Have you ever seen a spider?

Disney is my happy, fun, safe place, therefore no spiders exist there.

... I'll keep telling myself that and pray I never see one!

A spider, no. But Florida is full of critters. Some that hop, some that fly & some that scurry. Take it for what it's worth.

When we were there Feb 24-Mar 6 we had them in our room :scared1:

Actually none of us are freaked out by them so we just grabbed a tissue and killed them. One was on the ceiling the first night we were there, and on night 2 there was another crawling across the ceiling.

We stopped at the front desk and mentioned it to them. They were (overly) concerned about it and insisted on sending someone to our room! A man arrived at our door, armed with a bottle of WINDEX! He explained that it is toxic to bugs, but non-toxic to people (who knew!) and said he would spray around our door. We never saw another one the whole trip.

He made a good point that people often prop the doors open when they make a quick trip out of the room, and bugs do make their way in, especially at night when the light attracts bugs closer.

Someone had the audacity to tell my DD7 that spiders live under the toilet seats in Florida. She is already Deathly afraid of spiders and this bit of useful information didn't help. I pray we don't see any in our room!

If you are really scared of bugs/critters, I would suggest requesting a room not on the first floor if you are in a moderate or value. The housekeepers will sometimes keep the doors ajar while they are cleaning and I have heard of those little lizards scurrying in the rooms. I've also heard that during love bug season, love bugs will get into rooms when housekeepers do this. The best defense is to stay at deluxe with interior corridors!

all southern states have spiders - comes with the nicer weather.

most spiders are harmless and they eat the bugs that could hurt you.

that say Disney sprays at night - so you should not be bothered - just don't go outside after 2am until around 8am.

dawn and dusk - mosquito season - too they spray.
oh if you see any mosquitoes (doubtfully at WDW) they should be bigger.

Several years ago we stayed at the Port Orleans Resort (not my fav) for a wedding. We didn't have spiders (as hubby is fearful of them), but had tons of ants! Ants were everywhere and I couldn't calm down thinking of those little critters crawling over me during the night. YIKES!!!!!! Other then that I've never seen any other creepy crawly things.

A couple of years ago Dson was staying at AKV and text me a pic of a momma spider and several hundred:lmao:of her babies that were on his balcony. Lets just say after that pic I took him out of the willpixiedust:

We were at BLT this past September and yep, we had some decent-sized spiders on our balcony every.single.night. Taking bug spray when we go back this year :goodvibes

My fear is Bees! I am allergic ! And you know, I have not really every noticed many of these deadly critters around. I am especially allergic to wasps :scared1: I even have nightmares I'm being chased by swarms....:faint: I might have come across a few bees here and there (we usually always go during F&G) and since bees like and need flowers well, I guess you'd naturally have to see some. But knock wood, I have never been chased by one. And believe me, if I do get chased by a bee/wasp, everyone in a 2 mile radius will know it !!! :scared1: I have quite a loud scream ! BTW, I do not like spiders either, and I am happy to say I have never come across one at WDW. :thumbsup2
This thread has reminded me to call my doc and get my yearly script for an Epi-Pen !!!! Thanks !

I am sooo afraid of spiders! I hope I don't have one in my room because I will leave the room and not come back until it is killed or removed. I don't care if it's the middle of the night:scared1:.

I'm not trying to freak anyone out. Just wanted to let the other arachnophobics out there know, we came across a banana spider on Tom Saywer island a couple of years ago. It was my last visit to the island. If you don't know what a banana spider is, they are huge!

Well if you think they are big look at this video of a giant jumping spider, fortunately I do not think there are any of these in Florida :scared1:

we once saw an armadillo and a whole "army" of tiny green frogs eating the bugs that were flying around the light outside our room - husband had to "sweep" them all away before we could enter the room.

I haven't seen any! However saying that when my bro, dad and grandad went to Kennedy space centre they said they saw quite a lot of rather large spiders! I'm staying in the AKL in August! Hope I don't come across any! Luckily we didn't the last time we were there! x

I hate spiders and snakes!! I have never seen one in Disney but think about it every time I go. We are staying at AKV for the first time and I hope I don't see any there:scared1:
