PLEASE! Whistle while you work …… Update Day 6 - 06/16

Karin, must admit "Hot Now" sign never entered my mind :sad2: even though it should have immediately! Likely because I am not a big fan of Krispy Kreme - having been raised on Chicago Sweet Rolls and Long Johns (talk about yummy!!!), then Boston Dunkin' Donuts, KK has never quite made the grade. I do enjoy one or two when pipping hot though!! Yummy!!

Isn't funny even after being up for 23 hours the MK still is a must visit! The sight of it makes even a tired heart perk up. Especially when being so close at BLT!

Very happy Disney decided to correct the 'what were they thinking' and add a sink to the studio bathrooms. I wish BLT was not quite so many points or I would definitely rent for my visit with Sophia. It would be perfect - even if it doesn't have a water launch to MK! ;) I am thrilled to enjoy BLT through your visits! :goodvibes

Good thing I bought Krispy Kremes today. not the same as ours come from the grocery store as we don't have them locally, but they are still darn good. I don't have to lick the screen today now.

What a great way to start your Disney time. Love BLT! But man, what a long day for you. Hope you get some much deserved rest when you get back from MK.

Wow, traveling for business and 2 updates late! That lady on the plane was so rude! I almost had my dinner in my lap coming back from Barcelona...the guy in front of me was finished so he just abruptly reclined his seat all the way. Ugh!

Mmmmm, Krispy Kremes. I haven't had any for ages!

I can't believe that you made it to the MK after traveling all day! You guys are troopers.

Great Update !!! Glad to hear car rental doesn't take long !!I am super nervous about Judy'd plans to go to Seaworld the day we leave !! But they all are so excited to go I have to take a tranquillizer to calm me that day:rotfl2::rotfl2: Thank goodness we have assigned seats !!!

I love your room! Very tasteful.

How did you like the new aspects to the KTTWC? I found it to work only part of the time. Not that when it didn't it was much of a headache...but I think it still has some bugs to be worked out.

Food looks good. I think I would have probably ended up just enjoying the room, view and food. :worship: to you for going out to MK after such a long day AND in the freezing cold!!!

I had the feeling you were talking about Krispy Kreme.

Wow, that's a long day for you, I don't know how you went to MK that night, but of course you had to take advantage of that walk from BLT. I would probably ride the People Mover and take a nap.

Oh, how nice of you to say that, Jeanette!
Well, if you want to see the calories - they are still on my hips. :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

Karin WOW MK after nearly 24 hours of travel :worship: My heroine!!!

The steakhouse salad looked yummy! Yes, I am still on a diet ;)

Crispy Cremes are pretty awesome, aren't they?

That flat bread looks amazing. It's not quite lunch time here, but my stomach is begging to differ after seeing that pic.

I like the way they remodeled the studios at BLT. I really need to stay there with Denny one of these days. There are two DVC resorts he hasn't tried yet - BLT and BCV. He probably doesn't care, but I would like him to try them all. For strictly selfish reasons, of course. :rotfl:

Totally off topic but, how long is your school day? You mentioned getting off work early in one of your posts, 12.30. What time does the school day start?

Kate

Wow Karin, that's a really long day!

I don't know if I would have had the energy to go to MK but it would be lovely to just stroll over from your room :goodvibes

The rooms at BLT really do look nice :thumbsup2

Oh by the way, you asked about Virgin Atlantic/BA food - I haven't flown BA for years now. We always fly VA and the food is just "meh" at best, but that is probably true of most airline's food. One thing that never changes with food on VA is that you could easily use the bread rolls as hockey pucks :rotfl:

You are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO lucky that we are going to Krispy Kreme on Sunday morning for breakfast before we head out to the outlet mall. :lmao::lmao::lmao: I can just taste them now.

Your food from the Contempo Cafe looks good; we've not eaten there in years (well, except for a holiday cupcake in December).

Great update! Poor Tom! He deserved those doughnuts atfer that crazy lady. The rudeness of of people. :( Can't wait to read more.

