“To all who come to this happy place, welcome….” To the newest and most recent trip report of mine! Katt! Those of you who know me, Welcome back! Those of you who are new readers, hi! *waves* I hope you’re ready for the most magical and pixie dust filled trip report ever! Along with amazing journeys, lots of pictures, and tons of our favorite things, and of course, lots of delicious Disney noms that lead us to find out that being “food drunk” is in fact a thing! You should also be warned that we are pretty derpy, frumpy, and ridiculous, and our pictures and stories definitely reflect that!

Hold onto your hats cause this is the wildest ride in the wilderness!!


Who:

First off, there’s me; Katt:

Ballroom, ballet, jazz dancer and Disney enthusiast by day, and bartender by night at your local Dinner Theatre (up here in Calgary Canada that is!) I’ve been traveling to Disney for a nearly two years now and have experienced something new and amazing with every trip that has occurred. My dream for life right now involves performing with Disney in some form, whether I’m *friends* with a princess, performing in a parade, or even hanging out with Chip and Dale, it’s all cool. My ultimate dream job would be to be the Blue Bird Dancer in the Festival of the Lion King Show, UGH, SO MUCH LOVE!

My favorite characters include: Tink, Periwinkle, Rapunzel, Ariel, Lottie (Princess & the Frog) Tigger, and the Bimbettes from Beauty and the Beast, I have a huge love for Splash Mountain, the music loop from Adventureland, and falling down stories in broken service elevators!

Now, the person I’m taking with me on this trip, is Paige:

She’s recently turned 19, and had the amazing birthday/Christmas present surprise of this trip! We have traveled together to Disney once before, last Sept, and had the trip of a life time. This girl is the sister I never had, and I will keep going to Disney with her until we’re dead (and let’s face it, at that point, we’ll be the newest residences of the Haunted Mansion, lol!) Her favorite characters include Tink, Rapunzel, Ariel, and Jack Skellington, and she loves flying through Space, terrifying elevators, racing through the Himalayas, and most importantly, exploring Mickey’s imagination!

When: Sunday February 24 to Saturday March 2
-We had originally planned for the weekend right after my dance competition, but I realized that’s opening of the next show at work and I couldn’t take that off, so we bumped it a week, then I checked crowd calendars, yeah, not happening! Eventually we replanned to a low week of the month and we were all set to go!

Where: Disney’s Pop Century Resort!!
-Since I was gifting the trip to Paige, as much as I would have loved to stay at a Deluxe or Mod, I was only wanting to spend the money for a Value, and Pop is the nicest (minus AoA, but we had stayed there last time, so it’s all good!)

I like staying at different resorts every time too, it adds to the experience for Paige, and I love Pop, it is a really nice resort for the price, plus, I got a pretty nice discount with my AP!

As I earlier said, Paige and I traveled together to Disney in Sept of last year, and it was so amazing that I decided to gift her this trip as a birthday/Christmas present. We had a little get together before Christmas where I put together this little scrapbook of everything we had done on our last trip, and then included some pictures from New Fantasyland, and titled it “all the stuff we’re going to do in the future. Too bad we’re going to have to wait so long.

Yeah…58 days sure is a pretty long time hey?”

And on the next page was the “Surprise! We’re going to Disney World” page with the details of our trip! A friend of mine managed to catch the surprise on video, so here’s a look at that:

I also tweeted pretty frequently in the parks thanks to the free wifi, so through the trip report will be little tweets, they’re all centered, italicized, and bolded for ya so you can tell the difference. They’re just a little extra of my “thought of the moment” kinda thing!

YUP! That early was how early our day started ladies and gents, and I’m pretty sure that Paige was in fact up earlier! Eeek! I had worked the night before, and come home, threw the last of my things in my carry on bag, and had a nice little “nap” before I got up to get on my way to the airport, it was Disney time! A little after getting up and getting dressed, I jumped on the phone with a cab company….to find it busy…and then my DERPY self realized, it was Saturday night, at 3:00 in the morning, prime time for leaving bars. SERIOUSLY?! AAAAHHH!! I was super quick to text Paige and thankfully they were right around the corner from my house, so they swung by to pick me up on the way!

We actually ended up arriving at the airport before the counters to get the baggage tags were even open, so we checked in on the machines and then set in for a bit of a wait. Since the entire airport was just opening now, we had a bit of a back up at customs and security, but it wasn’t as bad as it could have been!

