3 Families doin' a Surf & Turf Trip! AKL CL & Dream...Good-Byes

I think I said it before but CC is AMAZING! :cloud9::cloud9::cloud9:

My fiancé and I both love cruises but we've never done a Disney cruise and I have him convinced that DCL is the way to go, probably a few more years when DD and future baby ;) are a bit older but I am so looking forward to it!

Awesome pics as always and I cannot wait for the parasailing pictures yay! :goodvibes

Gah! Ok, I'm caught up!!! Phew!

That ship looks so beautiful! I would love to hang out in Pink! ::yes::

Pirates Night looks adorabe! I would love to dress up!! :thumbsup2 I love how much the kids loved the club! That's so exciting, and awesome for you guys!!!

What a beautiful day! It's a great break from the downpours! :rolleyes2 Castaway Cay looks so beautiful! I would love to spend the day there! That water looks soooo much nicer than Lake Sunapee right now! :lmao: Brrrr!

There is one!

Nov 13, 2014 if that link doesn't work! I was trying to talk DH into this even though we haven't even been on our first cruise yet!:rotfl:

Nothing wrong with planning ahead!! And you are right!!! However, it won't work with school dates. And it would be perfect because I think it was a 4 night. That's what I really wanted....3 just isn't quite enough. Guess it's not gonna happen.

More please! I love CC!

There's another double dip on 10/20/13 leaving from Miami.

Coming up! :thumbsup2 Wish we could do that one, too! But Miami is too far for us to drive....like 9 1/2-10 hours. Port Canaveral is only like 4 hours...so that's fairly easy. Guess I'll continue to look :teeth:

This is a cruise I can live with Jen :thumbsup2

SO much $$$ :scared1:

Heather...parasailing pics..:thumbsup2

Pics coming up soon....I hope;) It's pouring down rain here, so I'll have plenty of time today. Kids are upstairs watching movies, and Bill and I are parked in front of the TV with our laptops  It's a sad sight...

I will be cruising for the first time in October so I just skimmed through your TR. Thanks for all the great links. I honestly can't wait to see Castaway Cay. It looks so amazing. Really enjoying all your pictures!

 Glad you stopped by. You won't be disappointed....promise. Hopefully you will have beautiful weather. It shouldn't be too hot during October. Get there early to enjoy the water before the masses of families (like mine ) converge upon the beach.

So I'm guessing congratulations are in order :goodvibes When are you due? You're smart to wait until the kids are older and can really enjoy it. And then you'll be able to take advantage of the Oceaneer's Club. :thumbsup2

:rotfl: Ok...yes! Your lake is frozen!! It's pouring down rain here....nasty! Nothing to do except :happytv: and :surfweb: Now that your mom is moving to FL, yall need to take a Disney cruise:thumbsup2 You have 3 ports to choose from....Miami and Fort Lauderdale and Canaveral!! I wonder if she can get any type of resident discount on cruises???

I am SO happy you got perfect weather for your beach day! I was a little worried based on the weather the previous days. The pictures are just beautiful! :beach:

Day 9
Parasailing at Castaway Cay
:beach:

On this most beautiful day at Castaway Cay, Pop and MaHopie embarked on adventure….something they had never done. Parasailing!! When we decided to take the family cruise, this was the first thing that MaHopie said she HAD to do. Thank heavens we didn’t book the parasailing for the first day at CC :upsidedow….wouldn’t have been pretty...(literally)

Just some basic info for those that are interested in giving this a try…

*1 hour (but you are only up in the air around 5-7 minutes)

*Adult Price: $79 (ages 10 and up)

*Child Price: $79 (ages 8 to 9)

*Ages: 8 And Up

*Minimum weight 90 lbs., maximum weight 375 lbs (and by the way…they do abide by this rule…they are super strict with the minimum and maximum weight limits) My parents saw the cast members having to enforce the rules.

*Children under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.

*Children aged 13-18 years participating unaccompanied must be escorted to Marge's Barges by an adult 18 years or older.

*Wheelchairs (collapsible or electric) are not permitted. Tour operators will deny participation to guests arriving in wheelchairs or electric scooters.

*All guests must have a paying ticket and no ride-along guests are permitted.

Make your way to Marges Barges, located just 100 yards from the ship's gangway – the starting point for the adventure.

After a short safety briefing, guests will be divided into groups and escorted to a waiting boat.

DSC00954_zps1596442e.jpg

Guests must stay on the boat for the duration of the time while other participants fly.

It’s finally mom and dad’s turn! :cool1:

….and a little higher!

