2013 Free Dining Watch

He also said you could book it until July 31st, which would coincide with when FD is usually announced for late Fall. Fingers crossed!

Specifically, he said April 2 for stays June 13 to Aug 14. More details tonight.

Sorry...he started a thread after I posted here about his other post in the "where are you Danny" thread where he said nothing until April. I wonder why he didn't mention the deal at all there??? Weird...not a very big timeframe for the new deal. I guess we will see later what he really knows. Happy waiting, everyone! :)

I would find free dining hard to believe as early as June 13. In fact, they even charge a premium for their dining plans from May 31-August 3. I doubt they would offer it free when it has peak pricing. I would bet on a room discount of some sort during this time.

Free dining has historically started around August 15ish....

I would expect the summer promotion to be the room discount (value=15%, Moderate=20%, Deluxe=30%), which has happened during the summer before. They usually run til mid-August and are then followed by free dining....this is how it has been in the past.

Yuck, I am not liking the fact that they are just offering a summer discount April 2ND. I will be waiting until September for anything for November. I really don't like what I am seeing this year with the changes in promotions or the release dates.

I agree. We've gone the last week of August for the past couple of years because of the free table service plan at moderate resorts. I heard somewhere that UK citizens were offered a counter service plan for moderates and a table service plan for deluxe. Since UK offers are usually different from US offers (at least to my knowledge), we will hopefully see a free dining plan offer more in line with the bounceback that was offered to guests for this same time period this year.

It's gonna be super disappointing if they don't offer FD in the month of sept geez. :( they're being all weird about it this year. Still holding out.

There have already been CM's talking about upcoming free dining. I realize they don't know it all, but I think people have a sense of what's going on. Free dining has, with the exception of last year, almost always been offered sometime in April for the August-September dates. If anything, I would expect the dates to end a bit earlier in September; however, I don't imagine the offer will be different from last year (QS for Value, TS for Mod/Deluxe).

I've been playing this game for many many years, and the tealeaves may get a little cloudy, but they're still not that hard to read.

I posted this in another thread, but maybe a look at history will help settle nerves.

So far, everything is making perfect sense to be the same as years before.

Some history:
2009 - Free dining began 8/16 and was available for booking on 3/30.
The summer room only discount expired on 8/14 and became available on 3/29.

2010 - Free dining began 8/15 and was available for booking on 4/29.
The summer room only discount expired on 8/8 and became available on 5/7.

2011 - Free dining began on 8/28 and was available for booking on 4/28.
The summer room only discount expired on 8/13 and became available on 4/1.

2012 - Free dining began on 8/25 and was available for booking on 3/1.
The summer room only discount expired on 8/14 and became available on 4/2.

Thanks !!! Thanks for going into detail with that Its still unsettling but we will have to be patient.

If it helps, the bounceback free dining offer from last fall had dates starting 8/18. The summer promotion that begins booking on 4/2 will have dates ending on 8/14...just in time for the fall dates to start a few days later...just as they've done in the past.

Also, historically, free dining dates for Disney Visa holders are dropped on a Thursday. Shall we say, April 25th?

Correct me if I am wrong, but with the exception of last year, Free Dining for August/September had been announced in the first week of April? I've booked it for five out of the nine years they have been running the promotion.

These are actually the dates available for Disney Visa members, which drop a few days before the public.

Just saw the previous post. I was off by a couple of weeks, but it's still most likely going to be announced in April.

It might inconsequential, but if you go back further, I think you'll see that the end of the first week of April was standard at the beginning? Not that it matters... I'm going to fathom a guess that last year was an anomaly and we won't hear anything til mid-April.
