MCO / Port canaveral rental cars

I have been reading on these boards about the awesome deals that people get on rental cars between MCO and port canaveral... $25 / $30 / $40 one way rentals. How do you do it?! And how far in advance do you book?

I have been checking the rates almost daily for a solid 3 months on multiple websites (budget, Avis, hertz, enterprise) and can't seem to find a deal like those mentioned above. Granted, I need one car seat so I'm willing to add an extra $10-$13 onto the cost but the final cost that I'm getting is realistically between $90 - $120 for a one way rental.

I make sure that I enter less than a 24 hour time span to make sure I only get charged for one day and I've been looking for coupon codes at mouse savers and other discount sites. The coupons work but they're not even close to being able to get me a $50 one day one way car rental.

I'm cruising in May. Any suggestions on when to book, who has the best prices and what I need to do differently to get the awesome deals mentioned on the disboards?

Thanks in advance.

I think most car rental deals come out within 2 months or less of the eligible period. It might be too early if you aren't cruising until May. I suggest that you keep checking back. Sign-up for email notifications. I think we changed our car rental plan 3 times because better deals kept coming out. The last one was maybe 3 weeks prior to our sailing.

Enjoy your cruise!

Tigger, TY! I thought I had an awesome deal with Hertz but that discount code saved me $20 switching to Budget!

We always use Budget - and we book through Costco's webpage. This past time (in January), I originally booked a month out and got a minivan for $80, then I checked every couple of days. The last two weeks, I cancelled and rebooked several times. The last time I rebooked 4 days before the rental and ended up getting for $38!

Thanks tigger. That takes me down to $80 one way. Best code I've seen yet. Maybe I should just wait until we get a little closer. This is just the last detail to plan and the anticipation is killing me.

I don't know when it expires. I found it a couple months ago here on disboards and used for our trip to Disneyworld 3 weeks ago. I also used it for our cruise in September(yes I know it is far away but I like to plan things out) but I am also going to try lanejudy's approach and keep checking closer to the date.

I just used this code and got $80.00 for one way, but it is a 2 day rental. We stay at WDW for tow nights before boarding the ship so this will cover transportation from MCO-WDW and WDW-port! Plus, we can hit a liquor store for our carry-on wine! Thanks!!!!!!!

I got this rate by using corporate discount code that employees are allowed to use for person travel. The negotiated corporate rate waves the 1-way drop-off fee resulting in a considerable discount.

Try this one:

DOnt wait to at least book the car, you can always cancel.

If you wait, the price may be higher.

Just tried booking through budget. I was happy with my estimated total but then when I confirmed my reservation it doubled my carseat rental fee! I cancelled both ways. So they charge you a fee / day for the car itself but in this case a day is defined by less than a 24 hour period. But the fee / day for a carseat means a calendar day? Grrr... Very misleading.

I think I will keep shopping.

We've always rented from budget (but via the UK branch). We have always had a car seat from them (the booster seat type, rather than the 5 point harness type) and never had to pay anything. We don't prebook and they just say help yourself to one at the office.

That sounds fantastic but I don't think I want to bank on that happening.

Thanks so much for the code #U240720! I just used it and got a $53.00 one way SUV on April 24th & then a $43.00 SUV on April 28th to WDW. Awesome!

I am trying to rent us a car from May 17 at 7 pm, to May 18 at 12 pm. This is a 17 hour rental.

Budget is giving me a quote of $72.99 for the second cheapest car. My husband says this is really high for not even 24 hours! Any coupon codes or tips anyone can give me to bring the price down a bit??

Try this code: Y937800. I've used it a couple times for a good discount :-)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Thanks for the code. I just found one on retailmenot that brought the price down from $72.99 to $40.00, so I used that for both days. Sorry for the thread!
