Question- OKW and elevators?

Does this resort NOT have elevators?

if not how many floors is there-- (in order to know how many flights of stairs we would have to climb. with babies, strollers and wheel chair

There are only 3 buildings which DO have elevators - I believe they are all located near the Hospitality House. Request a ground floor room if you have alot of things to haul up. The buildings there consist of either 2 or 3 floors.

going up stairs for one floor should not be a problem-- but the third floor will be an issue.

and with our luck in getting room request for our three stays elsewhere-- I could probably bet that is where we would get.

Now I am worried

There are so many rooms there that requesting NO 3rd floor should be granted. Our requests there have always been met. When you call for a reservation make sure you request either a building with an elevator or a first or second floor room. In December we are bringing my mom who has ambulation issues - we are requesting a ground floor. She could never make it to the 3rd floor.

Have a good trip!

i am reading the OKW lovers thread-- trying to get a grip on room request
good rooms vs bad rooms-- and needless to say I am in over my head.

Request a first floor villa since you have a wheelchair to maneuver. The three buildings with elevators are usually reserved for medical needs. If you have a wheelchair, request medical needs, but not handicap accessible unless you need that as well.

The OKW villas are the largest on the property and may make it very comfortable for you. OKW is our favorite resort.

Its a very big resort and most rooms have a nice view of the water or golf course. It depends also on how close to the Hospitality House you want to be. Online you can find a map of the resort and the building numbers. We liked building 35 in Turtle Point last year - bus stop (we didn't use because we had a car) was across the street and building was set back and overlooked a pond. Bldgs 45 and 46 are a 5 min walk to the HH and overlook the canal to Downtown Disney. We stayed in the South Point section 2 weeks ago - buildings 53-54-55-56 are pretty quiet and have a quiet pool and near transportation. We had blg 52 and were in a room pretty much right on top of the bus stop and it was loud in the AM with the busses starting/stopping/beeping. I didn't like it (it was a girls' weekend and we were utilizing busses- I requested near transportation and they sure put us there! LOL).
Will you have a car?

Melissa

Since you have a wheel chair are you in a HA room? If so, I am pretty sure you can guarantee either a 1st floor room or a building that does have an elevator.

There are only 5 buildings with studios or 1 bedrooms on the third floor - 14, 18, 35, 38, 64. The rest of the third floors are 2 bedrooms or the 2nd floor of grand villas. 62, 63, 64 are the elevator buildings.

Have the owner link the reservations as "traveling together". Then you might be close to each other. Studios are usually at the ends of the building. So you might be on top of each other or at opposite ends of the building for the studios. And if you are really lucky, your one bedroom might lock off from one of your studios.

Last summer we had 2 rooms, a 2 bedroom and a 1 bedroom. We requested to be put in the same building and were granted that request. We stayed on the second floor and had 2 babies and a stroller and that was not bad at all. Definitely doable and not so inconvenient. We stayed in building 27 which was great...close but not too close to transportation and close to hospitality house.
