DAY 3: The morning after

we had such a busy day prior as we were celebrating emme's third birthday. but before i begin my update, here are 3 videos from her birthday dinner @ enchanted garden.

i was running out of space (well, i literally had no space) so the videos are a couple of seconds each. but, our head server, assistant server, manager & a what seemed to be a football team of people brought emme cupcakes & sang her happy birthday. it was very sweet!

please click the image & the video opens on a separate web page:

when emme awoke, her hair still looked almost perfect & in tact from her BBB makeover from the night before. i was shocked! i wanted to head to the BBB to see if they could give emme a touch up on the pixie dust.

after our light breakfast from the concierge lounge & eaten on our balcony, we were off for a touch up at the BBB & then see the characters before we attended the orientation at the kids club.

IMG_6829-2_zpseeca8979.jpg

IMG_6833-2_zps1f9d04ee.jpg

claudia, who was our fairy godmother in training from our appointment the day before was working this morning & she happily touched up emme's hair & sprinkled some pixie dust! it was a great start to a great day.

we were off to the lobby atrium for some pictures but not before stopping at an interactive picture. there were many of these pictures on the ship.

IMG_6834-2_zps117a9723.jpg

we made it to the lobby for some character sightings.

up first, STITCH!

IMG_6814-2_zpsbaf93889.jpg

IMG_6817-2_zps00f54d67.jpg

and lastly, PLUTO (i was beginning to grow weary of the characters at this point...ok, ok, i admit, i was a bit grumpy & tired).

KIDS CLUB!

IMG_7490-2_zps282ccdfd.jpg

the kids club is an absolute blessing for parents while on board the cruise. not only does the club provide hours upon hours of supervised, interactive & fun place for your kids, it gave me guilt free time for myself.

in order for your child to attend the kids club, your child has to be 3 & fully potty trained. every child attending the kids club must wear a mickey band. the band can be on your wrist or ankle. each time you drop your child off, the child scans their band which essentially checks them in. the mickey band also has a gps tracker so when you pick up your child, the CM can locate your child quickly. also, when your child is ready to be picked up, a CM will call you on your wave phone so parents, keep those wave phones handy!

IMG_7486-2_zpsf199ee3a.jpg

emme scanning herself in later in the week!

after you enter the kids club, you must wash your hands in these high tech sinks. all you have to do is stick your hands inside inside of a covered sink which can be described as a "car wash" for your hands. your hands are washed for 20 seconds & then you dry them on paper towels. I LOVED THIS CONCEPT! i am fanatical about clean hands.

IMG_7487-2_zps0b238bee.jpg

emme washing her hands.

IMG_7488-2_zps5a74ac32.jpg

so back to our orientation....

the first thing i noticed was how clean the space was. also, all the CM's were very friendly, very interactive & genuinely happy to be with the children. there's so much to do inside of this place. it was HUGE! another bonus is that the children are served lunch and dinner while at the kids club. SCORE! we dropped emme off at the club before we headed to palo for brunch.

look who joined the kids.

IMG_6837-2_zps5716e8e4.jpg

IMG_6839-2_zps9f3d611e.jpg

MINNIE MOUSE!

during the orientation, only the oceaneer club was open. orientation is the only time you are allowed to take pictures of the space. i attempted to take a picture of emme a few days later and a CM immediately stopped me. i thought she was going to tackle me as she ran up so quickly to me!

IMG_6845-2_zps95d8d82b.jpg

IMG_6844-2_zpsee6d6261.jpg

IMG_6842-2_zpsbd0fa467.jpg

andy's room was one of emme's favorite places to be. this was like all star movies resort shrunk for the kids. i loved it! it was a fantastic place.

...then we went to explore

IMG_6846-2_zpsd781ce10.jpg

i felt very at ease during the orientation & emme was having an absolute blast. there were times when she did not want to leave. another plus about the kids club that for diners who have second seating like us, at 9:15, the CM's will come to the dining rooms to pick up your children & take them back to the kids club so that you can enjoy your meal. how awesome is that?!

the oceaneer club & lab is for ages 3-11 (i think). there is SO MUCH to do to keep your kids busy. from playing dress up, computer games, video games, movies, arts & crafts, dancing & being silly.

everytime i dropped emme off or picked her up, i was greeted with a smile, no matter what time of the day this was. emme called the kids club her "new school" & she woke up every day wanting to see her "new teachers" & "new friends". she loved this place & still talks about her new school to me.

i dropped emme off & spent a few hours on the boat by myself. what an absolute treat! when i went to pick emme back up, they let me know where she was but i couldn't find her. i searched all areas & was in slight panic. i finally found her (in the area they said she was) but she was in a costume! *phew*

IMG_6870-2_zps0fea39d6.jpg

i can't say enough nice things about the kids club. thank you disney for providing such an awesome space for my kid & giving me peace of mind.

up next, how i spent my EMME-FREE TIME & NEMO'S REEF!

