DDC XXVII: Penguins in Paradise!

Ever feel like you just did a beer bong full of Beverly, followed by someone using one of those stadium t-shirt cannons to fire a jar of Peanut Butter at your groin? Yup.

Fly out for Florida tomorrow at noon. Forecast for tomorrow here in Milwaukee? 6-10" of snow with blowing and drifting. :furious: Cruise doesn't leave until Thursday, and Tuesday evening and Wednesday were basically planned as hanging out with the in-laws at their place, so I'm not too upset if we're delayed a little bit. But sitting at the airport, watching it snow and staring at an empty gate where our plane should be sitting for 3....4.....5.... hours with 3 kids could get a wee pit annoying.

David - congrats on the acceptance. Good luck with the rest of it!

Chris - ouch, sorry to hear that. See if they can record the video for you to post here.

Everyone else - :wave2:

ugh. I know that feeling. Hopefully if they do cancel your flight, they'll do it and get you rescheduled without having to go to the airport. Nothing worse than being caught in the inbetween where you may or may not get out before the storm gets too bad.

Gotta go Black Cauldron by a nose.
I gotta confess. Never seen Black Cauldron but it looks like I need to do that. Maybe Wednesday afternoon as the propofol is wearinig off!
I used to wear contacts....then in 2004, DW and I treated ourselves to getting our eyes "zapped" with a LASIK procedure.

Plus, they pulled my name out of a hat that month which made my procedure free! And, I had opted for the lifetime "enhancement" on my eyes.
i wish I had gotten the lifetime warranty on my eyes. I had LASIK done in 2001 and I can tell my eyesight isn't as sharp as it used to be. It's still pretty good though. I pay for vision benefits every year and never use it.
Sorry you're still having issues, Chris. None of the treatment sounds like fun to me, but maybe you'll have some cool dreams?:confused3
Interesting time to put the "If you can dream it, you can do it" theory to the test.
I have done a lot for my daughter, including taking her and six of her friends to Disney World.

Are you stupid, crazy, freakin' nuts?!?

Well, maybe you should think about taking a laptop with you. Maybe you can get some work done on a couple of TR's while you're sitting around waiting. You really don't want to get 3 full trips behind on TR writing, do you??? :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

We might have to start calling you Don.

But the end result is that you'll be on a Disney Cruise.

You're going to be singing the Pink Elephants song from Dumbo, I just know it.

This is where you earn the title DISDad! Be ready for it with fun stuff for the kids to do. Scavenger Hunt would be good, you know, find a word without an a or e, how many Mickey Mouses they can find, anyone wearing Ravens gear, and best of all, can they find a meowing fireplace!

Proud DIS Dad moment for me today...

Got home from Church and was making my girls brunch
Youngest say no to brunch and want PB&J. Cool.
I wanted eggs and asked my other daughter if she wants them.
My oldest opted for an omelette.
So I asked, "Bacon or sausage?" Her response, "Can I have both?"
Such a little carnivore.
Smart girl. :thumbsup2
Morning guys,

I know you are going to laugh but last night was the coldest of the year in S. Florida. Reached the low 40's. Even the kid going to school in NJ thought it was cold.

Woo-Hoo too!

I have done a lot for my daughter, including taking her and six of her friends to Disney World. The one thing I refused to do was to be a chaperone on any type of school outing. Good luck and if you need assistance, activate the extraction beacon.

Hope everyone has a good day.
When it gets up to the low 40s I'll be breaking out the shorts and sandals.

What were you thinking? :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Good luck Barry. We haven't got much here but the wind is blowing it all over the place.

I hear those are very rare.

I didn't find the cause yet. Inspected it yesterday and couldn't find any holes or places where critters could crawl in. Maybe we have a stray cat living in the garden somewhere.:confused3

Mark, I know you plan your trip well in advance, I also know you need Alaska to finish the 50 states. So think about the Wonder in June of 2014. :rolleyes1

Hi Randall.:wave2:

Hi Chris! Get better please!?!

I've been off the radar for a week or so... Been painting and installing new tile in my basement. I have another few hours of painting today and I should be done. We have new carpet coming in a few weeks. We need to make room for our new addition coming in about 2 months. We are turning our dining room into the baby's room, our living room into the dining room, and downstairs will be the new living room. We were thinking about doing some remodeling, but the quotes we got were way out of our budget right now. Basically 80-90K to add a dining room off our family room, expand our kitchen by 8x12, add central air, and put hardwood in the baby's room. I guess we will live with our new configuration for now.

Hope everyone had a good week...

Barry- Can you try to call the airline and get an earlier flight out? Sometimes they will allow a change for no fee for impending weather.

CT Sandy Hook Runners- Hope your training is going well... less than 20 days!!! I guess I need to get a little training under my belt. I hope to get back to the gym this week. I've been cleared by my doctor to start light training.

I'll try. If only there were something special you could post for me today. Specifically today. Then I'm sure I'd feel better.

This?

Or this?

Thanks Randall! Now to continue the celebration, I'm off to the dentist!!

This is where I guess I would say Tim had a good idea, but Bambi called me before I read Tim's post, so the credit for the good idea goes to Bambi. Better luck next time, buddy. :thumbsup2

Anyway, the Winter Storm Warning starts tomorrow morning at 6am. I called Southwest and got on an earlier flight, leaving at 6:15. It's a connecting flight in Kansas City instead of a direct flight, but if we can get out of Wisconsin before the storm hits I can deal with that.

Now to accelerate all of our plans by 6 hours, including cutting into my beauty sleep for the 3am wake up call to make the drive to the airport.

That would be awesome. :thumbsup2

The only thing that would scare me would be the cost for 5, especially if my wife doesn't get offered a job for next year.
