'Disney' Hotels in Miami?

When sailing out of Port Canaveral, we arrive the day before embarkation and stay at the airport Hyatt. It's very convenient, we usually find bargain rates, and Disney sets up at the hotel for check-in and transportation.

For our cruise out of Galveston in May we booked the Hotel Galvez thru Disney to take advantage of Disney transportation from IAH the day before embarkation - and Disney will move us from the hotel to the ship the next day.

Has anyone heard about hotels with similar arrangements for Miami? Not sure if we'll be in WDW before the cruise (in which case we'll fly into MIA the morning of embarkation) or just fly directly into MIA the day before.

I've since heard this from my TA:

Presently the JW Marriott & the Eden Roc Renaissance. Disney is supposed to be adding the Conrad Miami for 2014.

I'm guessing that besides booking clients at these hotels, there will be DCL transport scheduled from there to the port. And airport to hotel if the hotel is booked through Disney.

That's how Galveston worked for us. We're arriving at IAH the day before embarkation and DCL is providing transport to the hotel (which we booked thru DCL to qualify for early transport) and then on the port on embarkation day.

I was hoping for something at a hotel near MIA. I suppose we could book ourselves at a hotel that has complimentary airport transfers and then transfer back to the airport for DCL pickup....? We don't have air booked yet (too far in advance), but the arrangements for using the MCO Hyatt were so convenient we were hoping something similar would be available for MIA.

Hotels will charge you something similar to what DCL would charge you. Since DCL charges you from airport to port, I would just schedule this with the hotel, or take a cab.

Most hotels in the airport area (specially Blue Lagoon area) have free shuttles from the airport. Then I would take a cab or arrange with the hotel for a shuttle to the port.

FWIW, for our upcoming Mar 11th cruise out of Miami, we just booked rooms in the airport hotel for the night before: miahotel.com.

Right in the terminal, no transfers required.

Please let us know what you think of the hotel after your stay. Looks interesting from their website, and the price is reasonable. Will you be using Disney transportation to the ship? How did that work. Will you just show up and say 'here we are' or do you advise DCL in advance? Guess you'd book transport in advance; did they ask for your flight info? Did they tell you when you needed to check-in for the bus to the port?

Thanks for any information that you may have!

Coincidentally, I booked our pre-cruise stay at the Eden Roc and a short post-cruise stay at one of the 2 JWs which are in downtown Miami.

We've stayed at the Eden Roc before. It has lots of pools and a great beach, but there's little else in the immediate area.

We booked a hotel that offers free transfers to and from both the airport and the port. Comfort Suites Miami Airport North. Trip Advisor ratings are great. AAA rate for 4 was $110 a night with free hot breakfast, wireless, and the transfers. Also has a pool.

We're undecided at present: We'll either fly into MCO, spend a few days at WDW, and fly down to Miami early in the morning day of, or fly into MIA the afternoon before. In the second scenario we'd be looking for a place to sleep before heading out to the port for embarkation. The prices I've seen for the Eden Roc and Marriotts seem a bit pricey for a place to sleep.

Meghatron's hotel with free transfers to both MIA and the port, a free breakfast, and WiFi sounds like it would serve handily.

[And we'd rather spend a few days at WDW....]

I appreciate the thanks but I got it off the DIS Miami info thread. :D

I am wondering if any of these hotels worked out for folks. I am looking at the Comfort Inn and Suites Airport North or the hotel at the airport.

Right now I have booked transfer via DCL from the airport to the port and back.

If I book the Comfort Suites I would only need transfer from port to airport and it might just be easier to get a cab.

Any thoughts?

We are sailing out of Miami in November. We are staying at a Holiday Inn in Miami Beach using points the nit before. I may add one more night to have two days in Miami. I looked at the DCL hotels, but they seemed pricey... I am interested in seeing where people stay and how they like them.

The Comfort suites has a shuttle from the airport and to the port. So for $111 a night plus tax, doesn't sound too bad. Now this requires you to prepay and be a choice privilege member.

we stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites Miami Airport East they have free shuttle to/from the airport and free to the port, but have to pay (can't remember how much) if you need to get back after the cruise. They also have free parking and free breakfast. We flew to FLL and rented a car, we stayed for 2 nights before the cruise, returned the car the night before at the Miami airport and took hotel shuttle back to hotel and shuttle in the morning to the port. On the way back took car rental shuttle to get a car again at Miami airport and drove to FLL.

The hotel is at the terminal? Cool! How are you getting to the port?

Free transfers to both airport and port? :woohoo: I need to check this out. :thanks:

That is where we are thinking about staying. Then all we need is transfer back to the airport afters. So we could use Disney transportation or hire a car.

I just looked and for my dates, the cheapest I can find there is $207 which includes:

Bon Voyage Package Overview:

Premium suite
Bottle of wine
Hot breakfast buffet
Airport shuttle service
Shuttle service to cruise port
Hotel parking available at small additional charge

I can't seem to find just a regular room with transfers. :confused3

We booked transfers and hotel stay at the JW Marriott for the night before our cruise in April. An awesome Mercedes Benz stretch party bus picked us up at the airport! lol My kids thought they were rock stars. Hotel was fine, you leave your luggage in your room around 10:00, meet in the lobby at 11:00 for your bus to the port. The morning we were there, there was also a huge group leaving for another cruise and it was a bit c onfusing and crowded as the two groups were trying to sort themselves out. I would do the Eden Roc the next time, however, because the Marriott is really more of a business hotel - the pool was crappy and small and there wasn't really anything to do.