Dad’s waterproof camera cover came in quite handy! :thumbsup2 However a GoPro camera would have been perfect. I'm thinking it's time we invest...:scratchin

DSC00979_zps442d50f5.jpg

Not sure what mom is pointing to??? :confused3

DSC00978_zps558f1f04.jpg

Soar like a bird at heights of 600-1000 feet!!!

DSC00977_zps4d55b89c.jpg

They said you could see for miles….

DSC00976_zps7e5f6796.jpg

I’m so regretting not doing this myself. I contemplated the idea for a while, then for some reason decided against it. Maybe next time!....no…not maybe. It’s a ‘must-do’!

DSC00971_zps9c2479c2.jpg

Time to come in….slowly down they go….

Then it was back to the dock…

Mom and dad could not say enough about parasailing! They thoroughly enjoyed this experience and said it was well worth every penny! :thumbsup2Just make your ressie early because there are limited spots. I remember checking to see if there were any available times (maybe a month before we left) and there were none. Pop said the crew members were awesome, too. Super, super nice!

Up next…..more Castaway Cay!

The parasailing looks amazing. I was signed up on my cruise in October but sadly they cancelled it due to wind. :( Oh well, guess I'll have to go back!

Jill in CO

love your TR so far! DH and I are contemplating a trip like this for my FIL (his bucketlist wish is a family cruise) and their 45th anniversary is in the next 2 years so hmmmmm...:scratchin

I'm so glad your parents got a chance to try parasailling - it always looks like so much fun. The views look incredible in the pictures, and I'm sure they were even better in person!

I've got to try parasailing one day!

Oh no, I misspoke lol!! I meant when Ava and her future sibling, who is not yet on the way, are older and able to enjoy the oceaneers club :rotfl::rotfl:
We are planning for baby number 2, AFTER our wedding lol! ;) but thank you for the kind words :goodvibes

I love, love the parasailing pictures, that must have been amazing! And I agree a must do :thumbsup2

LOVE the CC pics!!! :woohoo:

The parasailing looks horrifying to me. But I bet it is fun for those without the fear of heights. :thumbsup2

Your mom & dad are so full of life! I love it!!

The pictures are beautiful! I know Ed would like to do parasailing. May need to ask him if he wants me to book it for him. I have to book our excursions this coming Sunday! :scared:

What a fun Goofy you saw.
Fantastic early morning pics.
Glad to hear you had a good trip.
Great pics with Woody & Jessie.
What a fun Pirate dinner.
Gorgeous Castaway Cay pics.
The parasailing pics look like so much fun. A must when I go.
All caught up and look forward to reading more.

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted an update...life gets in the way  Hopefully I'll have something completed by tomorrow. The boys are going over to the coast to fish, so maybe I'll have plenty of free time today.

I am SO happy you got perfect weather for your beach day! I was a little worried based on the weather the previous days. The pictures are just beautiful! :beach:

It was REALLY perfect! I'm such a beach person, anyway....I just wish the sun wasn't so bad for ya. It's a very good thing we don't live on the water or my skin would look like leather, I'm sure. My kids love the ocean/lake/pool more than me. And unfortunately, Jesse has very fair skin...he takes after his Aunt Stephanie.

Hope yall are staying warm up there. Stephanie said school was cancelled yesterday in Glastonbury. Although she also said they actually could have gone in late....not too terrible.

Mom and dad were glad they didn't sign up for it on the first day at CC (cloudy and a little windy) If we do another cruise, I definitely want to try it! Time for you to book another cruise and go parasailing:thumbsup2

Glad they had a great time! :)

So...where are you now?!! I can't keep up with all your trips!! Cruising? At WDW??? ;)

love your TR so far! DH and I are contemplating a trip like this for my FIL (his bucketlist wish is a family cruise) and their 45th anniversary is in the next 2 years so hmmmmm...:scratchin

Well....as you have read, it was an awesome time for the entire family to be together. There's something for everyone, and something for all ages. I've looked at other cruise lines, but because our children range from 5 years to 11 years, Disney can't be beat. Not sure how many people will be traveling with you....but a cruise is so perfect because you can kind of do your own thing and still be with family, too (if that makes sense:upsidedow)

Happy Planning! I hope it works out for yall.

I'm so glad your parents got a chance to try parasailling - it always looks like so much fun. The views look incredible in the pictures, and I'm sure they were even better in person!

I've got to try parasailing one day!

Go for it! Faith wants to parasail, but I've tried to explain to her that you have to be a certain weight....she's got several years before she gets there. I can always count on her to be my daredevil and try it with me...the other 2 said no way!