What an awesome trip so far. I'll be heading back onto the fantasy in Sept 2014 for me and my DFi's 2 year engagement (we actually got engaged on the fantasy at the grand staircase). We decided to book concierge this time and from the looks of it, i'm glad we did. Cant wait to read more!

P.S. I forgot to mention that your pictures are absolutely fantastic!

Thank you for the kind comments!

Many blessings on your engagement! That's so special & fantastic to have happened on the grand staircase. Very romantic & sweet.

Our experience with concierge was fabulous! I cannot say enough about the entire team (shore & boat). It's definitely worth the extra money.

That Kids Club is awesome! What a good thing to have. That would be fun to work in there.

Emme looks so happy in that picture with Mike Wazowski!

It was indeed awesome! Wish there was an oceaneer club nearby. ;)

NEMO'S REEF!!

we headed to deck 11 for some fun in the sun. it was very windy on this day but the water looked too nice to pass up.

DSC00006-2_zps5dae9e21.jpg

emme's ready for the pool deck!

we made our way down to the mickey pool. the mickey pool is perfect for children as it is one depth. the kids go buck wild in this pool. they show absolutely no mercy. it's hard not to get splashed every which way while in the pool. it was fun for a few minutes but even emme grew tired of it, quickly. also, there are NO swim diapers allowed (hallelujah!) in any of the pools on deck 11.

DSC00087-2_zps948239a8.jpg

deck 11.

DSC00086-2_zpseb31b27f.jpg

mickey pool got cleaned every day (which was awesome).

my mom found a nice chair to sit at while emme & i played around in the water. there are plenty of towels in this area. the towels are replenished all the time. after use, the use towels are placed in the used bin (looked like a trash bin but for towels).

DSC00011-2_zpsac205a56.jpg

grandma & emme.

DSC00021-2_zps3efa3ad4.jpg

emme in the mickey pool.

after the mickey pool, emme & i made our way into the "hot tub" on deck 11. it was pretty surreal to be in the hot tub and look out the window & see the ocean. the hot tub was always busy but with it being so windy, it was nice to be in some warm water. it took me a few minutes to prepare myself for the hot tub (i'm not a germaphobe but if you think about it, it's kind of gross). but like i said, once i got over it, it was quite nice.

emme decided she wanted to check out nemo's reef.

DSC00061-2_zps2c0fef8b.jpg

DSC00066-2_zpsdf96363a.jpg

the water was not cold in the reef!

DSC00058-2_zps1e453e03.jpg

there were so many things to do an play with! emme was having a fantastic time exploring. there is no lifeguard on duty here.

DSC00067-2_zpsaa7a9139.jpg

DSC00084-2_zps705e0023.jpg

and look who i saw:

DSC00096-2_zps811cdc06.jpg

lil duuuuuuuude!

DSC00100-2_zps11be0f93.jpg

DSC00098-2_zps5add4346.jpg

oh hello there nemo!

DSC00108-2_zps835b1de1.jpg

and the very fun slide for the kids.

DSC00206-2_zps29c8f554.jpg

DSC00104-2_zpsdee2ae47.jpg

more fun for emme.

DSC00205-2_zps1a8fd248.jpg

overall, nemo's reef is a great place for kids. the floor can get a bit slippery so emme wore crocs most of the time. it was never really crowded and a great space for the kids to get away and be kids. emme loved it there.

after nemo's reef, since emme was 1 inch too short for the aquaduck, she rode the mickey slide.

DSC00240-2_zpsc64fc006.jpg

mickey slide!!

DSC00186-2_zpsc3de9448.jpg

up, up, up she goes.

DSC00187-2_zps83999b88.jpg

DSC00189-2_zps7075f0cd.jpg

...and then she slides down backwards. ha ha.

up next, snacks & dinner @ royal court!

Love your colorful photos in Nemo's Reef. Emme is such a sweetie and she sure is enjoying the reef! Thanks for posting! We leave for the Fantasy in twelve days, and I managed to reserve a cabana just a couple of days ago! I will continue to enjoy your trip report right up till I board my plane for Orlando.:)

Congrats on the cabana! I probably won't get to my cabana review before you leave but you will really enjoy it!

You get a free bike rental (emme & I went on a long bike ride), free access to sand toys, floats & tubes...golf cart ride to your cabana & so much more. I looooooved laying in my hammock with a corona and just relaxing. The water is so clear & beautiful. We were in cabana 10.

