He discovered the joy of self-serve dole whip!

We stayed offsite in September....and went to the Poly every day for this. Needless to say, it is a big reason why he wants to stay there this trip :) he proudly wears his dole whip t-shirt!!

Got the trip payed off today. :woohoo: Can't wait for our first poly stay!!

I reserved a third floor balcony in Tokelau. Now, I'm wondering if I should have chose 1st floor patio? Ack........what to do, what to do........I like the idea of walking straight out, but don't like the idea of people being able to just walk by the room. I value peace most of all.

Just be aware you can't lock the patio doors from the outside if that's a consideration.

Just paid ours off today too ! :goodvibes I'm kind of having the same dilemma as you... I reserved 1st floor Tahiti LV, wanted to be able to just walk out and play on the beach, etc. They said Tahiti doesn't have a walkway in front of the rooms on the lagoon view side which is good b/c it should be more private but now I'm worried that the view won't be as good as from a 3rd floor room. Maybe I should change to a 3rd floor now?!?!:rotfl2: We won't be checking in until about 7:30 p.m. so I most likely won't even get my request at all anyway...I'll just have to wait and see what might even be available. :confused3 What worries me about checking in so late is that I will end up getting one of those rooms you have to squint to see the lagoon and still have to pay all the extra $$$ for a LV ! :crazy2: I'm thinking and worrying too much again...

This time tomorrow we will be on our way to the Poly!! yahoo!
going to get some snacks at target first and be there around noon.....I know we won't be able to check in then but want to enjoy the pool if it warms up! And then eat dinner at O'hanan at 5! I am sooooo excited! Does checking in early help with getting room requests?

How exciting :yay:. Check in starts as early as 6:00 or 7:00 a.m., so you can check in as soon as you get there. Your room may or not be ready, and if it isn't, you can head to the pool. They will text you as soon as your room is ready. Hope you have a great trip and enjoy the Poly :goodvibes.

Thanks to a recent episode on 19 kids and Counting my daughter is dying to ride a surrey bike. Does the Poly have Surrey bike rentals? I figure it'll be easier if we can rent one at the resort we're staying rather than go to another resort.

Yes they do! They are located at the marina.

Sorry if this has been covered, but will there be any king-bedded rooms (other than the Suites) once the renovations are finished in 2013? If so, which buildings?

I recall hearing a rumor that they will have King rooms after the renovations also I think it is rumored that all rooms will have 2 sinks but Nothing official yet as far as I know.

Hi all! I've been slowly making my way through this thread. My family and I are staying at the Poly for the first time this August, and my fingers are crossed that I'll be able to book our vow renewal there as well (waiting on the call back from DFTW.) My kids are so excited!

Is it really necessary to request a certain room/longhouse? Are there any bad locations? Any secrets I should know about our stay or must dos?

No, you don't need to make a room request and I don't think there are any strictly bad room locations. It really depends on personal preference. For example: a lot of people love the Tahiti longhouse because it is one of the newer buildings, has great lagoon view rooms, and is very close to the TTC. But our family would not request it because it is not close to the GCH, which is important to us. My advice would be to figure out what is important to you, then consider requesting that longhouse

Thanks Tinkerbellie for the beautiful cabana pics and informative review!! We have a 12 day stay at the Poly this June, and I just booked a full day cabana for not one but BOTH of our resort days!!! One of those days is our 25th wedding anniversary!! We are SO excited!! I saw the fruit picture posted on another site and the pineapple looked delicious. Do they restock the fruit for you as well?

The fruit tray was so large that we had leftovers from a full day rental with 4 people. While I don't believe it is an unlimited amount of fruit (and you only are guaranteed to get it if you reserve in advance), we did not ask for more. I'm petty sure it is only one fruit tray.

Your correct Tnkerbellie16 - only one fruit tray and no refills. They will only keep the non-alcoholic beverages restocked in the fridge!

There are advantages and disadvantages to almost every room/longhouse so unless there is something about the location of a specific room/longhouse that would "ruin" your vacation it is not necessary to request anything.

If having a balcony is important to you then just request a third floor room. If being close to the GCH is important then just request that.

Locations and views are pretty much personal preference and I don't think there are any truly bad locations at the Poly. If you have read all of this thread you have seen that there are people who obviously disagree with me. ;)

Hi! I was wondering if any of you had pictures of the TPV rooms (spec. the view). I haven't been able to find too many. We are going to be splurging for a TPV, but are having a hard time deciding between the Contemporary and Poly. I love the Poly and really want to stay there, although I am pretty sure the TPV is a lot better at the Comtemporary which will make the family happier. The Poly just seems more kid friendly. I'm also excited about the renovations. We are so close to booking our trip. We just have to make this final decision (which resort). If anyone has any reviews on the Poly TPV please let me know. I tried to use some of the links for reviews at the beginning of this thread, but some did not work or show pictures. Thanks for any help you can offer in advance.

We have stayed TPV in Tuvalu and Hawaii. We haven't stayed TPV at CR, and although you are a lot closer to the MK, from the pictures I've seen the view seems "interrupted" by a big parking lot between the CR & the MK. IMO, what you lack in proximity to the MK, at the Poly you make up for it with much prettier views.

This is the view from Hawaii (zoomed)

At the Poly you also get the added bounus of the EWP, which you won't get TPV at CR!
