It's time to try a Disney Cruise. Let's start with the Dream! update pg 14

So after lots of shrimp and some crab legs,

A very good start on the day to be sure…

we decided to find the Edge so Declan could check it out.

Our boy never warmed up to any of the kids clubs on any of our sailings. There very nice offerings, just not as appealing to those of us that don’t make “friends’ at the drop of a hat. Bless those that do… life is a bit easier for y’all.

I found it quite ironic that all basketball season I had been trying to get Declan to play a little more physical under the hoop and as we were playing a little one on one, he elbowed me in the side of the head as he drove by me to the hoop.

It’s just a whole lot more fun to physically maim your dad then one of your peers.

Another perk of parenthood.

The cabin was great, lots of room with a huge verandah.

::yes::
That is a ton of space for any ship’s cabin.
Ya’ done good to grab that one.

We did 3 runs on the Aquaduck with no wait but it was pretty chilly getting on. We were able to warm up in the pool and watch some classic Disney cartoons on funnelvision and then warmed up some more in the hot tub. When you get in the hot tub make sure you check out the glass bottom.

More excellent use of the early part of boarding day.
A lot of folks neglect to take advantage of that opportune moment.

WOW, that's a really nice balcony! I wasn't exactly excited to jump in the heated pool with DD, glad she didn't talk me into the Aquaduck that day! :)

I made sure to take advantage of that a couple of times. :rotfl2:

DS didn't spend much time at the club, maybe a couple of hours total. Our table mates had a boy the same age and they went for a bit but for the most part he hung out with us.

It was hard to give him a hard time about it, atleast there was no swelling. :rotfl2:

One of the benefits of booking early I guess.

That is where the research paid off. The swim trunks were in our carry-ons. :thumbsup2

The balcony was great, it was nice to have the loungers out there to relax in the peace and quiet.

The aquaduck itself wasn't too bad, it was the cool breeze on the way back up the stairs. Those heated pools were fantastic for warming up.

LOVE that balcony. Ours is aft but not that far aft on the Fantasy. So excited to hear that you'll be here in June. We will definitely have to meet up! Send us details once you know and we'll arrange things here.

Can't wait for more! I was interested to hear that you could hear neighbours on the Dream but not on your Carnival ship. I think I would prefer the space to soundproofing but I guess that depends who you are near. We once were woken every morning by a screaming baby at 6:30 AM at an all-inclusive. It did get a bit tiresome by the end!

Permission to come aboard Captain! .......great pics of a magnificent ship! As Purplepeg said, let us know your details for your visit to Winnipeg in June!

It wasn't really loud but we could hear the odd voice. That never happened on either of the Carnival ships we sailed on.

Welcome aboard! She is a pretty ship; do you call a ship pretty? :confused3

I think I will be out there around from the 9th to the 12 of June. As soon as things firm up, I will let you all know.

I am not entirely sure I would have ever left that balcony! Oh wait....I would have had to go and collect some beveridges at some point tho:rotfl2:

We'll definitely see you when you're here! So exciting....any chance pooksma and Declan are coming along? I know you said it was for meetings but a girl can hope!!!

You are forgetting about room service. :rotfl2:

I don't think they will be with me. They'll both still be in school so it is hard for them to get away.

Back at the cabin our luggage arrived so we unpacked and got ready for the safety briefing. Some of us took the instruction in the cabin literally.

It was long before the announcement was made to head to the muster station for the briefing. We made our way to Evolution on Deck 4, lots of stairs from Deck 10. This briefing was a lot better than the two who had with Carnival. The information was basically the same but it was better organized. As soon as we left our cabin we found crew members in their life vests directing people to their muster station and when you got there, they scanned one key card for each cabin to check people in. Once everyone was there, they quickly went through the briefing and we were on our way.

It was nearly time for the sail away so we wandered back to the pool area. By the time we got all the way back up it was really crowded so we decided to simply head back to the cabin and watch from the balcony. We had told DW’s parents we would be back there waving while they watched on the Fishlips webcam.

Here are some pictures taken as we headed out through the channel.

We had the early seating for dinner and tonight we would be in the Enchanted Garden. We all got changed and headed down for the 5:45 seating. Our table mates were already seated. We would be joined on the cruise by the Couch family from Atlanta. They had 2 boys (one the same age as DS) and one girl. They were also on their first Disney cruise and were great company during the trip.

I don’t recall what we had but I do know it was good. The servings were a bit on the small side but the presentation was good. Our server and assistant server were also excellent and were great with the kids.

After finishing eating, we headed for the shops as DW wanted to find a hoodie to help take the chill off. The shops were pretty crowded but she did find a DCL hoodie and Declan found some new Vinylmation characters. As soon as there finished the doors open for the first night’s show – the Golden Mickeys.

We then headed to the District Lounge for Family Feud. Guess who was the first family picked – US!! We were one of 4 families picked to compete in the DCL version of Family Feud. Unfortunately we didn’t win. If you have never seen the game, they start out by asking a question about each family member and then that person has to guess what they picked. It started out with the youngest, so Declan for us. The question was “Which character would describe you?” Two of the choices were Mr Incredible and Goofy. Being the proud dad that I am, I convinced DW that we should pick Mr Incredible but Declan decided on Goofy. That put us behind and with the others cheating, we couldn’t catch up

Once the game was over we were getting tired so we just strolled around and ended up by the pools. There were still a few people hanging out watching the movie but we grabbed some snacks from Flo’s and headed back to the cabin for the night.

Thanks for reading along. Part 3 will be about Nassau.

Another great update! Nice that you had another great family to enjoy your meals with you...I always wonder what it would be like if you got yutz's :rotfl2:

I did laugh when you said he'd pick Mr Incredible and I knew right away he probably picked Goofy...you really should listen to your wife, she is right most of the time! Hi Pooksma!!!!

If I had a balcony like that I would have headed for it too! Great choice!

I really wanted to pick Goofy but I thought I would be the nice dad. I guess that didn't get me anywhere. :lmao:
