Reservation Question:

I am in the middle of purchasing a 150 (October) point contract at BWV, passed ROFR yesterday. When I got the contract I was pleasantly surprised to find out the contract came with 29 points from 2011 and 150 points from 2012.

I will not travel before Oct 2013, so I will be looking to rent those 29 2011 points. I suppose that I may need to hold back some of my 2012 in case a renter needs more than 29. I expect to close and be in Disney's system about Mid-April, and I will make a reservation immediately when my membership is set up.

My question is this:

If I make a reservation on April 15 for Dec 2013 or Jan 2012 using my Oct 2013 points, will I be able to substitute my October 2012 points after I bank them, or will I need to cancel and rebook if I want to use Oct 2012 points instead of Oct 2013 points

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've looked around and can't seem to find the answer.

Oct 2011 points have to be used before Oct 2012 unless they were banked and turned into 2012 points.

Any points from October, 2011 would have already expired unless they were banked. It would be safe to assume that any resale contract for sale in 2013 with points from ANY 2011 contract would have already been banked. From the response by the OP, it appears that is, in fact, exactly the case.

The October, 2012 points need to be banked by the end of May to be used beyond September 30, 2013 so it would be best to bank any points from your 2012 Use Year that you intend to use for reservations in your 2013 Use Year. MS would allow you to substitute newly banked points for reservations beyond 10/1/13 though without the need to cancel and rebook. I would certainly want to esitmate the points likely to be needed to flush out rentals beyond 29 points to simplify the process though.

Any reservations from that contract for dates after October 1, 2013 will have to be points already in the 2013 Use Year (banked points from 2012, current points from 2013 and/or borrowed points from 2014). The points from October, 2012 must be banked to use them beyond September 30, 2013.

Welcome Home! :)

I will certainly bank all the 2012 points that aren't already allocated before the May 31 banking deadline.

Thanks, that's what I really needed to here. I want to be able to make a reservation in mid April with (mainly) 2013 points and then switch it to 2012 points after I know what is needed for rental.

I was scared that if I were changing which points were used then I may lose my reservation and have to start over.

Thanks for helping. By the way I looked for information on this situation and couldn't find it. Is this a detail that you can only find in the fine print once you are in the club?

Reallocation of points is not always understood by CMs at Member Services. If you need to reallocate and the person who answers the phone seems hesitant then ask for a supervisor or call back. Just wanted to warn you...

Thanks for the warning
