Families of 5 who have stayed at por?

Over the years we have stayed at Value, Deluxe, DVC, offsite, but never a moderate. I would really like to stay at POR, but with 5 of us, will it be too crowded?

It is dh and myself, and my 3 sons, 9-12-15. The 15 year old is basically an adult size young man, the 12 year old is on the smaller side, and the 9 year old is pretty average size.

I know we spend little time in room, sleeping, showering, maybe a little t.v. watching before bed, so we wouldn't be in the room that long.

What do you think? I would really like answers from families who have stayed at POR!

We've done it a couple of times. My kids are 8, 9 and 12. It's fine for us. But I have seen other people say they were cramped.

We just stayed there last March, and we are going back next month. Our kids are 15, 10 and 5. We spend very little time in the room, and bring A LOT of stuff- we drive so pack everything but the kitchen sink. So that being said, we seem to have plenty of room for what we need the room for. The 5 YO sleeps on the murphy bed, and older kids in the other queen bed.

The day bed is small for that age child. We stayed w/three under age of 5 and it was so close quarters that my hsband refuses to go back and happily caughs up the money for family suites.

The first time I investigated accommodations for a party of 5 (including my mom), the WDW reservations clerk on the phone told me quite flatly that even though she could book places like POR or even GF for five, she personally wouldn't recommend it.

I'm sure they would prefer that all parties of 5 booked two rooms instead of one.

The last time we went my son was 10 and slept in the murphy bed just fine.

I like my space, and I would feel cramped. We stayed 1 night there last week. We had DS2 in a p&p in the bathroom area. We slept with our other 2 kids. Fine for 1 night, just wouldn't love doing it for a week. My DD loved our royal room but complained it was small.

We are a family of five kids are 10 and 7 (twins) with kids that age I would strongly recommend 2 rooms at a value. It will cost just a little more but to me its worth every penny to have 2 bathrooms. We have stayed at POR when the kids were younger. It was not comfortable.

We will be there with our 3 boys (11,12,14). We stayed there in the past and for the amount of time we were in the room it was fine. It is also my understanding that the beds are now queen sized, so that's a plus with a bit older kids. My youngest is 5' and under 80# so he should be fine on the trundle/daybed...

We don't spend much time at the resort so I'm not so worried about space. However, I would suggest bringing an air mattress since the bed for the 5th person is very small.

We did it last year. It was tight but we were not in the room much s no big deal.

We have stayed multiple times with five of us at POR. Last year my kids were 14, 12 and 9. Our two youngest fit just fine in the murphy (taking turns, not together, lol) and we didn't feel cramped at all.

We have stayed at POR as a family of 5 several times. We even did it once as a family of 6 (kids were 2, 5, 8, and 14 that time). We spend so little time in our room and awake that it is fine for us.

glad to see this, we were also wondering about this size with a family of 5(we are usually 6, but have one staying home next trip). I am still trying to figure if we are going to do 2 rooms at POFQ of 1 at POR. this big plus for us getting 2 rooms is the SHOWER. hate to have 2 girls and myself and only 1 bathroom in the mornings. I have my youngest that is a bit small for her age and my 15yr old ds that is smaller so we could do one room....

We had 3 adults & 2 kids ages 7 & 9 in one room at PQR. We never had a problem as so little time was spent in the room. At night once we hit the beds we were all sound asleep in seconds

The murphy bed is 5.5' by 2.5'. About the same width as a crib mattress, but a bit longer than a crib mattress.

Ours are a little younger, but we pack a lot also (drive) and we were fine. My DD (10 at the time) 5' and 95# slept just fine on the murphy bed.

We stayed Nov '11 when the renovated rooms first opened up. I went with 3 teenage girls. My youngest was 13 and around 5 ft. She fit just fine on the murphy bed. It wasn't the most comfortable thing in the world but it worked for what we needed it for. The only requests I had was for a renovated room on the corner (for the extra window to seem bigger). We stay at the park most of the time so having a lot of room wasn't an issue and the double sinks were nice . We would go back in an instant and actually will be for one night before checking into Wilderness lodge in a few months .

Hated POR. We stayed there Dec 11 when we had DD7, DD6, DS5 (no baby). It was very tight. We don't spend a lot of time in the room either. We will stay at SOG in one room if we have too (bigger rooms than anything Disney offers), but prefer 2 rooms. We need the extra bed and extra bathroom is also a plus.
Plus, the room we got in Alligator Bayou was so far away from the main building that we drove. Didn't even feel we could use our mugs.

We have done it, before the Murphy bed, I think 2008, kids, 17,14, 3. It was not bad, but was cramped, we did not spend much time in room. We love the resort, but we found SoG, twice the space and a full size day bed, and always cheaper, so we can not justify going back.
