Children, characters and awkward questions! What do you say....

I'm wondering if anyone's kids have ever asked this and what you have said if they have.....

"Why does Rapunzel/Snow White/whoever look a bit different from the last time we seen her"??

I think this might come up during this trip since the kids have watched & studied our DVDs of our trip/photos so much that they will know if it is different "friend" who they see :rotfl:

I don't want to be caught out!!

Thanks

Clare

Ours are 9 and 10 and never noticed through the years they only see the costume and they really do believe they are the real deal :-)

On my DDs first trip to DLP when she was 4, she loudly proclaimed in the middle of Cafe Mickey that she knew he wasn't real... As she could see the persons neck (you really could!!). I had to think fast and told her that it was just a shaved bit of skin where he'd had to have an injection!

Since then, she's never doubted the authenticity of the characters!

Well done, that's really thinking on your feet! :rotfl2:

That's brilliant!!

I think ds knows the score re costumed characters, I think dd (4) doesnt! It's the "face" characters I'm lost for an explanation about, they have scrutinised film & photos so much I'm sure they'll notice if they are different from last time!

My sons asked why characters don't talk. I told them it was because they don't know all the languages of the world, so they talk something everybody understands - signs

Could you not just say something like

"Well you look different as well now you are a year older"

For the princesses I always say they must have done their make-up or hair a bit differently today ;)

I find the questions about the non-face characters more difficult, e.g. why Pluto walks on all fours on telly but doesn't at DLP :rotfl: He is DD1's favourite but she's 7 now so I'm sure she'll really suss if/when we next go back.

Thanks for your brilliant answers :goodvibes I think the kids would definitely believe the year older & different make up/hair, will be using them should it come up, thanks.

What a brilliant answer. My brother asked this on our trip and we didn't know how to answer... good suggestion.

When we was there 2 weeks ago my 7 year old told me some of the characters had zips and velcro down their back and said it was because they weren't real and just people dressed up. It was't until this point I noticed how obvious it was for some of the characters.
