Radiator Springs Racers has ruined me for TT

I confess! It is going to be very hard to get excited about the new TT now that I have ridden RSR!
Went with a friend and rode RSR twice, once in the morning and once after dark. I would have ridden it many, many more times but my friend wasn't interested.

So now I am going down the Disneyland solo next month just so I can ride RSR multiple times every day!

I have heard that the refurbed TT isn't that great. I haven't ridden it yet, but comparing the original TT to RSR is like comparing apples to oranges.

We rode RSR 9X in a week last September! Usually single rider of course.

And, I just rode the new TT 2X last week.

And the winner is..... Radiator Springs Racers!! The theme is so much better, and the views, the lighting at night, the humor of the characters, the racing aspect, just everything. There is not one single thing that is better on TT, in my opinion.

TT is also not operating at 100%, the whole design your car and then race it is very confusing and most guests do not even understand it. And even if you DO, and you scan your card as you board, it is not even working correctly (at least not last week, when we were there).

Honestly, I don't know that I will bother to ride the neww version of TT. I always enjoyed the ride, but the best part was the outside bit, and now I can get a better version of that much closer to home!

I won't even be bothering with TT anymore. I rode it twice last month and it is just blah.

I rode once as a single rider (DS was with me, he was also a single rider). We both got to do a limited design of cars. How does THAT work, if you're testing "your" car? We rode with FP too, and they would only give us one card, but still, we're in a car with other people who also "designed" cars, you know? So there's no way your ride can actually test it, and even without that silliness your car is never going to act a different way in reality.

So it's all just a farce.

I wish they'd just themed it to Tron fully and made it COOL. But noooo.


RSR is a million times better and way more fun, even if they don't get going QUITE as fast as the end part of TT.

I never thought TT was that great in the first place. Wheee the car goes fast. Wheee.

Same effect if I roll the windows down on my CRV on I-5.

I have not ridden the new TT yet. I think I will get a chance in May.

But I feel differently than the OP. While RSR uses the same ride system, it is just a different ride. I like TT's technology theme. I like RSR's travel around the desert theme. If I had to choose I would pick TT over RSR. By a slim margin.

I rode RSR before I ever got a chance to go on Test Track, so I don't know what the old version of TT was like. I enjoyed both rides greatly, both the technology theme of TT and the story of RSR I found greatly enjoyable. I don't understand why one has to be better than the other or "worth your time"? If I'm in Epcot, I'm going to go to TT because I love a fast car style ride. If I go to DLR, I'll ride RSR because I love a fast car style ride.

I must be the odd duck though because I really enjoyed both Space Mountains, too, and wouldn't choose between them one over the other. The only clear winners to me in the VS game between park rides was POTC wins at DLR and Splash wins at WDW. All the other rides that were comparable were both cool in their own way and I just want to ride them all (with FPs, of course).

Because some people just feel that way. There are other things to do at Epcot that I'd much rather do. I used to sort of like TT and now I don't. I would rather wander in Norway a little more than go on a ride whose interior makes no sense and bores me to pieces now, just for 2 seconds going 60+ mph.


Thinking of DLR, I used to not go on Maliboomer when it was there, because I Do Not Like that style of ride. (had a chance to test that in Feb when I went on Universal's FearFall...yeah, still don't like that type of ride, that has not changed since my youth spent at Great America). It wasn't worth my time in line and the utter fear of "we're all gonna dieeeeee", so I didn't do it. I don't ride Sky School either, because it's not at all fun for me, not even a little bit. I would rather do other things with my time. Like ride Grizzly as many times as I can.

Hydro... Have you seen what people on the WDW side of the boards are saying about the new TT?

I'll be at WDW for the 1st time over Memorial Day weekend so I'll be interested in comparing them too.

The minor beef with RSR was I felt like you move through the dark ride portion a bit to quickly and the outside "race" portion could have been a bit faster and longer. But still a very fun ride.

I'm not someone who compares ride systems, I feel Indiana Jones and Dinosaur are completely different rides even though they are on the same platform and I enjoy them both.

But if we are comparing TT and RSR as we would compare HM and POTC as to which I like better, RSR wins by a mile.

And that is purely based off storyline and theme.

I would much rather take a ride on route 66 and see amazing animatronic cars than I would like to do a car test ride.

Yes

While TT goes faster, it is just around a banked track with little themeing and no twists and turns. I like going fast, but as a PP said, I can do that in my own car (keeping an eye out for pole-leez, of course!)

RSR is so much fun with such awesome themeing that I can't see myself tiring of this ride as I have with TT.

But to each their own! This is just one anonymouse's opinion.

According to the MPH sign, TT on my two recent rides got pretty close to 70. And it didn't feel very good (felt faster than the previous times I was on it); made me feel like I do during the CA Screamin' takeoff, which is the part of that coaster I don't love.

RSR doesn't go that fast, but IMO it's more thrilling, because of the turns and the fun of the "race".


And, of course, if you've stood underneath TT outside where the cars go around, you've seen the whole structure shaking...which is, you know, slightly terrifying to think about.

I agree that RSR is a much more fun ride that TT. I like the story behind RSR. It feels like a more "complete" ride to me...one that had a lot of thought put into it.

I rode TT at the beginning of March. Once using the single rider line and once using the normal line. The single rider line folks just get to pick a car from a group of pre-designed one. The normal line folks can design a ride, but there isn't a lot of time and it's not really clear what makes for a good design. As for the ride itself, I liked the old TT better. At least it made more sense what the ride was doing. The new version is kind of like the old (you're still testing a car design), but the new version felt like you were supposed to be in an 80's video game setting. It was still basically the same ride (run a car through a series of tests and go fast at the end). It was worth a 15 minute wait, but I wouldn't wait much longer than that for it.
