WL check in question

Usually we use ME, but for the next trip will have a rental car. When checking into WL, is there a place to leave the car up front while checking in or do we have to park it? We will have some non-perishable groceries that I don't want to unload if the room isn't ready, but will if it is ready.

You can't leave your car. One of you can go and check in while the other stays with the car. Or you can park it in the lot and both of you check in. But you can't both leave the car at the entrance.

We always leave our car for a few minutes near the front entrance while checking in. The valet folks might want you to leave your keys with them in case they have to move the car out of the way. But we normally park just off the valet area for a few minutes, check in, get our KTTW cards, parking pass (if they didn't provide that at the guard shack), and packet, and I'll go back to the car to move it to an actual spot while the family waits in the lobby for me. I've never had a problem doing this at WL, Poly, BC, etc.

Once the room is ready I go back to the car and unload the bags from the car.

We have left our car out front at the WL a couple of times while checking in.

Thanks for the replies! Sounds like it's possible to leave it there for a little, assuming it's not a busy time, but no designated check-in parking spots up front. Not a biggie, I was just wondering if most people just drive up and unload or park and wait or what.

And the lot is pretty close - it's not like Boardwalk or anything - so even if you do park it's typically not much of a hike to get in to the hotel anyhow.

This has been our experience. We typically leave the keys with the valets. Once we forgot and unpacked before we moved the car...like 45 minutes later. Oops! It was Kidani, and we had no idea how far the room was from the lobby.

1) Realistically, the Porte-Cochère is not all that big.
2) If not busy, we have let people park and check-in.
3) If busy, there is not enough room to leave your car.
4) So, to answer your question, MAYBE you can leave the car.

Sorry for the vague answer, but it all just depends upon the time of
day and amount of others with cars. WL can't let the area be blocked
by people trying to check-in. Yes, I have heard a few complaints from
folks, but it is simply a matter of available space. As mentioned above,
the best way to solve your problem is valet-park.

I've never used valet parking. So, they would park the car, and when we want it to unpack the valet will bring it back? Even if its only for a small amount of time?

Yes, but it will cost you if you do that.

Honestly, besides giving the valet people my keys in case they need to move it in the 10 minutes I'm inside checking in to WL, I've never needed to do anything but make sure my car is far enough away from the front door for other vehicles to be moved (maybe 50 feet down the drive).

We've stayed at WL 4 times, Poly 3 times and BC once. I've always done this and have never had anyone tell me I can't.

Thanks again everyone! Guess we will try leaving keys with the valet while we check in. If this turns out to not be possible, sounds like the parking lot isn't far.
