Renting from multiple owners

I am sure this question is answered somewhere around here, but I can't find it. I am needing to rent around 600-700pts for a trip we are planning for May 2014. Our family is wanting to rent either a 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom at VGC, or a 3 bedroom villa for about one week. From my research so far, it seems most owners do not have that many points. So what is the process for renting points from multiple owners, in order to have enough for the entire reservation? Thanks for helping a newbie out!

You will need VGC owners and either have them transfer points from one to the other and have one book or have each book part of the reservation without the transfer.

Getting all of this organized for an 11 month booking will be difficult if not imposable.

the thing is that you are NOT actually renting "points." you are actually renting a reservation.

so you would need one owner to make part of the reservation and a different owner to make the other part of the reservation, and then ask MS to link the 2 separate reservations (which may require checking out and back in, possibly moving to another room). both owners would need to own at VGC as stated.

i don't think an owner would deal with the hassle of transferring pts for a renter, so don't bother with that.

Thanks for the replies. The information was pretty much what I was expecting to hear. So how DO non-owners rent the 3 bedroom villas at GCH for multiple day stays that require a lot of points? Or is it pretty much impossible to do so unless you are an owner? Would I have more luck going through a rental agency instead of directly with an owner? My family really wants to stay together in one place on site, but it seems like it is pretty much impossible :confused3.

No experience renting but that's exactly what I would do.

In either case (rental agency or direct with a member), you will have the same challenge. Only an owner at the specific resort will be able to make a reservation more than 7 months in advance for you.

In this case, you are wanting a reservation at a small resort (48 total villas) with only two GVs so the likelyhood of availability is greatly reduced within 7 months - especially for the GVs.

For the best chance for success, I would try to line up an owner prior to 11 months from the dates you want if possible and then use a broker as a backup right at 11 months. You can start with a broker, but unless they have an owner already waiting and ready to get that reservation at the earliest possible time you may still find the GVs gone. I'd work towards getting that reservation right when the 11 month priority opens and would be willing to pay a premium for success.

Good luck! :)
