She will be an adult. Good news - Palo and Remy are fine. Bad news - no Vibe for her.

As above, 18 years old = adult. Adult areas only.

DCL used to allow an 18 year old who hadn't started college yet attend Vibe, but that all changed in Dec 2011.

okay so now i need to change my cruise........

SO, if she is 17 when she boards the ship but turns 18 on the cruise can she go in the vibe and do palo?

She will be allowed to attend Vibe UNTIL her 18th birthday, after that no.
She will be allowed to dine at Palo or Remy ON or AFTER the birthday, but not before.
Sounds like it might be a good solution if that works with your schedule.

Enjoy your cruise!

She can go to Vibe while she is still 17. Once she turns 18, she can go to Palo, but no longer go to Vibe.

Looking for every little perk, are we? :goodvibes

Are you sure either of those - Vibe or Palo/Remy - is worth changing your plans over? I can't say about Palo/Remy becuase we have not ever been, but how much my kids liked the teen activities varied a lot over the years and over the cruises.

Yes of course,:)

This will be my youngest DD 18th bday gift.

As we have done for all the others. I really want her to b able
to do palo with us, as i doubt we will be back for another DCL for awhile

But i would like her to be able to meet some kids to hang with as well.

i guess its back to the SEARCH page for me.

Thanks for your help

Well, actually, i will be letting my DD decide........

We wont be sailing until 2014.

But yes if she decides we need to change it, its worth it.

We had a cruise planned with our DD's 18th birthday in the middle of the trip. We were told (by DCl and our travel agent was told the same thing) no for the Vibe for the entire cruise. And she could only go into the adult areas alone once she turns 18. Until that day, she could go into those areas with an adult. We changed the cruise.

There is an 18-21 group that meets up onboard, so there will be an opportunity for her to meet others her same age onboard.

Initially this is how the change was handled. It put kids who had their 18th bday onboard in a limbo zone where they didn't belong anywhere. Due to complaints, the policy was changed. The kids have their KTTW card that allows them access to the Vibe taken away and replaced with an adult KTTW card on their 18th birthday.

It's my understanding that this is no longer true.

When DCL started not allowing 18 year olds (regardless of high school status) into Vibe, at the beginning, anyone turning 18 during the cruise was considered persona non gratis in Vibe. After many complaints, DCL has been allowing those turning 18 on the cruise to use Vibe until their birthday, and then they're out.

Beat me to it! :goodvibes

Thank you al for the help.

I am so glad i asked this early......

I suppose the ruling could change again, but seems like they have it figured out.

Appreciate the input and the knowledge.:thumbsup2

My 17 year old would take the adult activities over Vibe any day. Palo, Serenity Bay, tours of the ship, Rainforest, gym, adult trivia games... My daughter liked Vibe, but would really prefer the other things.
