He Was Bitten, Bitten By The Bug! A Nov-Dec '12 TR **WRAP UP 7/26**

As always I love all of your pictures. With that said, the lighting in your first couple Photopass Pictures was FANTASTIC! They really came out great. However, my all time favorite picture from this last update... The one from EE - the one where you are looking at your camera!!:rotfl2:

Sorry you won't be in WDW for your Bday but plus is the alternate date will save you $$$ :)

Thanks, I really liked the lighting in them too! That one from EE was pretty funny, and completely accidentally! :rotfl:

Saving the $$$ is a great benefit, and I'll get to be there no matter what so I'm not really disappointed.

DAY FOUR, SUNDAY DECEMBER 2ND, PART FOUR

When I left off it was about 1pm and I was expecting Steve to arrive around 1:45pm. I got in my room and started up my laptop so I could download the pictures I had taken so far. After a quick change in shoes to more comfy flip-flops and a bathroom break I got a text from Steve asking where at the resort I was. I looked at the time and it was only 1:14pm!! I grabbed my KTTW card and headed out while asking where he was. He made some vague comment about the food court and shop being nice so I headed that way. I walked into Everything POP and looked around but didn't see him anywhere. I got my phone out of my pocket to call him when he came up behind me and scared me. Not that I was surprised as he tends to sneak up on me often. After some hellos and hugs I started showing him around POP Century.

This is the first part where I was a bad DIS-er, as my camera was still in my room so I absolutely no pictures as we walked around the resort for a couple hours. He was surprised by the size of POP and that there were multiple buildings. Overall he was impressed with everything he saw. Around 4pm we decided to head to DTD for some dinner and to walk around. And by we I mean I decided and he was fine with it, since he had no knowledge of WDW. I found out later that day that when he was in the Navy he and several guys stopped in while driving past on their way to their base (after docking) and went to a park for an hour. He remembered nothing about it and I don't think they did any attractions at all. From what I got I think they stopped in MK though, since he knew of the Castle there. :confused3

Here is where I was a bad DIS-er for the second time. We went up to my room so I could grab my wallet, since I had only run out with my phone and KTTW card. I grabbed my wallet, and left my camera on the table once again. Oops.

We took the bus to DTD and got off at the Marketplace. I told Steve all kinds of facts about WDW on the way there, and it is safe to say he was overwhelmed. He had no idea the size, scale and scope of WDW, and was very impressed. We weren't quite hungry yet, so we walked all the way from the Marketplace to La Nouba at West Side, with me still spouting off facts and information along the way. He had the most adorable look of complete amazement the entire walk. He truly had no idea about how much there was to do and see at WDW.

We headed back toward Marketplace and decided to have dinner at Wolfgang Puck Express. I do have a few pictures here, from a previous trip and one from the internet for his meal.

I ordered the cheese pizza:

Steve got the Cavatappi Chicken Alfredo (picture via Google)

CavatappiChickenAlfredo_zps91341e05.jpg

He must have liked it, as he finished it all! I explained the DDP to him while we ate and he was once again amazed. I was only able to eat half my pizza, so I got the other half boxed to go. For dessert we both got the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake, which was delicious!

063.jpg

Once we were done eating and I had the rest of my pizza boxed up it was time to start heading back to POP. We had some time though, so we (read as I) decided to take a round-about way there. We got on the boat to POFQ. We were the last ones on, and the skipper was HILARIOUS!! When we tried to get on he looked at my box of pizza and held out his hand and was quite dejected looking when I refused to give him some of it. He cracked jokes the whole time and made fun of me quite a bit, but all in good fun. He even made a point to give everyone a life jacket but me, because I refused to share my food with him. :rotfl2: He also just made general jokes along the boat ride about Disney and "facts" that no one knew. ;) When we got to POFQ he tried once again to get pizza before letting us off, but then thanked us for taking the jokes so well. He really impressed Steve, who also enjoyed the jokes at my expense. But when I explained how wonderful the CMs are at WDW he thought that was really cool too.

We walked around POFQ for about 10-15 minutes, which was nice for me too since the only other time I was there I got off the bus stop in front of the main building, got Benoits and then back on the bus so no exploring. We both thought the resort was gorgeous, and made our way to the bus stop after walking around.

