It's time to try a Disney Cruise. Let's start with the Dream! update pg 14

Hi there! A newbie to your reports here and tagging along for the rest! (Also, I can't resist following a fellow Maritimer!)

It was long before the announcement was made to head to the muster station for the briefing…

…they scanned one key card for each cabin to check people in. Once everyone was there, they quickly went through the briefing and we were on our way.

They’ve gotten the Muster down to a painless science.
One of the many things DCL does well.
(and I’m glad you no longer have to ware the life vests during the drill)

It was nearly time for the sail away so we wandered back to the pool area. By the time we got all the way back up it was really crowded so we decided to simply head back to the cabin and watch from the balcony. We had told DW’s parents we would be back there waving while they watched on the Fishlips webcam.

Those are some nice shots of Canaveral and the channel. I do believe y’all had just about the best seats in the house for the sail-away.
:thumbsup2

Hope some day to score me a veranda cabin and do the same.

We had the early seating for dinner and tonight we would be in the Enchanted Garden…

I don’t recall what we had but I do know it was good.

Like all dining aboard Disney ships, I expected to enjoy Enchanted Garden, but it surprised us by being about the best meal we had on our last cruse.

As soon as there finished the doors open for the first night’s show – the Golden Mickeys.

The venerable “oldie”… A good show that they’ve been doing pretty much since the Magic first started sailing. Have seen it several times and it’s still entertaining.

We then headed to the District Lounge for Family Feud. Guess who was the first family picked – US!!

Very cool! (next time you’ll just have to cheat too to make it fair :lmao:)

It surprises me that more folks don’t take advantage of some of these whole-family activities. We were one point shy of being declared the “Pirate Kings” on one trip and I’ve actually won a round of “Who Wants to be a Mousketeer” (based on the Millionaire game) and have the “etched glass paperweight” to prove it. Some of those games are a real hoot.

Sounds like an excellent sailing day. You took advantage of a lot of the extras that the unprepared tend to miss out on. Looking forward to hearing you take on Nassau.

great update darcy!!! is it me or is the deck bigger then the room? :rotfl:
maybe if i got a cabin like that with a big deck, i could sleep on the deck.
thats the main reason i cant go on a ship. :crowded:
great pics!!! ill live through you! :thumbsup2

We had a great first day, got lots done and had just enough sleep the night before to enjoy it.

Next time I'll throw you a rope and you can climb up on the deck.

So after lots of shrimp and some crab legs...?

I am intrigued by the shrimp and crab legs. We've been on DCL 4 times and I only remember crab claws. Are the crab legs available often? We usually do the sit down on embarkation day. Should I be heading to Cabanas for these treats? April 7th 4 day is coming soon!!!!:yay:

Great report! Keep it coming!:yay::yay:

A little late to the party but enjoying the trip.

Thanks for writing about your travels.

Joining in a little late!! We will be on the Dream for the first time in May!

LOVE your balcony!!

Your pics are great! What kind of camera do you use?

You are correct, my mistake. They were the crab claws with the arm?? attached not the legs.

The Dream is a great ship, I'm sure you will love her.

I am using a Canon Rebel XS for almost all if the pictures. I have some coming up from snorkeling that were taken using a waterproof camera.

Thanks for following along everyone. It is a busy weekend for us with DS playing basketball all weekend. I hope to have another update tomorrow night sometime.

Yay for Canon! I will be using my Canon 60D, so hopefully my shots will turn out as nice as yours!!

Can't wait to read more!!

Love Declan modeling the life vest!

Great update, would love a pic of the hoodie Pooksma got and some food porn! Seriously, it's all about the verandah and the food:rotfl2:

Here is one of the hoodie but no food porn this trip. I didn't want to freak out our tablemates too much. :rotfl2:

Today was to be our day in Nassau. We had heard good and bad stories about Nassau and we didn’t see a whole lot on the excursions list that intrigued us. Atlantis did look intriguing but it seemed over prices so we simply decided to walk around a bit on our own. Pooksma decided to spend some time at the Spa in the afternoon while Declan hung out.

--------------------

So our day started out around 7 with a room service delivery of some coffee and fruit. Our plan was to hang out on the balcony and watch as we docked. It wasn’t long before we could see Nassau in the distance.

And then I noticed this guy

I guess the pilot was aboard and we were pretty close. Before long we were in the channel and started to get a good look.

I’m not sure what this is but I think it may be something left over from a James Bond movie.

I’m sure this place had a few visitors throughout the day.

There were also two of these tied up

The water tower you can see in the distance was the goal of our walking tour.

Actually it was the Queen’s Staircase and Fort Fincastle but the water tower is right there as well.

After we were tied up, it was time for some breakfast. We headed up to Cabanas and found a table on the outside deck just above our cabin. A bit of warning for you, if you decided to eat out there while in port, be prepared for seagulls. They are all over the place and can get aggressive. In fact I left Pooksma at the table as I went to get some coffee and as soon as I left, the birds attacked! When I returned to the table it was surrounded by CMs cleaning up the table. I thought “Wow, what service!”

After we finished up, we headed back to the cabin to pick up the camera bag and some supplies and headed for the gang plank.

Next up – our walking tour of Nassau.
