How was drinks with Jenny, Alison?

We had fun. Her kids came along and they were so into Snow White and Walt's shadow. Actually most of them drank water, they were so excited about their dinner that no one wanted to spoil anything. We will catch up with them for Southern BBQ dinner on Wednesday night.

Her DH was really sweet. I can see why the two of them are such a good couple.

Her daughter took most of the pics, at least of us. I was tired from working on our taxes, it was a nice break for us. I took some pictures of the drinks and stuff, but forgot the food porn. We ordered off the kids menu (Fran and I) Grilled cheese and tomato soup, pigs in a blanket. Almost better than the adult menu!

I'll definitely take pictures from Johnny Rebs! They have some of the best BBQ around! Not sure if I want the beef ribs or the chicken fried steak! Maybe we'll just get both and eat leftovers the next night! Besides we have two BOGO coupons!

Hi all. I had a very quiet Easter without the kids (they were camping with DH). I was early to bed and spent the weekend painting a computer cabinet thing for my study. Painting isn't as easy as these tv shows make it out to be!

Almost time to get a start on something for dinner. And hang out another load of washing. And do the dishes...

I got side tracked from doing my jobs when I remembered the box of seedlings I bought today. So I've planted about 18 corn seedlings, 5 strawberry seedlings, 8 silverbeet seedlings and a capsicum (bell pepper). I also picked another zucchini. It's round but I don't remember buying that type!

My saga with the sick dishwasher is nearly at an end. I think I mentioned that we were looking for a new dishwasher on this thread at the weekend.

Our current dishwasher is 15 years old. A well loved member of my kitchen and well used and abused.
We realised there were a couple of things wrong with it when it wouldn't start up about a month ago. And as I have a philosophy of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it or replace it", we decided to get the Service guy out.

The call out was $$$ and there were a few things wrong with it. Fixing it would have cost $$$$.

So, we went looking. Turns out to replace it with a brand new model would have meant spending twice the cost of fixing it. And we would have fixed it......







IF......


















....if I hadn't remembered that that particular manufacturer warehouse was not 7 km away from us. So, I coerced DH to go visit the warehouse today.

They had a showroom and when they heard what we told them about our current machine (and we really wanted to buy a replacement model in their brand rather than getting a different brand), they offered us a new machine at cost. It's 45% off the retail price.

O.M.G. It's a little more than the cost of fixing the existing machine; but not enough for DH and I to ask where we sign on the dotted line.

Even better....they will come tomorrow, deliver and install plus remove the old machine. Free.of.charge.