While waiting for a bus to MK my sister Lisa called. My uncle had to be rushed to the hospital and was in very bad shape. He was actually told in October 1999 that he wouldn't live to see Christmas. Obviously that was wrong, but he does have a ton of health problems and had crashed that morning. He was in a coma at that point and they were still running tests to see what was wrong. I was even happier at that point to have Steve there, as I wouldn't have wanted to get that news alone. He was great and kept me calm and helped me to feel much better about everything. I did post about my uncle's whole saga here, but if you didn't see it or don't remember he is home and doing okay again. Still has a ton of health issues but doing well for his health.

The bus to MK came within 5 minutes and there were almost no other people on it. I think there were only 2 other families. We were on a bus to MK just to transfer to a bus for POP, but coincidentally the bus we were on was heading to POP next, so we didn't even have to get off that bus! We made it back to POP around 7pm and it was time for Steve to leave. I walked him to his truck and we talked for a bit and he said next time I came down he wanted to see more of WDW with me. :cool1: He was bitten by the Disney bug!!!! (hence the title!). I was very sad he had to leave, but glad he got to come for a little while and enjoyed his time at WDW. He left around 7:20pm. I walked back to my room to get all of my things, because despite being sad that Steve was gone, I had plans that night!

NEXT TIME: NEVER DO THIS TO JACK SPARROW!!!!

Wolfgang Puck... Yum!! Love that place, we didn't go there on our last trip amazingly... Hmmmmm I think I know where I will be stopping on our next trip for our arrival day lunch! Sounds like a good night, at least you got to meet up for a little bit with Steve. :)

Steve has arrived! I know that you had to be super happy to have your friend there and I'm sure that he was just as happy. Isn't it the neatest thing to see Disney through a newbie's eyes!?! That's the way it was when Jesse traveled with us last year. I'm so glad that Steve was there for you when you received the news about your uncle. It's nice to have a shoulder to lean/cry on.

So glad Steve was bitten by the Disney bug! Bummer that your March trip was postponed but at least you get to go soon.

One of these days I'm going to eat at WPE. The food looks so good!

Oh and it looks like I will be staying at POP in October. We were going to stay at POR but since it looks like there is not going to be free dining, I decided to switch us to a value to save some money. I showed DH both POP and AOA and he picked POP. Mainly because he wants to time travel back to the 80s and live there permanently. I will be requesting an 80s building of course.

WPE would be a great arrival day lunch! Their food really is great and I love that they are on the DP. I wish I had more time with Steve, but we made the best of the few hours we did have!

He was definitely enjoying himself, far more than he thought he would. When he first got there he made a comment about how WDW wasn't really his kind of thing, and by the time he left, just 6 hours later, he couldn't wait to see more! :thumbsup2 And you're right, it is great to see it thru a newbie's eyes, he was just so awestruck by everything DTD had to offer. And it was wonderful to have Steve there when I got the bad news about my uncle. He is very good at being comforting when I need it.

I was thrilled he was bitten too! I knew he would like it more than he thought he would, but it was so great to see how truly interested he was in everything.

You HAVE to eat at WPE someday. Their food is awesome and it's nice to have a sit down meal with QS credits.

Yay for a potential POP stay!!! I know you guys will enjoy it. I haven't stayed in the 80s, but my first trip was in the 90s building right by the 80s. There really isn't a bad spot in POP, as it's not as big as the Mods are. Even the farthest buildings are just a few minutes from Classic Hall. And if you have any questions about POP just ask me, or check out the POP thread, which is extremely well maintained and has a ton of info! :hippie:

Thanks, I actually stayed there in 2010. It was Mom, Brother & SIL. We had other family there that trip, but they stayed at POFQ. We actually stayed in the 90s building too. I loved that location because we could cut through the parking lot to Classic Hall. I love the food court at POP because of the atmosphere. Nothing bets doing the twist at 8 am each day! I'm guessing that I won't have too much trouble getting a room in the 80s buidling. I don't think too many people request that section, do you?

I liked cutting across the parking lot too, made it a quick trip to the bus stops! I doubt there are a bunch of requests for the 80s section. I see a lot of people talking about 50s, 60s and 70s on the POP thread, but not the 80s or 90s.

