Favorite souvenier purchased on Alaskan cruise

This can be either in port or on the ship (if it is related to Alaska). Just wondering what all everyone that has sailed to Alaska with Disney has bought or what those with upcoming cruises may be hoping to purchase.

I bought a beautiful gold necklace of a whale with a diamond chip for the eye. I bought it in an Alaskan-run shop in Skagway (not one of those big conglomerate shops). I wear it all the time; it's one of my favorite necklaces.

I also bought a really nice rabbit fur scarf in Ketchikan. It's wonderfully soft and warm!

I got a set of coins, it was free, I went to jewelry shops around the ports and got the coins with a case. (Along with a sales pitch)

I was definitely planning on check out the Glacier silt soap. I am curious to know if you have enjoyed the soap you purchased.

What type of jacket did you get, fleece or an outerwear.

I love the soap! It lasts a long time I'm still using the ones I bought and its been 4 years. It comes in many different scents but also a non scented one as well. It comes in a cute pouch that's great to give as a gift.

The jacket is an outerwear type unisex jacket with Alaska embroidered on one side.

at ketchakan right along the pier is christmas in alaska store. if you love christmas its a wonderful shop to go to. the people that own the shop also own the santa claus house store in north pole alaska. its a great place to shop, and they actually ship items to your house.

Ulu's are great for cutting pizza!

I got a blob of "copper" ore in Ketchikan. Not sure if it is real copper, but it is copper colored, and I like it on my desk.

I can't really say which was my favorite souvenir, but I do want to put in a plug for Alaskan-owned businesses. Many people don't realize that a ton of the shops in Alaskan cruise ports are set up just for the cruise season and taken down afterwards, owned and run by out of state people. That's why you'll see a lot of the same stuff. I always like to support local businesses, but even more so in resort towns where business often all but dries up in the off-season. I found better, more unique items and comparable pricing in the shops owned by locals.

For the 2011 DCL Alaskan, my parents brought back this oversized "shot glass" (it's more like a tiny beer glass) with the DCL logo, a totem pole and all of the port stops named on there.

They didn't have the same one for 2012...but I bet they'll have it for 2013 since there is no year imprinted and this year DCL is sailing out of Vancouver.

I LOVE this glass...and I drink sake out of it (it's too small for beer, too big for shots, but perfect for sushi & sake )

I also love the glacier silt soap. I'm on my last bar that I bought 2 years ago. And I agree that it makes great gifts. Reasonably priced and authentically Alaskan. Located close to the pier too.

I can't recall how to differentiate between stores, but items actually made in Alaska have a sticker saying so....

I'll second the Christmas in Alaska store as a good place for souvenirs - we picked up a couple of ornaments.

I also got the $20 jacket & have worn it as my winter coat here in Indiana for the last 2 winters. I did have to mend the lining of the pockets, but otherwise has held up well so far.
