1 Person ADR vs 2 Person ADR

I am a solo traveler, for the most part. I've been making my ADR's for one person. However, I found a friend is going to join me on a couple of nights.

When I've gone to make new reservations, I've found better times for 2 people as opposed to 1 person. Which, to me, doesn't make sense, since I am still using one table.

Would it be wrong of me to book two people if I find a better time and then cancel a person when I get there?

You should just go ahead and book the two person reservation. I did that last summer and there was no problem. When I arrived at the restaurant I just gave my name and that I was only one person and was seated with no questions asked.

I'm a solo traveler as well an made the same experience. Tried to get an early adr for CP (8:10 on a day MK opens a 9) and wasn't able to get an early time slot on any day of my vacation for a party of 1. Tried a party of 2 and there was availability almost every day für 8:10 or 8:20...so I just made the adr for 2.
Guess it would be a problem to do this for a prepaid adr like CRT but other than that, a little "cheating" on the system should do no harm...same table size anyway and when I get there I just tell them it's me myself and I instead of 2 people.

Just tell them your partner couldn't make it. It can happen.

I have found that also true in making reservations online for 5 people. I sometimes found 6 or more available but not for 5. I actually made the reservation online and then called in a day or two and cancelled the extra people. For two it probably doesn't make a difference in the tables but I was afraid it would keep someone from getting a reservation. You might also want to think about their policy changes and if you show up and cancel when you arrive at the restaurant they may charge you. So I would just cancel before I left home.

They just charge you when you don't show up at all. As long as you're checking it at the restaurant, it doesn't matter if the number of people on the adr is the number of people showing up.

Thanks for the advice, I've decided to do the 2 person with a couple of ADR's.

They never charge me for a missing member, I don't know if they charge you if you have to reserve with a credit card.

It it better to just be honest. All the OP needs to do is tell them that due to the limitations of the reservation system, the reservation had to be made for 2, but there will be only 1 person dining.
