I just made our first reservation using our new DVC Membership. Our timeline was:

Thurs 1/3: Made offer, received counter, made counter which was accepted.

Fri 1/4: Signed contract and mailed in Escrow Deposit

Tues 1/29: Disney waived ROFR

Thur 1/31: Received closing documentation

Sat 2/2: Mailed documents and check back.

Tues 2/5: Escrow Closed.

Fri 2/15 (today): Called DVC for the first time and they gave me my Member Number and ID (I wonder if it was available earlier?). I then logged on and made my first reservation.

Total time from making our first offer to making our first reservation was 43 days. We worked with Jerry at the Timeshare Store and Magic Vacation Title.
We had no problems or hiccups along the way, was easy and painless.

That is a crazy fast timeline, congrats. I only hope that others reading this don't think of this as the norm, or there will be problems.

Yes, from my research here, I was surprised at how quick everything clicked along. Timeshare Store and Magic Vacation Title were right on top of things, and kept things moving. The seller also returned his documents as quick as I did mine. So I guess if everyone is motivated in the same direction, you can get through at this speed.

I made an offer yesterday (2/15) morning, e-mailed signed paperwork last night, and today (2/16) we have already been notified that the contract was submitted for ROFR. I am hoping the rest of the process goes as quickly! (Also using Timeshare Store.)

Wow, that was quick. Mine so far-

1/11 - Submitted full price offer on 150 point BWV
1/23- FINALLY received correct contract and email back (w/ CC deposit)
2/19 - Disney waived ROFR

So it has taken me about the same time to get through ROFR as it took you to complete and book a reservation. Ha!

this is why we hesitate at resale: you've spent the $$ but still have no product. Sure your product is there just not available to you.

True...but in our case, we just closed this week on our newest 100 BLT points...we started the process on January 27th and hope to have these added to our account within this next week. Since we already have our 2013 trips booked and set, waiting the extra time to have access to the points was well worth the $7000 we saved over what it would have cost to buy direct and have immediate access to points.

As long as someone plans for the 2 month time frame for resale, then it can make the savings worth it.

Yeah, but if someone told me I could buy a car on the lot today for say $18,000 or wait for the next shipment to come in about 60-70 days later and get one for $9,000, I think I would wait.

FYI for all those newbies waiting on the contracts and wondering the timeline (I was one of you up until a few hours ago).

1/22 Offer/Counter Offer on BCV 210 Pts
1/23 Signed and Sent to ROFR
2/20 Passed ROFR
2/28 Received Closing Docs Signed and Over-nighted Bank Check
3/6 Seller Submitted Closing Docs
3/7 Closed and sent to Disney for Transfer
3/13 Started calling CM to see if I was in system, but I was not
3/18 Member ID in System but no points (Got ID over the phone told would be 5 to 7 days for Points to Load)
3/19 Got Activation code for website and points were loaded (Not 5-7 days like CM indicated)

So, Just a hair under 2 months with one of those months being Feb.

I used a broker whose name is not allowed on this site.

Now off to book

I'm getting nervous now. My parents closed on 3/4 and are still (as of this afternoon) not in the system with DVC. Any advice?
