Regular poster, but I don't like to post personal info. I need some assistance please. We moved to Orlando some time ago, we are currently renting and plan to rent for a couple more years. We currently live on the north west side of Disney and are looking for apartments closer to downtown, metro west, millennium area due to our jobs. I have been looking online for MONTHS, the more reviews I read the more I'm convinced there are NO nice places to live around downtown Orlando. I'm hoping that some of you may have passed thru some of these places, or know someone who lives or works there.

I'm looking for a SAFE complex, that allows 1 dog around 50lbs, and a complex that keeps the place clean. At least 2 bedrooms, 2 bath, garage a plus, not more than $1500 a month.

Metro and Millennia areas can be bad. I would look in Winter Park, Maitland, Altamonte Springs, Longwood, places in those areas. I can't help you with specific apartment though.

That's certainly the vibe I'm getting,, DF works at Universal and I just got a new job in Winter Park, trying to find that happy medium may prove to be impossible.

When you find a complex PM me, I know the area well. I think there are some around Howell Branch and Aloma along 436 that are not too bad, but don't get any farther towards the airport than that. Also be careful around Aloma as you can get stuck with Full Sail students. They seem to be all around Goldenrod and Forsyth, in around there.

I'm going to piggy back on this. My husband is going to be starting a new job at UTI on W Taft Vineland Rd. We will be looking for a one bedroom or studio apt for him..He will be staying there MOnday thru Friday and coming home on the week-ends..Thanks

LuvLuvLuv,

I can't reply privately to your PM because I don't have enough posts, so I hope this is ok;

Awesome, thank you. I like where we are now, I feel safe, we're just soooooooo off the beaten path. I've started thinking maybe we should rent a condo, or a house. I'm not sure I've heard of the places you mentioned, so I will defiantly look into those. Thank you!

Take a look at Hawthorne Groves, just a tad east of Ocoee. I've got a good friend who's lived there for nearly 5 years. Really pretty complex with lots of trees and nicely laid-out apartments. Safe, quiet, and really pet-friendly, although I don't know what their breed and / or weight parameters are. I've seen 50+ lb dogs there, but I don't know if those dogs came in fully grown or as puppies.

But it's a nice complex with reasonable rents for the area. About a half-hour to Disney via either Apopka-Vineland or the 429.

I'm not in Orlando, but I want to throw something out to you re: looking for rentals: consider getting off your computer and spending some time randomly exploring. IME, the very best way to find a good rental place is to do it in person, and preferably on foot or on a bicycle.

Personally, I don't like complexes, and when you are looking for privately-owned rentals, there is no substitute for going out looking for yard signs in neighborhoods that you like. However, getting your feet on the pavement is important for complexes as well, because you need to get a good feel for the place and the neighborhood that it is in, and with the exception of testing the commuting issues and the nearby stores, it is very hard to do that properly from inside an automobile.

I know Orlando is a car-centric town with a lot of walls, but remember that a car insulates you from all kinds of things, including smells and noise. When you really spend time wandering around an area on a bike or on foot, you get a much better feel for the "vibe" that it has.

There is a brand new apartment complex adjacent to Lakeside Village on CR535 in Windermere. The apartments look beautiful and you can literally walk to Lakeside Village.

This is about a 15 minute drive to Universal. From this part of time, you will have a pretty good commute to Winter Park.

My sister lives in the Winter Park area and she rents a house with 3 bedroom 1 bath for $1,00.00. It is an up and coming neighborhood and the older homes rent is somewhat reasonable. If you are interesed in the area, let me know and I will get details from her.

We owned a place in Horizon at Stonebridge, which is in Metrowest. It was quite nice and safe, in spite of some areas around it that weren't so nice and safe. They are all privately owned. We tried to rent it for a little but finally just sold. Anyway, there are a number of different Stonebridge areas. All are gated and fairly secure in the middle of Metrowest.

I've defiantly been out exploring, we've visited a few places, and drove past others (sometimes that's all you need to see). And I totally get what your saying about walking. Thanks for the suggestion.

Yes, we have visited there, it is a beautiful complex. We actually live about five minutes from there so unfortunately this location wouldn't help our drive time. Some of these units have an amazing view of Wishes each night. I can hear them each night but I currently can't see them :(

I'm falling in love with Winter Park, I love the old school, small town vibe of it all. It's a beautiful community!

Checked out the area off of Winter Garden Vineland Road (aka 535) called Summerport in Windermere tonight. Noticed the are building some brand new apartments in the red area (behind the Publix). Does anyone know anything about this project? Who or what or where to contact? The location is perfect and Summerport is a beautiful mix of SFD and town homes, along with walking and biking trails and ponds and lakes. I realize these won't be cheep, but I would love, love, love to get some info.

Thanks in advance!

This is a very nice area. We live about a mile or 2 from here. Schools are great, loads of closeby shopping and restaurants and of course a few lil ole themeparks!