Oh no, I misspoke lol!! I meant when Ava and her future sibling, who is not yet on the way, are older and able to enjoy the oceaneers club :rotfl::rotfl:

I love, love the parasailing pictures, that must have been amazing! And I agree a must do :thumbsup2

:dance3: for baby #2!!! Are you going to find out if it's a girl or boy?? Most people do, but we didn't....all 3 were a surprise. Jesse being the biggest surprise simply because he wasn't planned AT ALL!

LOVE the CC pics!!! :woohoo:

The parasailing looks horrifying to me. But I bet it is fun for those without the fear of heights. :thumbsup2

You sound like Stephen  He says NO WAY!!!

Your mom & dad are so full of life! I love it!!

The pictures are beautiful! I know Ed would like to do parasailing. May need to ask him if he wants me to book it for him. I have to book our excursions this coming Sunday! :scared:

They are very young at heart and do quite well keeping up with the kids. Guess doing things like parasailing keeps them going.

So....are you going to book parasailing??? Or did you? He would love it, and it would be a nice treat for him.

Wow! Great pics :thumbsup2 I am SO not that brave:blush:

I asked Bill if he would like to do it next time. His reply..."I would rather spend that money on fishing." I'm guessing he's a bit freightened ;) I've always wanted to skydive (tandem jump, of course) but he says NO!!!

I want to....I really really want to!!:hyper:

Like the Little Engine said..."I think I can, I think I can, I think I can!"

What a fun Goofy you saw.

Thanks! I know yall are looking forward to your trip. I'm in need of a major vacation myself:rolleyes:

Day 9
Castaway Cay….more pics!
:beach:

As I previously stated….the Castaway Cay posts are REALLY picture heavy. I couldn’t decide which pictures to cut, and which pictures to keep….sorry

Bill and I decided the night before that we wanted to traipse around the island sans kids. Fortunately our little ones LOVED the kid’s club, so it was no-brainer….first stop….

DSC_6833_zpsdf781b60.jpg

The club opens at 9ish; we did have to wait a few minutes because they were lacking a few cast members. No big deal, though.

DSC_6834_zps8c2b28de.jpg

This sign was cute…and since I had to wait, I read it. Love the way they worded bullet #3....in other words...if your kids can't behave, get em' out

DSC_6835_zpsed602e0a.jpg

I wish that I had made pics inside, but they are a little funny about that (which I’m happy about :thumbsup2) I couldn’t even sneak any pics….

DSC_6836_zps6df48b59.jpg

The inside of the kids area was really cool! The fun, sandy play area features Monstro Point, a "whale dig" site complete with jumbo-sized whale bones. Scuttle Cove closes down at 3:30 so the counselors can move from the island to the ship.

Now....what shall we do???? :confused3 Oh, I know…get more pics. Just what the hubby wants to do

Stephen was going to hang out at the teen club while we snorkeled and visited Serenity Bay.

DSC_6847_zps379b6a47.jpg

Of course I’ve already said this 100 times, but the day was too perfect!! When you venture over to CC, make sure you take the time to walk around and take in all the beauty of the island.

DSC_6848_zps7dff9586.jpg

DSC_6849_zps87dd3b05.jpg

DSC_6851_zps0495a482.jpg

There’s really too much to see in one day! If the weather had cooperated on the first CC day, I would not have been rushing around trying to see every square inch of the island.

DSC_6853_zpsf3d4843c.jpg

If you are interested in doing a 5K, this is it! They had quite a few enter the race.

DSC_6854_zpsaf6be66f.jpg

As you can see, it’s fairly early….very few people are here, yet.

DSC_6855_zpsa7e8ab09.jpg

Fun little water slide…but lots of work to actually get there. We didn’t do it at all on our second day at CC.

DSC_6856_zps86e6a2c7.jpg

DSC_6857_zps9efe67c3.jpg

Bill and I made sure we had our lounge chairs reserved and snorkel equipment retrieved. One last pic before we hit the water! And by the way…if you plan to snorkel, get there early before the water gets stirred up. ::yes::

ff0b64cf-6998-4b79-99d0-90ea41b99186_zps2f0edd04.jpg

Up next ….Serenity Bay!

Oh My Heather, you have me wishing for one than one day at CC too! It just looks like there is so much to see and do, or not if you just want to relax. I love that the kids club is on the island too, how convenient! :goodvibes

Great pictures!

Now I really wish I could go back. I have my next three trips planned but don't know what to do first, BLT, cruise, Disneyland. And I am not even sure if we can go for a while...so now I am even sadder. :(
With your pics and remembering our trip it may have to be the cruise. Lol

Yay, more pics :cheer2:

I am so glad it's almost Spring...which mean summer is almost here :beach: Your pics are keeping me warm Heather!! :flower3:
