How long for toe injury

I badly injured my baby toe. I had an xray, but doc said she didn't see any breaks. It's been three weeks and I still have sharp pains when I bend it, put on shoes or walk.

Anyone ever have a toe injury that took this long to heal?

YOU HAVE A LONG ROAD AHEAD! Lucky you are close to entering sandal season. I have had breaks or what was not a break many many times in the baby toe and let me tell you it is PAINFUL and takes MONTHS to heal. I had to have it operated on.

I did my toe boo-boo back in September and I am still having issues. It effects both my little toe and the one next to it. They are cold all the time, so I can't wait for it to get warmer. I hate shoes for the most part, so this is making it even worse.

I broke my pinkie toe at the beginning of Jan and it really didn't feel back to normal until about 2 weeks ago.

DH dropped a tire on his foot at work yesterday and he was up all night. Even the sheet rubbing made it throb. It's all black and blue between his big toe and the next so something is probably broken. It sounds like he's got a long road ahead too. I hope yours feels better soon.

Ouch! :-(. You have my sympathies...I am really clumsy and have broken toes many times. After the first few times, I didn't go to the doctor anymore. (These were all the smaller toes--if it had been the big toe, or more of the foot was involved, I would have gone in. YMMV on that one, though.). All that worked was taping the toe to the one next to it, wearing sandals as much as possible, and waiting it out. Usually about a month or so, it would get better.

When I was about 8 months pregnant and could no longer see my feet, I ran into the floor post of our bed. I broke my baby toe and it was swollen for weeks and sore for months. Unfortunately there's not much you can do for it. Wear more comfortable shoes and it will heal. Just got to give it some time.

I forgot to add that the only sneakers that are comfortable when I go to WDW are men's size 7 quadruple E! Yes you read it right quadruple E!! Sadly Rebok no longer makes this size. HONEST my feet look like Mickey's but there is nothing I can do if I do not want to walk around in pain! And this is after YEARS.

You've got a way to go. I dislocated one and broke another in May a few years back. I couldn't put on close-toe shoes until I finally went to a podiatrist in October and got a steroid shot in the toe. Sandals will be your friend. Good luck.

I'm rather injury prone, and honestly, sprains can sometimes be worse than breaks. Did the doc say what she thought the injury actually was?

Be careful with sandals, if you can stand them, sneakers or tennis shoes are better for two reasons. They stabilize the foot/toe more and they are more protective is someone steps on them.

P.S. I just broke a pinky toe last night for the second time...and I head to Disney in just over a week.:scared1:

I'm terribly accident prone. I've broken both big toes once each and my pinky toe once. Once I dropped a pile of fire wood on it, then a cast iron skillet fell on it and finally it got caught in a door. It took me close to a month before it really healed.

Boy, I could have written this question-only it wasn't just one toe, it was several. At first the doctor sent me for an Xray to be sure nothing was broken, then she feared a bone infection, but all was OK. But it's taking so darn long to heal! I'm 8 weeks out, and just yesterday I could put on athletic shoes. Before that, it was only sandals-shoes were just for short periods of time. So I figure it'll be another 2 months or so, partly because I've got a 60 yo foot with arthritis, not a 20 yo foot.

I injured mine last May (dislocated it over Memorial Day weekend) and I'm still having problems. If I stand and/or walk for too long it can swell up. The problem with foot injuries is unless you can stay off your foot for an extended period of time (and really who can't with jobs and real life) it just makes the recovery time longer. Good luck!

I broke my big toe about 18 months ago and it's only in the past couple of months that it's started to feel normal again. It has been tight, hard to curl, tender under pressure. I've also broken a little toe twice courtesy of door frames and they healed a lot faster than the big toe. I had my son drop a big tin of dog food on my second toe years ago and the edge of the can hit the knuckle of the toe. That took a few weeks to heal.

Good luck with your injury. Everyone heals differently so just take it easy and don't try and force anything.
