DCL transfer off the ship

We are going from AOA to the ship and I have tags for my luggage sent to my from DCL

My question is for the return. We are taking DCL from the ship to POR and they haven't sent me any tags. Is this something they do on the ship or should I call and find out where they are?

You won't get tags. They will have your name on a list at the podium where you meet the bus once you have your luggage and have exited the terminal building. Just tell them your name and which resort you're going to, and "Mickey will do the rest."

We just did this back in January and it was a quick and painless experience. Even though there were three stops before our resort, we were still checking in by 10 am (and our room was ready, which was probably a lucky break).

Check your little cruise booklet too, just for piece of mind. There should be mention of port to resort transfers in there somewhere.

They give you any luggage tags you need for disembarkation once you are on the ship. To have DCL take your luggage off the ship into the terminal, you will be given a Character/color tag (i.e. red mickey, green tinkerbell). Your stateroom host will leave these near the end of the cruise along with disembarkation instructions. These tags identify where in the terminal you will be able to find your luggage prior to going through customs.

Your key to the world card will have a letter on it showing that you have transfers to the resort, you show that to them and they will direct you to the right bus.

Can I tack a question onto your thread? I hope it's okay. :goodvibes

Do we need to take our luggage to the bus to be stowed underneth if we're going to a Disney resort after the cruise? I read that if you're flying a participating airline you just leave your bags outside your stateroom door and they're taken. Does it work that way with the resorts too? TIA :flower3:

You put out your luggage the night before but you claim in at the port, go through customs and take it to the port. Bus driver will stow it underneath for you.

You can either put your bags out night before departing ship or keep bags and walk off with them to customs. Either way you walk out with them through customs. I had transportation to resorts, and we opted to take bags down with us. We were given tags with our cruise docs, but since you are on the bus with your bags, you just take them out when you leave bus. Very easy process.

Thanks everyone, I didn't realize we had to take the bags to the bus with us. I thought Disney took them the same way ME does.

Me too. Or at least that is what I was hoping.

Nope, they don't do that. However, there are tons of porters in the luggage pick up area in the terminal who are very helpful. They'll assist you in gathering your luggage and will carry it for you as you go through security and then all the way to the DCL bus transfer area, so you don't have to do any "luggage lugging" yourself. Most folks will, I think, recommend tipping the porters ~$2.00 per bag. Totally worth it if you ask me, especially if your family travels with the kitchen sink like mine does. :)

:thumbsup2 Thank you! I am so happy to hear that we don't have to lug the luggage!!
