So I just saw this posted "If you need to keep medicine cold, you should contact Disney Cruise Line. They will send you a medical form and you will need to have it signed by your physician. The completed and signed form will need to be faxed to Disney Cruise Line before you cruise."

So, do you need to send DCL a form to bring any prescription medicine onboard?

When you do the online check-in there is a form you can download. We fax the form in as we need a sharps container. A physician's signature is not required. There is no place for them to sign on the form. You do not have to let them know you are bringing medication.

Guests should carry a full supply of all necessary medications and medical supplies with them during travel. Guests should keep medications or medical supplies in original containers with their carry-on bag, and not in luggage being checked. Some staterooms are equipped with a cooler box. Please do not use the cooler to store medications that have specific temperature requirements. If you need to store medicines that require proper refrigeration, please visit Guest Services for 24-hour access to refrigeration.

Are you going on the Wonder/Magic or Dream/Fantasy? The Wonder and Magic do not have refrigerators, therefore, they must be requested for medical use. Then you need to complete the form. The Dream and Fantasy have actual refrigerators so you should be okay.

You do not need a medical form just to bring prescription medications onboard. The form is to inform DCL of any medical needs that they might need to address, such as allergies, or proof of a need for a handicapped room. My DD has type 1 diabetes, but we did not submit a medical form because there was nothing specifically that DCL needed to be aware of or provide for us.

I just recommend that you travel with it in the original packaging, or at the very least bring a copy of the prescription label. You'll be fine.

If your drugs look like those, you might need to prove that you have a script for what you have in order to re-enter the U.S., so it's good practice to have that proof, though it's not technically required. I have Late Stage Lyme Disease AND a condition known as Barrett's Esophagus.
I carry a TON of meds and have for over 10 years.
The liquid ERythromycin ( 1600 MGS daily), has to be kept cold and I sometimes had to keep the bottle in a cup of ice,,but when it's a real fridge in the room,that keeps the meds cold enough.
I've never filled out any forms or alerted anyone ahead of time that I had meds.
Due to memory issues,I find it easier to keep the meds in their original containers, rather than use those daily plastic compartment holders. Plus, having the original containers takes care of any meds related questions or issues that could arise.
DH & I are boarding the Fantasy in the morning and I have my usual " traveling pharmacy" with me. I'm not expecting any issues meds related

I'm a lawyer. Please enlighten me about the law There used to be a FL law to this effect in the 80s, it was overturned by the courts.

This is not correct. There is no requirement that drugs be in their original containers. If there is any question that the drugs might be illegal in the U.S. or controlled substances, you may need to prove what they are and that you have a script.

To answer this question....NO....you don't need any kind of note, nor do you need to let them know if you're bringing ANY meds onboard. Unless you use medical marijuana. I have no idea how THAT would work.

This is exactly what I have always understood. If you're going to a foreign country, you need to have your own prescription to prove that you didn't buy the drugs illegally to bring back to the USA.

So whether it's a LAW or not, it's always a good idea to have your meds in their own bottle from the pharmacy.
Not to mention, if for any reason you needed to go to a hospital while on your trip, or if your trip were seriously delayed, it's a lot easier to have this info with you.

My pharmacy provides a print out, identifying the medication (as well as an image), my name and the doctor, etc. Actually, the printout provides more information, than the original bottle. I've never been asked for any verification, but have it available, if needed.

I always bring MORE than I expect to need, and I divide it between my carry on and checked luggage. And my insurance will let me refill my inhaler early in order to have extras for vacations.

Having a written prescription handy is invaluable should you become separated from your medication while traveling. But I have never been asked for a prescription even when traveling internationally.

Right. It's not a 'law', but USCB operates by it's own sets of rules and their search and seizures are not bound by the same Fourth Amendment rights afforded to other domestic searches and seizures. So, for all, intents and purposes they are above the law.

My stance on dealing with USCB: do not give them any reason to detain you. ::thumbsup It is a battle that is rarely won. If they say to have it in the original bottle, have the script/note etc. DO IT. It's not hard. It will save you grief.