I'm so glad you had a great afternoon with Steve and that he loved WDW, even if you didn't go to a park. :goodvibes

You keep calling yourself a bad Dis'er for forgetting your camera, but really, after reading the entire update I'd say you did a very good job as a Dis'er. You brought a non-believer onto Disney property and got them hooked by just walking around a couple of resorts, seeing DTD and riding Disney Transportation. Really, if you weren't able to put a good spin on it and make it entertaining how many people would take the time to enjoy the resorts and the interactions with the CM on the boat? Nicely done! :thumbsup2

Aww...thank you so much!!! :goodvibes I just felt bad that I was writing an entire update with no pictures that I had taken during that time.

DAY FOUR, SUNDAY DECEMBER 2ND, PART FIVE

When I left off Steve had just left to head back home. I was pretty bummed out he was gone, but couldn’t be sad for too long, as I had a party to go to! That’s right, my second MVMCP was that night, and I was already late. I wasn’t too concerned about that though since I had done 90% of what I wanted to on the first night. I headed back to my room to change and get my things, then headed to the bus stop. The bus came quickly and I wrote in my trip journal until we arrived at MK. It wasn’t too bad at the bag check or entrance, so I walked right in around 8:15pm. I was a little hungry again from an early dinner, so I headed left at the hub and around to one of my favorite CS places, Pecos Bills.

They were surprisingly busy for the start of a party, but not too bad. I quickly got my taco salad, added my toppings from their awesome toppings bar and sat down. I did remember to take a picture before I started eating!

203_zpsdf3430f2.jpg

It was yummy, as always.

I knew the first character that I had missed on Thursday and wanted to meet, but they weren’t out then. I checked with the CM and they told me what time they would be back, which was still about 30 minutes and no line yet. I wandered around for a little while, but must not have been too interested in anything as I took no pictures. I eventually got back to the spot where the character would be and there were about 10 people in line so I joined them. The character came out just as Wishes started. I could not get great pictures from where I was, but got a few while waiting for my turn.

If you look at that last picture you can probably figure out where I was standing, but do you know who I was waiting to see????

JACK SPARROW!!!

Before I post the TONS of pictures the PP took of us (and I do mean a ton!) I want to explain the mean thing I did to poor Jack. When it was my turn he waved to me, and I made the mistake of using the wrong wave back! I, for reasons I’ll never know, waved kind of like British royalty. You know, the fingers tight together slight rocking back and forth wave. That did not sit well with Jack and he accused me of being a spy for the British or at least a princess trying to catch pirates. princess: I had to assure him many, many times that it was not the case and just a bad wave! Thankfully he did believe me and led me over to the picture area while we talked a bit. (All of these are PP pictures!)

Once we were over there he explained to me why he was actually more afraid of me being a princess than a member of the royal navy. Seems he was visiting Jasmine and Aladdin and some of Jasmine’s jewels just “accidentally” ;) fell into his pocket. She saw them as he was leaving and Raja chased him down. Thankfully for him he climbed up a tree Raja couldn’t get in and he tossed Jasmine her jewels back then climbed the wall back out and was safe. While he told me this story he acted out the scene for me.

Once the story was finished he posed for a few pictures with me. The first three are from the PP camera, last one is from mine.

He was easily the best character interaction I had, as he spent at least 5 minutes with me, was completely in character the whole time and was hilarious! And those aren’t even all of the pictures the CMs took, but a lot were similar so I figured I wouldn’t have an entire post plus some of just one interaction!

When I finished with him Wishes was still going on so I walked down closer to Aladdin’s Magic Carpets where there was a better view to watch, and take pictures!

After Wishes ended I headed over to find some other characters I had missed on Thursday’s party night, Tiana and Naveen. They were out with almost no line so I quickly saw them. Just as the party in 2010, as soon as I told them I was from MD they started asking me about crab cakes. Funny enough I checked the pictures and these are definitely both different people as them, so MD must just be known for their crab cakes, at least to these two! First picture is from my camera, second is PP.

