughters be Cinderella themed. I think it would be a great keepsake, and might encourage her to actually keep it on!

You raise a good point Thetorit! I think I would pay the extra $ for a themed. Of course my older daughter wants Indiana Jones theme...LOL. I just want mine to be pink, I am all about pink.

I think that would depend on the cost and the options. I would definitely consider it for my kids if it wasn't totally outrageous!

From the pictures I have seen online, they definitely come off. They have a band similar to a watch with multiple positions for tightening. They look like they will be comfortable.

That would be great - thanks for the response! I think I'm just really sensitive - I don't even like having jewelry on - I only wear my wedding band when I'm going out. It comes off as soon as I get in the house!

I'm really anxious to hear/read more about the changes coming with the magic bands - I would love for this to be a positive change :thumbsup2

Depends on what the themes are and the cost. If it's $5 to upgrade to Cinderella then sure, I'll do that for my kids. I might get a Star Wars one for myself. I hope that with the themeing they have individual characters and not just groups of them. If I could get Rapunzel for DD1 and Belle for DD2 that would be cool but I wouldn't just get two generic "princess" bands.

I also wouldn't get a princess band. My daughter thinks she IS Cinderella. (Her name is Bella, and she calls herself CinderBella!) So I'd pay for that particular princess, but I don't need a montage.

I do hope they are out (and WORKING) in August. I'm with the others...it depends on the $$. I think my cut-off is around $20. If they're much more than that, I think I would let the kids get one if they payed for all/part and DH and I would stick to the plain colors.

Summer Special Offer

The previously released discount to Visa cardholders is now up on the website for the general public:

http://bookwdw.reservations.disney....mo&promotionCode=fy13q3room&market=fy13q3room

Just wanted to share my experience with the discount. We were originally booked with a split stay - 8/13-8/15 at AoA and 8/15-8/20 at the Poly. When the Visa discount was announced last week, I called (twice) to change our first two nights to the Poly (and explained to the CMs about our split stay and that this would give us a full week at one resort). They said there was no availability for a club level room with the discount for those two nights. So, when the discount became available online this morning, I tried for myself. There was no availability for the two nights (8/13-8/15), but when I put in our whole week (8/13-8/20) it DID give me the discount on the first two nights :dance3:

So, I guess my point is, if you're having any issues getting this discount to apply, keep trying different things. I'm guessing there must be a length of stay requirement, but for some reason the CMs I spoke with didn't know this :confused3 Best of luck to everyone getting their discounts! :woohoo:

Today is our tipping point day! :cool1:

At some point during the day today it will be as many days to our next trip as it has been since we went last.

Silly thing I know but something I thought was funny.

I called and upgraded from AoA to a Moderate today for our trip (aug 12-19), but I have since noticed that the discount was only applied to the the Aug 12-14 dates, regular rates for the rest. I read on here a few pages back that the check-in date was what mattered, but apparently this is not the case :confused3

I am debating going back again now as this was more than I expected and the CM was talking very quickly and I felt rushed so never had time to figure it out.

For RO discounts it's based on the actual days you are in your room. For FD it's based on your check in date. You could check in on the last day of the promotion and get FD for the entire trip.

I see, that's too bad! Thanks for the info.

Just an FYI - based on historical trends, there should be another room only discount offered for the rest of August and into September, but it probably won't come out until sometime in May. I'm counting on that too for the remainder of our trip :thumbsup2

I was lucky enough to get my 8/1 -8/12 trip changed to reflect the discount. I called right at 7 this morning and waited 62 minutes!! The discount was about $250 for us. Every penny counts!!

Our friends who are traveling with us were able to save $800 on their 6 night stay at Boardwalk! When he called today, they fixed the price but the CM also went on to offer him other savings such as dining deals as he explained it. DOes anyone know what they were referring to? He did not ask too many questions because he didn't understand and he was on his way to a business trip....and he never booked a trip to Disney before, so he may have been confused? I think he may call back to see what they were offering at a later time:)

last year my hubby and I got a room discount and it saved us about 350$ which was AWESOME! Since there is a discount being offered during peak summer days i'm feeling more hopeful that the discount for not peak travelers will be pretty good. :hyper:
Also I hope the wristband thing works out well. I like the idea of not digging around my pockets or purse trying to find my husband's and my swipy cards. I hope they do stay on strong though cuz I would be so sad if it flew off on a ride or something. Also, I wonder, if you were to pay more for the personalized one, would you be able to reuse it from year to year, cuz that would make it way more worth the extra money! And I would get one then lol. IDK just me thinking silly I guess.:yay:

Do you know if your friends have signed up for the Dining Plan at all? It sounds like the CM may have been trying to get them to add the Dining Plan, which claims to save up to 15% versus paying OOP. But if you find out anything about other deals, it would be really interesting to know!

Lime Green Mickey Heads are here!!!! I finally got around to getting the new ones finished up for this years Team August! Those who had them last year will notice a few changes...the lime green is definitely brighter and it prints out just about right on my printer. (Went thru many shades of testing lol) Also redesigned the font a bit so more of the image shows thru. The printed size as is comes out to about 9.5" wide by 7.5 inches tall. Since they are a .png file they resize pretty well so you should be able to print in any size.

They are fully customizeable! Just let me know what design you would like and I can usually have it ready for you in a day or so. I'll use your forum user name by default, but if you want something different just let me know! Also if you want, I can change the background to just about any character but realize that some may not work well with the shape of the text.

So here are this year's 2013 Team August LGMH's!

Mickey and the gang!

I would like one of these for our upcoming August trip with Mickey & the Gang on it. Would be nice to spot any DIS-board members also wearing these and vice versa.

Yes, they did have the dining plan already included. I am going to suggest he calls back for more information.