:thumbsup2 Yes, he really deserved some doughnuts after that "run in" with the crazy lady. :rotfl2:

Christine, how could you forget about the "Hot Now" sign. :rotfl2: You know, we used to buy Dunkin - tried all different doughnuts, but since we fell for KK, it's glazed doughnuts and nothing else. We usually check on Tom's phone (app) if the hot now is on and then head over to get some. We just LOVE to have them hot - yummiest thing ever. ;)

We just couldn't give up the chance of heading over to the MK, now that it was just a few steps away, but it was COLD that night. :lmao:

Tom and I just love BLT. Everything looks really great and it has such a "home" feel to it.
And who needs a water launch when you can just walk there in a few minutes. ;) No lines, just a short stroll. :goodvibes

Good thing I bought Krispy Kremes today. not the same as ours come from the grocery store as we don't have them locally, but they are still darn good. I don't have to lick the screen today now.

You know, Jen, I could go for some KK right now. ;) :lmao: Maybe I should try liking the screen for a change. :rotfl2:

Hope Claire is feeling better.

What a great way to start your Disney time. Love BLT! But man, what a long day for you. Hope you get some much deserved rest when you get back from MK.

It WAS a long day, thankfully we caught up on sleep a little during the flight. ;) We played at the MK for a while and then fell into bed and we slept WELL!!! :lmao:

That's what I hate most ... people putting their seats back while others are eating? There isn't enough space between the seats when the backs are upright - let alone someone pushes his backrest back. :sad2:

Well, we HAD to march over to the MK - I had changed resorts, just so we could, it would have been "akward" to stay next to MK and NOT walk over. But boy, I did not feel like it. :rotfl2:

Car rental and return is an easy thing, Rosie. Don't worry about it. :thumbsup2

We enjoy staying there so much. And even with the little time we have at WDW in February, we just want to hang out there too.
We didn't use the KTTWC much Ann. We both have "paper" APs, so did not use them to enter the parks and I paid with gift cards. :lmao: Maybe in August we will get more of a chance. :goodvibes

Ah, you all know us and our addiction to KK too well. ;)

We really thought about staying in, but decided, that since we had changed from Pop to BLT we "needed" to get ourselves to the MK that night ..... and you are so right with riding the PM .... while going through SM I think I took 40 winks. :rotfl2:

Karin WOW MK after nearly 24 hours of travel :worship: My heroine!!!

The steakhouse salad looked yummy! Yes, I am still on a diet ;)

We had a few hours of sleep on the plane. ;) And in the end for our "inner clocks" it was already time to get up again. :lmao:

The salad was SO good, we lateron in the trip had exactly the same meal again as we loved it so much. :goodvibes

I still can't believe how long it took us to "discover" Krispy Kremes! ;) And it was thanks to a DISer that we did. :thumbsup2

We found that the Contempo Cafe had quite a few yummy things, but that salad and the flatbread are just amazing. :thumbsup2
Tom and I love BLT, so if you haven't stayed there yet, please give it a try. We are going to stay at BCV for the first time this summer and I am really looking forward to it. Can't wait to get back to Stormalong Bay. :thumbsup2

Just keeping up and waiting for the next update !!!

I am working on it, Rosie! :goodvibes

Totally off topic but, how long is your school day? You mentioned getting off work early in one of your posts, 12.30. What time does the school day start?

Kate

I think our school days are different to yours. We only have to be at school for the lessons we give, otherwise we stay home. We have a 21 hour week and every teacher has his/her individual timetable. I was lucky this year, as I have every other Tuesday off completely. :cloud9: School for the kids starts at 8am and ends differently every day. The latest they have to stay is 4.30, but only if they take up extra lessons.
When I said 12.30pm it was early as usually on Friday I get off at 1am. ;)

It was quite a long day, but sleeping on the plane helped a lot! :thumbsup2

We LOVE BLT! It looks so much like a home, not a hotel room if you know what I mean. We had a pool view this time, but just walking out and seeing the MK in all its glory while waiting for the elevator was just awesome.

