Disney Magic - 05/10/13 (May 10, 2013) - Calling All Kids At Heart

The Magic is back in Galveston this morning. I had this idea & decided to send co-workers a meeting invite for Friday 5/10 @ 4:30pm with the link to the Webcam...meeting says you are invited to watch me sail away on the Disney Magic. Geeky I know, but I fun!

Just looked today for family of 3 and all of these cateorgies are now being offered for our sailing.

I am disappointed in the rates so i guess i am glad i didnt cancel to wait to book these.....they are higher than i thought they would be.

That's a good idea...I was waiting until we boarded the ship.

Does Disney automatically add the gratituties to your on-board account or do they still provide the envelopes at the end of the cruise?

If I'm remembering correctly, on our cruise in April 2012 we got the envelopes and then I noticed where they were on our final on-board bill too.

On Monday Disney offered military discounted rates for this sail date (which happens to be my birthday) So with a little bit of spontaneity and a whole lot of excitement, myself, my husband, and our two children (12/10) (shhh.. it’s a Easter surprise) will be joining you on our first Disney Cruise.

I am a big Disney Fan, and we travel to WDW every year (soon to be annual pass holders now as new Florida residents) but when it comes to cruising I know nothing. What are the top things every first time cruiser should know? and how do we sign up for an FE (that is once I figure out what an FE is).

Thanks in advance for all advice given.....

51 Days between me and Disney. I hope DCL is as great as WDW

Hello everybody, cant wait to cruise in May. I am traveling with my wife, 4 year old daughter, my son who will turn one on May 19, and my mother in law.

We just booked because of the military discount as well. We were just on the Magic October and had a great time. Disney service is unmatched.
FE is Fish Extender (You hang them from the fish on the wall outside your room). We did this in October and was a lot of fun. You give the people signed up in your group little gifts one time or each day, whichever you like to do. They in return give you things. I can be anything, a lot of stuff we enjoyed on the last cruise was the stuff people gave personalized from the city they are from. It is a lot of fun, checking your fish extender for different gifts and giving them out as well.

Just wondering if anyone has received their cruise packet from DCL yet? This will be our first DCL cruise; we've cruised only on Royal Caribbean previously. From what I understand this packet will include our luggage tags. What else is included?

I have our boarding form ready (completed early & assigned an early check in time :cheer2:), have booked the port adventures we want to do, and kind of scoped out our day at WDW. We also have our hotel and parking booked. We are ready to be on board! :)

I don't think we will participate in the FE since it is just my dh and myself. We are a "seasoned" couple, so I didn't know if this was more for families with young children. Input would be great.

Hi all!

It will be me Jem, my husband Brian, plus our 2 boys Bobby and Riley. We would like to participate in the FE. I also emailed Becca the below information. This will be our 4th Disney Cruise. Looking forward to meeting everyone. Is there a Facebook page?

Can somebody explain this dining rotation to me? We can choose our rotation? What is the best place to dine? P,L, or A? Does each night have a theme? Where can one learn about these themes? How formal is formal..

Oh and how are people checking on how full/not full our ships are? What does IGT VGT rates stand for and what is DD, DW, and DH? Ones needs a doctoral degree to follow this board.. Any assistance with all my questions would be appreciated.

We are rookie DCL cruisers (have only cruised Royal Caribbean), but here's what has been explained to us about the dining rotation.

On your Key to the World you will have your assigned rotation for evening dining in each of the dining rooms. (KTTW - This is like your on board credit card. it will also serve as your room key.) Your wait staff will rotate with you each evening to your assigned dining room, so they will know you. You don't need to choose a dining room since it will be assigned for each evening.

As far as themes go, the. only one I know of is Pirate Night. I believe this is the evening after we are at WDW. There is a show outside on deck followed with a fireworks show from the ship. Really looking forward to this!

DD= Dear Daughter
DW= Dear Wife
DH = Dear Husband
IGT = Inside Guarantee
VGT = Veranda Guarantee
Guarantee cabins will be assigned at a later time rather than a specific cabin when booking the cruise. I know of no way to actually tell how full a ship is for sailing. Seems to be a safely guarded secret by cruiselines. :)

I just booked this cruise today. While it may seem strange, it will just be my husband and myself. The day we board is my birthday. What a way to celebrate!

I a few questions:

/QUOTE]

We share a birthday...... I can't think of a better way to spend my 33 birthday.

Denamo, thanks or he prompt reply. I have read on this DB of a golden Mickey night and a princess night... Do you know what that is about. Thx for the reply. I tried to reply (quote) you but still learning this board, but it appears we share the same BDAY.

51 days way to many away...

It might help you to read the navigators from a past cruise with our same itinerary, to help you get an idea of what to expect. Post 98 on this thread has a link to a past navigator.

The past navigators are a great way to see what to expect each day. Each ship has different broadway style shows and slightly different restaurants. We've cruised with Disney 3 times on 3 different ships. We still need to do the Fantasy. I believe the Golden Mickeys is on the Wonder and Dream. Go to the Disney Cruise Line's website and select " Ships and Activities" and you can see what is offered on each ship. Before our first Disney cruise I spent countless hours on the web searching for information. It was a lot of info and I'm still learning! This site is a great place to share and gain information so ask away! One fun tip is buy/make magnets to decorate your stateroom door plus it makes it a lot easier to find too!