Since it was the last stop before we’d officially be out of Canada, we decided to grab some Tim Hortan’s for breakfast, and ate in the restaurant before heading over to the gate to board. Little fact: every trip I have gone to Disney World (which is a LOT lol) there has been a family who has been at the gate with us in Calgary and all the way through to the Magical Express lines, and today was no different!

Now to bore you with flight details: we were a bit delayed taking off from Calgary, I *think* it was defrosting or something of the sort, but who knows. We had a stopover in Denver, and were on the search to find some café that was supposedly upstairs in the little area, when we found something WAY BETTER!

Naturally, I got the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza! Also, I may add that it was about 9 in the morning at this point, but having already been up for so long, I was eating lunch. No probs.

Paige got some kind of chicken spinach with cheese and pecan salad. (Okay, so I may have made half of that up, but it was a tasty salad and it had a bunch of awesome stuff in it!)

We had enough time to eat before boarding the next plane, and we were excited to be on our way!

Look, I was awake enough to even take a picture out the window, such a pretty sky, haven’t been seeing nice blue skies up here recently, boourns to winter!!

The second flight was okay for a bit, but somewhere along an hour in we were stuck in some MAJOR turbulence, so much that I was actually woken up by it, and Pagie and I were kinda freaked out, but hey, it worked out okay and we were landing in Orlando soon enough!

YAAAAY WE’RE HERE!! It was of to the baggage claim where Paige was all “monorail!” and I was all “NO! FAKE O-RAIL! There is no POR FAVOR!” She now understands…

But hey, it is really nice to be seeing all those palm trees from the fake o rail, and the smells! OH THE SMELLS! When you arrive it’s just so magical, it’s like, step one of knowing that I’m HOME!

We lucked out with our baggage claim being on the same side as the Magical Express, and the bus was there waiting for us when we got there. It was pretty full, but that meant we didn’t have to wait before we left!

YAY! WE’RE HERE! WE’RE HERE! WE’RE HERE!

UGH, the video on the ME never fails to make me cry. Heck, I’m tearing up just thinking about it right now! I also like how they have the video that summaries so much of the parks, it definitely got us excited, especially because that crazy elevator is waiting just for US! Yay! The bus driver was nice enough to let us know when we were going under the sign, but I still didn’t manage to get a picture, Paige thoughtfully got one of the side signs though! Yay!

Our bus stopped in at Art of Animation first, *sigh* our home from the last trip! So awesome, gotta love that resort, but we were happy to be staying somewhere different this time, and hopefully closer to the bus stops!

Welcome home! AH! We had managed to arrive at Pop right at 5:45pm, doing pretty good considering our flight landed closer to 4:00! I had done online check in, so it was quickly though to the desk we went!

All I had requested when I did online check in was “close to transportation” and we were! I mean, not as close as we could be, but we were still in the building directly to the right of the lobby (when you’re looking at the lobby when you get off the ME), in the 50’s, up on the 4 th floor! Here’s a look around the room, I mean, it’s nothing fancy, but hey, I’ve got the pictures, so I’ll share them, right!?

There ya go! Your basic value resort standard room, pretty plain, but with only 2 of us, there was more than enough space, and we were more than happy with the mini fridge! Yay!

Paige and I had a special event to get to tonight, so we quickly threw on some make up, re did our hair, and got all dolled up to head out! You may ask, “All dolled up? In a theme park?” Well, I guess you could say we were looking rather dapper when we headed out, because we were headed to the parks on Dapper Day!

Dapper Day is an event organized NOT by Disney, where people come to the parks dressed up, as they did back when Disneyland had just opened. A lot of people will dress up in “50’s” wear to really get the feeling down. So, if you saw a bunch of people dressed up in Magic Kingdom on Sunday the 24 th, that would be why! They had a bunch of “meet ups” planned throughout the day, and if we were lucky, we would be able to make one of them, whether we did or not, you’ll have to stick around to find out!

Thanks all!! I don't have a bunch of pictures from Dapper Day, but I at least have some of us haha. If I'd had more planning time we would've really gone all out, and I definitely want to, but that'll come when I'm living down there haha! It was a lot of fun!!

I hadn't heard a lot about it either until recently. It was super awesome, over in California they had an entire elevator car full of dappers on TOT, I would love to do something like that. I definitely plan on going back and even more dappered up!

Baha! The night I surprised her we were at the zoo and every so often she would just turn to me and be in tears all over again, it was definitely magical!

Baha! I had to go back and look and I *think* it's a white belt, you can kinda see the same color as the shorts on top of the white part, and and belt loop makes it look like a crack. Lawl. Here's hoping it's a belt!

I've yet to stay at Pop but I've heard awesome things about it! The room looks simple but nice.