Rolls on VA sound like the ones we get on the way home. Icy cold and hard as rocks.. :rotfl2:
They do produce good ones on the way TO the US, but home yuck!!!

Have some for me too! ;) Lucky girl.

We just love Contempo. Not your usual burger and fries fare and the flatbread and salad were delicous. :thumbsup2

Half term vacation 2013, Feb 16 - Feb 24

Day 1, February 16

It's freezing here! - part 4

So we both put on our jackets and headed downstairs and started our way over to the Magic Kingdom. And we realized it was freezing outside. It was really cold, Tom had left his camera in the room and was happy about it, so we both could put our hands in our pockets. I had my small camera with me, just in case we should encounter something special. We arrived at the entrance and sped up a bit to make it to the bag check before the next ferry was to arrive. We quickly made it through the turnstiles and were greeted by the true love banners

IMG_7554_zps4587ad45.jpg

which were still on that day and some very familiar music. So we quickly made our way under the railway station and were lucky enough to catch the second showing of the Main Street Electrical Parade in a none crowded premium viewing spot.

We had spent about three weeks at Disney in the summer and never seen it, so that was a wonderful surprise and perfect start to our vacation. I took a few pictures of it, but since I only had my point and shoot I stopped after a few to enjoy the parade. Once it was over we slowly strolled through the shops l had a look at new merchandise. It was really nice to get inside for a while to warm up again. Once we had made it to the hub and we had taken the usual castle photo

IMG_7562_zpsd313c136.jpg

we decided to head towards Tomorrowland. There is one ride that we always love to ride and it is the People Mover.

IMG_7564_zps63bd1185.jpg

You can sit and peoplewatch. Only thing we did not think about – it’s outside and it was windy and cold. But fun nonetheless. Once we got off we headed right inside the next store to warm up again a bit. We really wanted to see the new Storybook Circus area, so this is where we headed next. It was too dark to take photos with my camera, but we took a good look around and at that time even Dumbo was a walk on. But since we were cold already, we gave it a miss and headed to the Big Tent. There were lots of things to check out and it was WARM in there. We took our sweet time looking around before we set out to walk over to the New Fantasyland.

IMG_7567_zpsefb82d73.jpg

People were walking through the Little Mermaid Fastpass line and we first gave the ride a miss thinking that it would be a long wait. But stop, it was only supposed to be a 20 minute wait. We can do that. The cast member at the standby entrance showed us the way and we started walking through the line. Another bend, this is where the line must start, no, no one in sight.

IMG_7568_zpscc46a2d4.jpg

IMG_7570_zps16bdfb86.jpg

Well, in the end we were only “waiting” in line for about 2 minutes, the ride being a virtual walk on. The ride itself was cute and since it was new to us there was lots to see. By then it was past midnight and the time change had started to really get to us. So we strolled over to Gaston’s tavern, had a look around and strolled through the little gift shop. Then we walked over to the Haunted Mansion, but that had a 10 minute wait and people were lining up outside, so we decided to call it a day and head back to our resort. We slowly made our way down Main Street, exited the park and decided to take another ride, on the Monorail.

IMG_7571_zps87524262.jpg

The Contemporary is the first stop of the resort one and it was just coming in, so why not. Once we were back in our room we had a quick drink, then watched a little TV to wind down and very soon had to turn it off as we fell asleep.

To be continued ...........

So happy you saw The Main Street Electrical Parade!! I can hardly wait for Sophia to see it this summer! Waaay back when we first saw it (1981) I was not a fan at all, but then it was gone and I missed it...funny how that works. ;) It will be special to watch it with Sophia - and one day hope to watch with Mia and Sophia...that will be very special. Maybe we will even see the The Electrical Water Pageant in August. :)

People Mover is a must do (several times!) every visit. I've been on it when it is cold and windy...brrr! Still fun though!

Glad you had a nice first evening, Karin.:goodvibes

Thats one long busy day!!! But that is awesome you got on the Mermaid ride as practically walk on. Thats how it was for use too and we loved it, but I could never wait in those long lines I have heard reported.
