Family of the Day at Chef Mickey?

Does anyone know if they still do a "family of the day" at Chef Mickey's? I had read on an older thread that they did at one point do this and I made reservations for 5:00 pm in hopes of being lucky and getting to be the family of the day. I figured you guys here on the DIS seem to be pretty smart and definitely the most helpful and hoping that someone might know the answer!!!!

We were family of the day at Cape May Cafe for dinner with a 5pm reservation in 2010!

It was really an interesting experience. The kids received free tinkerbell and pirates cups with glow clip tinkerbell. We were able to go to the buffet before anyone else was seated. Our table cloth was blue and they set a light house on our table. If I remember right they announced us as the family of the day.

I do not have a tip to be family of the day but it was a nice experience!

We had 5 pm reservations at Chef Mickey's last August. A family was chosen to enter first accompanied by Mickey (or another character, I can't remember). Anyways the family were seated first and all the cast members stood around and clapped and cheered for them. I don't know how they were chosen though.

We were chosen as the family of the day there in 2011 !! We arrived about 4:30 for our 5:00 reservation, my husband took the boys to check out the gift shops while I stood at the podium. We were the first ones in line to check in, they told us we were the family of the day and asked my boys if they would like to help Mickey open the restaurant ! Mickey and my boys "opened" the restaurant, then Mickey escorted us to our table. Once seated, my boys signed Mickey's autograph book for him, they loved it! It was a very cool experience and I have the most adorable picture of my boys each holding one of Mickey's hands and walking to our table !

Wow, what an absolutely awesome experience. I've never heard of it either. That is definitely an amazing memory to have.

My oldest was chosen to open Chef Mickey's several years ago. He got to cut a red ribbon, we were seated first and had all our pix taken and got one on one extended time w/ the characters as well as signing a special book for those that do this and a certificate signed by the fab 5. Oh and LOTS of wonderful service from our server. Best ever! Probably what we compare CMs to now and why it can't possibly ever compare again. It was incredibly special!!! How were we chosen? Gosh, we were there about 30 minutes before they opened but we weren't the only ones, they just came up to us about 10 minutes before they opened for dinner (it was only for dinner time that they did this) and asked my DS if he would like to open Chef Ms.

We were chosen last week. We have 5:00 ressies but we werent the first to check in. Its probably random how they choose. Although ODS did have a chef mickeys shirt on and YDD a minnie outfit so ma ybe that helped?

Oh my goodness, I am just reading all these responses even though it's been a few months, don't know how I missed it. Thanks to you all for responding, there is hope. We will just try to be there early and see what happens! Maybe we will get some pixie dust as you all have already!
