Cheaper rate thru orbitz but have double res now

I've used Orbitz MANY times in the past for those who are concerned.

I also wanted to update on my experience with Disney thus far. I booked on Orbitz last week. The next day, I got my Disney number from orbitz (chatted wiht CS) and then called Disney to add the reservation and cancel my Disney reservation. It as added to the MDE site. My 60 day mark was 2 days ago and I did online checking. At that time, I changed the address because when you book through Orbitz, the reservation ends up with Orbitz' address (it's always like this, regardless of the hotel). I put in two requests - lake view and highest floor available.

Let's see... I still need to call and add my celebrations. I couldn't do that when Disney "adopted" the reservation. I also have to call and get celebrations added to my dining reservations since I made those online so I have to do both at the same time... So far it has been very easy.

When you got your Disney confirmation number and added it to MDE, did it show your kids as children? I booked 1 adult, 1 child...but when I pull up my confirmation on the Disney site, it shows 2 adults. Orbitz has assured me that the correct information has been passed on to the resort.

I would feel better if I could get it on MDE, but it won't let me without saying my 6 year old is an adult.

I called Disney and they said they cannot share any information with me since I booked through Orbitz.

I just called and the CM pulled up my reservation just fine with the 12 digit number i requested from Orbitz but I hit a road block when I couldn't verify the address (it was Orbitz's, not mine). I just did online check in and changed to address to mine, so I am going to call back later today and try to add the kids again w/o mentioning it is an Orbitz reservation. Will update later.

BTW- What is the ME website? I can't find it.

Just FYI the "child vs. adult" issue does not seem to matter if you are booking a family suite at either AoA or ASMu.

I put in 5 guests (2 adults, 3 kids, 1 room) and did a search with the Spring20 code and came up with this for 6 nights:

$1232.26 for ASMu
$1540.96 for AoA.

The results were exactly the same when I entered 1 Adult, 1 child or 2 adults.

Unfortunately this does not help me since the other families traveling with us are all staying in standard rooms and none of them want to stay at All Star Music. They would love to stay at AoA but there are no standard rooms available there. I am just not sure whether it is worth changing our POP AP reservation and then having to deal with the hassle of adding the kids, especially if the others are not on board and our linked reservations get all messed up.

You will just have to weigh the pros and cons. It saved me almost $600 so was worth it for me! $100...prob not!

First orbitz booking so... Was lost.

For ME you can call after 3 days ( as told to me by ME operator) or
Go to www.disneysmagicalexpress.com you can enter the 6 digit confirmation number(mix of numbers and letters, that came in email )and follow prompts. At the end I received an email confirmation.

I scheduled my ME on Wed 3/6 online.
I got emails about both of my trips from ME right away and got return booklet already.
It looks the same as when you book at Disney.
I have not received my 4/3 arrival yet but will call if don't get by Saturday since I got return booklet this past Monday (3/11).

For those with kids.... I called Orbitz and it took me two days and many phone calls to get someone who knew how to add the kids. I booked a ressie with 2 adults told them that children were not charged in Disney. One lady got it and easily took my kids info and faxed the request to add the two kids onto the ressie over at POR. A few hours later I put the 12 digit code into the Disney site and it shows 2 adults and 2 children. I then booekd ME online because trying to call them got me no where. They could not accesss my ressie even with the 12 digit number. My info was Orbitz info which I did change online but even when calling it still has Orbitz info. So trying to change it in the computer does not work. I admit is was a HUGE mess but worth it because I saved over 200.00.... Keep calling until you get someone over at Orbitz that know hows to add the kids and fax the info over. I checked with Disney and we are all set. ME however, I still worry about. I booked inline and got a conformation but cannot even talk with anyone over at ME about the ressie because of the Orbitz info.

I called ME last night and they had no problem looking up my reservation. Maybe try again if it will make you feel better.

I love that you guys saved like that with Orbitz. Really hoping they will do the same for summer travel. Keep me posted if you see anything pop up. I'm trying to remember to check Orbitz through ebates regularly.
:cool1:

Do you remember the name of the person who helped you at Orbitz? Maybe if I could reference the person faxing the info it would help. Thanks.

Tried the code at work and got a discount. Tried it just now and it wasn't valid. Strange. Anyone have that problem?

Just tried to book with the code SPRING20 and its no longer valid, but
SPRING15 still works.

I tried doing fake booking and it says that the discount code spring20 is no longer valid. The code was supposed to expire on March 5, but they must have left it on longer, but no more.

Dont know when you are traveling/where staying but per anoother thread on the discount area there is a discount program that Disney is annnouncing in early April. (not free dining!) Hopefully this will work for you.

Okay so I just gave this a shot. Booked AKL for 200 cheaper with 2 adults and 2 kids. Booked only with 2 adults online with orbitz. Called orbitz 2 hours after booking and the lovely rep contacted disney (while i was on hold) for my 12 digit ressie number and added my kids. It was very easy. I was on the phone for 30 minutes...26 on hold. I also emailed before calling but decided to call. However they pulled my 12 digit ressie and added kids as well via email and within 3 hours. The kids have not shown on my profile for Disney yet but I know they have to fax that in so I expect it to take some.

Did they tell you when to call back to add the celebrations? I am assuming that it would be around the same time you could call to add kids. Must have something to do with the computer and status of the ressie.

Hi, they did tell me to call back later. But I haven't done it yet...

I was able to do online check-in no problem and change my address from the Orbitz address to my own address and change the names of my party. I also ended up calling Magical Express and setting that up with the 12 digit Disney reservaiton number and that was easy too. I booked 2 adults, 3 kids via Orbitz. Since I'm staying at a suite, they don't charge extra for the kids. Suites allow up to 6 adults. However, it should be pretty easy to add on the kids later on. I think that once you can mess with it on My Disney Experience, you should be able to add the kids.

I just called Disney directly....after changing my address/phone # thru the online check in screens....and added the 3 kids to my ressie. He said for future issues to please contact orbitz :rolleyes1 but had no problem adding the kids for me. I didn't mention orbitz, so it shows in their system. I just went back into my ressie on MDE and it has all 5 of us now. :woohoo:

Were you able to see the kids later the same day? I called Disney this morning, but the guy said I had to call Orbitz - wouldn't change a thing. I chatted with Orbitz online this afternoon and the guy called to add my kids, then said he also had to send over a fax. He said in our chat that the updated reservation could only be seen or viewed manually in the hotel's system upon check in. Thought that was odd. I'll wait until the morning and check MDE again. If it's not there, I may just call Disney to double check. I'm sure this will all work out, but I need reassurance!!

Thanks!
