Are the Royal Guest Rooms at POR worth it?

It's a personal choice. If you look on portorleans.org there are some great panorama shots of the rooms. We stayed in August and thought the rooms were lovely plus we had a fantastic location.

We stayed there last year. My 3 year old daughter, and even my 5 year old son loved it. If it was just me and my wife, I would say it probably isn't worth the extra $$$, but for kids I'd probably do it again.

I stayed last year solo and I loved it! the decor is great and the fireworks on the headboard are awesome! the rooms are in one section and I happen to have a room facing the courtyard where they were showing movies each night. I agree, it's very much a personal choice but had I not gotten a good deal on a DVC room I would be staying there again.
good luck!

This is probably subjective as well. Some would argue that the two mansion buildings that house the royal rooms are actually pretty remote. Similar to the pirate rooms at CBR - took the least desired rooms and turned them into theme rooms.

The royal rooms in Oak Manor are fine because there is a bridge nearby across to the main buildings. But if you're in the furthest room at Parterre Place, it's a hike. And both are good walk to the main pool.

IMO - the royal rooms are not worth it, but I would pay to stay in a royal room rather than switching resorts if it was my only option.

Have to agree with the PP. I wouldn't pay the extra for a RR unless it was the only room category available. I'm not all that into princesses. And I've read so many reports from other guests who got the room just to please their princess-crazed DDs. And guess what- they were impressed with the fancy headboards for about 15 min. and then forgot all about them for the rest of their stay. :confused3 But YMMV.