It was a total treat. Your family will love it. :)

And thank you again for the kind comments. I shot those with my small waterproof camera.

updated 2/27/13

before i begin my update with dinner at royal court, here are some pictures i took during some emme-free time while she was at the kids club.

i watched "the avengers" in 3D at the buena vista theater. the movies playing on board was "the avengers", "wreck it ralph" & "lincoln". i also saw "wreck it ralph" in 3D!

you are able to purchase alcohol, popcorn & candy outside of the theater. the concierge staff gave me popcorn so i munched on my popcorn and drank my half spilled stella during the movie.

IMG_6862_zps1f685219.jpg

my spilled stella. so tragic.

IMG_6863_zps0f8d840d.jpg

the beautiful light!

IMG_6865_zpsbc44f98d.jpg

the theater was really amazing!

IMG_6867_zps9aa1a105.jpg

the very cool 3D glasses.

IMG_6868_zps768bb6ae.jpg

the nice sized screen.

the movie was awesome watching in 3D. it was really enjoyable to be able to watch a movie without emme. i loved every minute of it.

after the movie, i walked around the ship & went to the lounges. unfortunately, i never went to a single bar while on board the ship. i guess i have another reason to book another cruise! :rotfl:

IMG_6855_zps6cef4b32.jpg

and here is the pub:

while walking to pick up emme from the kids club, look who i saw:

IMG_6861_zpsfd1f9ae2.jpg

IMG_6856_zpsa89c89b8.jpg

finally....DINNER!

ROYAL COURT

IMG_6858_zps9f0692c5.jpg

after a long day which included lots of time in the pool, i was pretty tired & spent. emme had a long nap and was ready to go. because i was so tired, i decided to take my point & shoot to dinner. i didn't have the energy to drag my dslr camera, so my point & shoot camera had the job of taking pictures tonight.

but first, we ran into some friends:

DSC00141-2_zpscdbb8aba.jpg

phineas & ferb!

DSC00145-2_zps832d8d7f.jpg

table 74 was again, very close to the entrance which gave us quick accessibility to the very important potty. i was pretty hungry & was excited for dinner.

DSC00143-2_zps3da9eeda.jpg

emme getting her coloring on.

DSC00146-2_zps7ffdd823.jpg

Warm Herb Brioche with an Olive Spread

the brioche bread was good & the olive spread was tasty.

here are the appetizers:

DSC00149-2_zps66e07830.jpg

Escargots Gratinés-Herb-marinated Snails with finely chopped Mushrooms, topped with Garlic Butter and Breadstick

i love love love me some escargots. these snails were delicious. i wish they were more garlicky...the more garlic, the better. we ordered a second one of these. i really enjoyed these very much.

DSC00154-2_zpse246d45a.jpg

i also ordered Iced Lobster and Jumbo Shrimp White and Green Asparagus, Micro Greens, and Lemon-Dill dressing with Horseradish Cream but the picture was very blurry. the shrimp was ok. nothing special about it.

next...

DSC00152-2_zpsc57b9d05.jpg

Belle's French Onion Soup With Gruyère Cheese Crouton

has anyone had the french onion soup at "be our guest" at walt disney world? the french onion soup served there is a travesty. it's pretty terrible. i was hopeful that this french onion soup would be good.

this french soup was equally terrible. the cheese wasn't bubbly or ooey & gooey. the crouton was super soggy & the broth was very bland. it was very disappointing.

here is emme's dinner:

DSC00150-2_zpsf0f12c61.jpg

the chicken was a little dry & the gravy saved it. emme ate only the mashed potatoes & got seconds. mr. o'neil also brought her some jasmine rice. he was very awesome.

our entrees:

DSC00155-2_zps31379239.jpg

Pan seared Tofu, Roasted Zucchini, Eggplant and Red Peppers (Vegetarian)

this was a very good entree. they used sesame oil to sear the tofu & it really reminded me of how we make tofu at my house. at this point, i really missed korean food. my mom enjoyed this entree. it was very tasty.

DSC00158-2_zps251d0977.jpg

Double Cut Rack of Lamb with a Dijon Crust
With fine Green Beans, Gratin Potatoes and Rosemary Jus

after the disappointing french onion soup, i was pretty hesitant about my lamb. the lamb was cooked beautifully but the meat was a bit tough. the rosemary jus was rich & delicious & really added a great depth of flavor to the lamb. the gratin potatoes were dry but the green beans were fresh & crunchy.

overall, this was the second best meal out of the 3 we've had at rotational dining. i still don't understand the french onion soup & why disney's french onion soup is so terrible. the tofu was delicious as were the escargots.

the restaurant itself is really beautiful. i have additional pictures i took with my dslr during our second visit to royal court & will be posting later in this trip report.

after dinner, we went straight to bed as we had an 8:15am excursion in beautiful st. john.

up next, HELLO VIRGIN ISLANDS!!!

Yet more wonderful pictures
