Will this be doable?

Our flight home was changed to a 2:45 departure. We currently have a 11:15 ADR at Chef Mickey...will we be able eat and get to the airport?:drive: We have a rental that we'll turn in..I have tried each day to get an earlier ADR but nothing has been avaiable:crazy2:

It's not impossible but I suppose its what you're like. I know I would not enjoy Chef Mickeys as I would be worrying about getting to the airport. That's because I'm very conscientious and worry about the littlest things.
If you do manage to sit down at 11:15 then say you are there for an hour. 12:15. Getting back to your car (assuming you've parked at TTC) 12:45. Drive to OIA. 1:15/1:20. I don't know how long it will take you to drop off car rental but seems plenty of time if you stick to times.

Can you eat in 45 minutes? If yes then its do able? What day of the week? need to also return a rental car, check in the flight (unless you do it online), chek your bags(if any), go through MCO security. Cutting it real close

It's on a Monday...would it pay to show up early and plead our case to the CM checking us in? Our original flight was 1:20 later:sad2:

Will you have your luggage with you or can you do RAC with it? If you're just dealing with carry-ons and you get seated on time and can eat quickly and don't have traffic slow downs on the way and MCO security lines are moving........ well, you might be OK.

And awful lot of "ands" though;). I guess the answer is it depends on your tolerance for risk

We are flying southwest so RAC is an option...does it pay to call the reservation line or do they see the same thing I do online....:worried: guess I'll keep trying to change the time, maybe I'll be luckypixiedust:

Keep trying to change time of reservation even if you have to ask concierge when you are actually there. If that doesn't work, I would show up early. They may seat you earlier.

Thanks...Chef Mickey is the only place my kids requested...for the fab 5. Hopefully it will work out.

IMHO, no. We have gone to WDW many times a year and have flown out of either MCO or TPA. MCO, in my opinion, has some of the slowest security lines. Plus, you are planning on not having to wait for your seats. I have had to wait up to 30 minutes at Chef Mickey's. That would put you to 11:45. Even if you eat in 30 minutes, that will be 12:15. You then have to walk to your car, drive to the airport, wait to turn it in (that's a popular flight time). I always get to MCO 2 hours before my flight time. I mean, in the security line 2 hours before my flight time. Remember flights begin to board 20 minutes before their take off.

I have only flown out of Orlando (MCO) once (Jan 2004) and what we thought was a decent cushion had us running for our lives to catch our plane. We did not anticipate the lines to check luggage and the security checkpoint. Things may be a bit different now but I would not risk it, just not worth the risk.

Keep trying for a 10am ADR.

I think you're perfectly, completely fine if you leave by 12:45, that's half and hour to get to the airport (on a Monday mid day when traffic should be low) and another half an hour to go through security (again a low time) with an hour to spare...

That said, show up early, it won't hurt!

That's not a popular flight time for the big business pushes, is it unique to Orlando? We've left around that time on MANY Mondays and its always been a ghost town? I fly every week and when I get the middays on Monday I usually think I just won the jackpot - but I originate out of Nashville with all kinds of destinations. Now, first flights on Mondays (which I usually take:() are the worst I see all week, and Thursday/Friday afternoons; all those consultants have to get home!

MCO is notoriously hit or miss with security/check-in. At times it's taken us 10 minutes, others an hour. Don't forget you still have to wait for the trams to take you to the terminal and if you're at the last gate, it can take 10-15 minutes just to get to the gate from security. MCO is one of the few airports you really need to have the 2 hours. (I usually fly out of BWI and Manchester NH. Manchester you can literally get there 1/2 hour before the flight as they are boarding. It's easy to forget not all airports are that way!)

MCO's security always has a crazy line. We get there at like 4:30 for a 8:15pm flight!

Not in a billion years. I would be so stressed out and antsy thinking about how close it would be cutting it... I am not sure you could even make it.:confused3 I think character meals normally take 1-1.5 hours. If you are actually going to do the meal. Then getting out of the contemporary to your parked car to the airport ....oh heck no. I would try for another day at chef mickeys or earlier that same day. We have an 8:30 Ohana ressie for departure day and a 3:10 flight and it still concerns me a tad:rotfl:

My hubby just booked a Cape May breakfast at 10:00. I have until 24hrs before to cancel without being charged right? Here's hoping something opens up in the next couple weekspixiedust:

My experience with a late Chef Mickey breakfast ressie is that they're not that busy by then and if you arrive a little early you'll get seated early. That said you're still going to cut it close at the airport. What if there is a traffic tie up?

No way would I do that at Orlando. We go at least annually and the lines, all days and all times, are very long.
You also said this was the one request your kids had to see the Fab Five. It can take more than an hour for them to circulate. Would you be able to leave, if you were running late, and hadn't seen them all?
I just would not enjoy it.
Good Luck