234_zpsa21dbda7.jpg

Photo0215FourBySix_zps3ff02e16.jpg

There was really only one more set of characters I wanted to see (actually I did want to see Aladdin, Jasmine, etc, but they weren’t out anytime I passed) so I headed into Fantasyland to see them! I passed the construction area first, and this is how they had the cranes for 7DMT.

235_zps9dc8a2a5.jpg

I headed over to Winnie the Pooh to see the gang, but they weren’t out yet. The CM said about 10 minutes, so I got in line behind a couple around my age that was already waiting. We all talked while we waited, and they were very nice and were there on their honeymoon. More and more people started showing up, and more than one person tried to cut in front of us, but thankfully the CM sent them all to the end before we could even speak up. They wouldn’t let us in the cue even until they showed up, so we were lined up along the walkway and people just tried to cram into the line wherever they wanted! It actually was about 20 minutes before they finally showed up and the couple spent about 5-7 minutes with them, getting lots of pictures. Then it was my turn. I went right to Tigger, as he is my favorite, and the PP CM got a great picture of us hugging on their camera.

Photo0217FourBySix_zpsd713b83e.jpg

Then a couple group shots. One with my camera, then the one with theirs.

236_zps058a26bf.jpg

Photo0218FourBySix_zps29bc2e8f.jpg

I headed thru Tomorrowland next but wasn’t feeling up to being there anymore so I took one picture of the underside of TTA and then started to head out.

237_zps6a2f2fe4.jpg

One the bridge between Tomorrowland and the Hub there was a PP so I stopped for another set of pictures. First I took a picture of the castle though.

238_zps94d75797.jpg

The PP tried to take a picture of me there, but forgot to turn on the flash, so you can’t really see me.

239_zps1423b801.jpg

Thankfully she turned on the flash and this one was much better!

240_zps32e97139.jpg

And she also took two with her PP camera:

Photo0225FourBySix_zpsb58dc8e4.jpg

Photo0226FourBySix_zps61e2d504.jpg

I tried to stop in the Hub for more pictures, but there were long lines at every one so I just headed out instead. I was on the bus back to POP quickly and back to there around 11pm. I was exhausted so I downloaded my pictures from my camera then went right to bed.

NEXT TIME: LAST FULL DAY, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!

I haven't eaten at Peco Bills yet but I have a feeling we'll end up there in Oct. DH is a big burger lover and when I mention that fixing bar to him I think it will win out over any other CS.

What an awesome interaction with Jack Sparrow. And only a short wait to see him! He's one that's on my list to meet at Halloween party if he's out. I really need to start researching the Halloween party so I know what we are doing in October!

I loved the Wishes pictures through the trees from Adventureland.

I wonder if the friends of Tiana and Naveen have to memorize the food specialties of the different states. It seems like they always know what food to discuss with people meeting with them.

Cute pictures with the Pooh gang. Thank goodness for the CM that stopped people from cutting in front of you.

Pecos Bills has a great fixins bar, and it's what sold me on trying there. What other CS has salsa being cooked for you, sauted onions, sauted mushrooms and fresh veggies?? I love it!!

Jack Sparrow was great! The line was pretty long by the time I got done with him. He meets right beside PoTC, but comes and goes during the party so you can ask the CMs there when he will be out and then be there at least 10 minutes early to get in line!

I wonder about that with Tiana and Naveen too!

The funny thing was that the CM was talking to me and the couple in front of me, so what were those people thinking trying to cut in line RIGHT in front of the CM? :confused3

Great firework pics! :)

Thank you!

Yum, taco salad!

I can see why people would want to meet Jack Sparrow and why his line gets so long. That is so funny the story he told you, and the fact that he acted it out! You're so lucky!!

I really love that taco salad! The fixins bar ensures it's perfect for me :goodvibes

Jack was terrific!!! He was by far my best interaction I've had with a character. He was perfectly in character with the story, his mannerisms, and him running around pretending to run from Raja was hilarious. I forgot to mention in the update that he "forgot" Jasmine and Raja's names and was giving me funny clues for who he was talking about. Jasmine was a weird scent-thing and a flower, before I realized who he meant and asked him if he meant Jasmine and he told me I was right. And he kept calling Raja the overgrown kitty! :rotfl2:
