Also should add for those that mentioned Dave Ramsey and FPU that we also use that and have paid off all of our credit card debts earlier this year. We're down to our cars (almost paid for) and our house so we've put our debt payoff on hold for our trip this fall. We simply are putting the money we would've put towards debt towards the trip. Dave wouldn't approve of course since we still owe on our cars, but I think that balance needs to be obtained. We're not going into any debt by taking the trip, so making these memories with my family is worth the price. We're going inexpensively like I mentioned before and have a solid budget so it works out.

Hopefully you guys can find a renter soon and get to take your trip!

I agree that there needs to be a balance. Continuing to go to Disney has kept me sane and motivated to keep going with the plan! At this point, we have the house left and are optimistically planning on paying it off next year. Realistically, another 2-3 years is probably a better assessment, but at least we can dream! :wizard:

Mmmmmmm.........Butterbeer  :

ok, us too! Three cheers for Butterbeer! (btw, I think your CM ADR will be fine - where are you staying?

JEALOUS!

And we're staying at AoA. I know it'll be a lot of travel time, but DD is fascinated by the monorail and DS sleeps through everything anyways :rotfl:

Will you be visiting one of the waterparks on your trip? If so, which one? Or perhaps both?

Absolutely will be doing both of them. Though typhoon lagoon will be a very short day we will be doing both for sure

This will be our fourth August family trip in a row and we have never tried the waterparks. This might be the year! We keep putting them off because of the rainy August weather. But I would really like to go to Typhoon Lagoon!

DH's August vacation days were approved and I will be contacting our TA tonight to change our Nov trip to an Aug trip! So glad I went ahead and made all our ADRs already just in case we did have change our plans. Here are our plans. We have 2 boys(age 5 and 2) and know we will be spending most of our time in the Magic Kingdom.

Hit the road Friday, 8/23We don't know yet if we are driving all the way or picking up the auto train in VA(we're in NJ). If we drive, we are not driving straight through and plan on stopping overnight somewhere, most likely in North Carolina.

Arrive in Orlando on Saturday, 8/24. We will stay off site this night. We want a day to rest and get a good night's sleep so we are ready to go on Sunday. We plan on just letting the kids swim in the hotel pool and then heading to Downtown Disney or just going resort hopping...maybe see Wishes from the beach at Poly.

Sunday 8/25- get up bright and early and check into the Contemporary! We'll be in the garden wing. I know our room won't be ready but we want to get our KTTW and head straight to the Magic kingdom. I'm hoping we can make rope drop but if not we will be in the park by 10 the latest. We have lunch at the Plaza at 1:10. We'll head back the room to unpack, do a pool break, and then head back to MK.

Monday 8/26. Epcot day! dinner at garden grill at 5:50

Tuesday 8/27...back to MK. Crystal palace at 8:25. Not sure if we'll head back to MK after our mid-day break or hop back to Epcot for exploring the world showcase and snacking around the world for dinner.

Wed 8/28-morning plans are up in the air. Either HS or epcot. we might eliminate HS since there isnt a lot for the boys there other than TSM. Late afternoon and evening plans are set in stone due to a 4:20 ADR at BOG!!! So we're obviously going to MK.

Thursday 8/29-AK day. Lunch at yak and yeti at 1:30. Most likely heading to MK at night again.

Friday 8/30-park plans are up in the air. 5:15 dinner at Ohana. This is our last disney day. We will check out of the contemporary and head off site again for one night. We will be hitting the road early Saturday morning and we can't justify spending all that money for just for a bed.

Saturday 8/31-breakfast at chef mickey's. ADR is for 8:35. I'm going to keep trying for 9:15-9:45. Start the long drive home. If we drive all the way, we will once again stop somewhere overnight.

Sunday 9/1- arrive back home...tired, but with lots of happy memories!

We hope to visit both this trip. We were lucky to get in on the Premium AP for the cost of the DVC annual pass in December so we have unlimited water parks included. We visited BB on December 28. It was a little cool that day but the kids loved it!!! It gave them the chance to go on several things without a line. Our plan is to go to TL on our 2nds day and try BB later in the week.

We will be doing both waterparks. We are big "water people" (huge fans of Aquatica), so we're very excited to experience Disney's versions for the first time!! I am guessing BB will be the fave of my boys as they are huge slide lovers, and that TL will be my favourite as the tropical theme is right up my alley.

I want to their sand pail.....the one that's full of ice cream :hyper: . Diet be darned! :rotfl:

Thanks, and I will be crossing my fingers for you that your house rents!

Thank you! We appreciate it! Today DH said "I'd be willing to sacrifice the DxDP, but I want to keep the hotel with the gym." Priorities! I'd rather eat! :rotfl2: I am just going to plug away at work, at paying off debt and I'm going to go back to doing surveys and such and putting those aside for Disney. That's how I paid for most of our Dec trip as I wasn't working then so I think we can do it again! If we have to cancel some ADR's it's not the end of the world. If we have to move resorts, it's not the end of the world. I just hope we can still go! I'll just make it work! :)

No water fun parks for us. My mom isn't really into swimming. The kids don't know what they are missing so it's OK with me. They will have a blast at the pool.

I would stay at least one night at a Universal Resort. As previously mentioned, the benefit of the unlimited Express pass for resort guests on the day you check-in and the whole day you check out is very helpful. We are going over for one night during our upcoming Disney Trip.

Taking a cab over. We are checking in, probably leaving our bag at the bell station, in the morning and heading to the park with Express pass and tickets in hand. They will call to tell us when our room is ready. Then the next morning we r checking out and leaving our bag at the bell station again and heading our to the parks again for the day. We are then returning to Beach Club that night via Taxi after stopping by the resort to pick up our bag.

Thanks for the advice, we decided to stay at Royal Pacific for the last 3 days and have changed our AoA reservation to Aug 12-19th.

Are there any big events going on in the World on the week of the 11-16th?

Just curious...not that it'll deter me from my trip...hahahah.

Not that I'm aware of. We'll be there the 13th - 20th, and I haven't seen anything. It's certainly not empty in August, but we've found the crowds very manageable. Definitely not like spring break or Christmas week!

You know how I know you're a genius? We basically have the exact same plans (I'm just doing everything the day after haha) Sounds like a great trip! :thumbsup2

Anyone figure out how to make that time machine yet? We're set to get another 10 cm of snow over the next few days, and I'm dreaming of Florida!

On a happy note, DH is changing positions at work and has a bunch of offers from other companies on the table right now, and any of them should mean a very substantial raise, so that means more Disney trips in the future! :lmao:

How about a question of the day...........

For those that have been before, what is your hands-down favorite restaurant or favorite dish? For those that haven't, what ADR are you looking forward to the most?

Mine is a tie between Ohana and the filet with mushroom risotto at Le Cellier!

I don't remember a single thing we ate when I went in '07  but I am looking forward to seeing my DD experience CRT, and 'Ohana!

Easy one! Last May, DH and I took a long weekend trip for our anniversary (which I would recommend to everyone :thumbsup2). We ate at the California Grill, and it was the best meal I've ever had in my life. The waiter was phenomenal, food/wine was fabulous, and you just can't beat the location and view. :cloud9:

I agree the California Grill is special. The waiter was exceptional and introduced me to my now favorite wine (Craggy Range Sauvignon Blanc)
I just wish it was going to be open for this trip!
