Where's the deed?

I closed on BW July 9th and today received the long awaited letter from Disney with my member number. When I brought direct from Disney I got a deed. Is it normal on resales to NOT get a deed?

According to my broker person, when you buy a resale you get the deed 2 months after closing.

If your deed is for a DVC resort at Walt Disney World, you might find an electronic copy on the Orange County Comptroller's website.

To locate a warranty deed on the OCC website, go to the OCC Document Search screen at https://officialrecords.occompt.com/recorder/eagleweb/docSearch.jsp

1. Uncheck box to Search Specific document types
2. Choose 'deed'
3. In the Grantor box, enter the seller's name in Last Name, First Name format
4. In the Grantee box, enter your name in Last Name, First Name format.
5. Click the Search button to start the search

Note: Sometimes the searches work better if you enter only the surnames for the Grantor and Grantee.

If the names are common, the search may return a large number of records. To reduce the size of the matches, enter a range of dates in the Recording Date Start and End fields.

The OCC website will return records that meet your search criteria. If you want to view a record, click on the 'Add to My Images' entry that appears to the right of each record. You can click on more than one record, or all records, if you wish.

The records you select to view will appear in the left hand margin under 'My Images.' Below this list will be a link labeled 'Download My Images.' When you click on this link, the system will prepare a PDF file that can be viewed and downloaded.

Note: EDITED link for Orange County Comptroller's website

The DVC Resource Center at the top of each DVC dicsussion forum has a wealth of information, including the link to the Orange County, FL Comptrollers Office.

Sometimes, the links in old threads, while accurate at that time, are outdated now as in this case. We try to keep the Resource Center updated with current info as much as possible.

I updated the link for the Orange County Comptroller's website in my post above. As Webmaster Doc points out, links are sometimes updated or revised over time.

By the way, Indian River County, which services Vero Beach, updated its website a few months ago. Here is the updated link for Indian River: http://ori.indian-river.org/Home/index.
