Sorry, but did a search, and didnt see this posted anywhere else---

http://allears.net/news/top-news.htm?id=651

I dont know, but I have a LIL BIT of a problem with this-- (I dont want anyone to think I am sitting here stewing over it) -- (There are many more important things to get REALLY upset about)

But.......

"Randomly selected guests at the Wilderness Lodge, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian will receive a FastPass+ card with a specified arrival time for lunch (counter service) at the Be Our Guest restaurant in the new Fantasyland."

Why not select guests at one of the Values, one of the Moderates, and one of the Deluxe resorts?

And, while I understand this is an early test, what about AP holders?

(ever the CM's during our last trip were saying that AP holders and being left out in the cold--- the AP hotel rates not what they used to be--- cutting the Merchandise discount, etc..)

Just found it weird-- anyway, back to your regularly scheduled enjoyment of WDW !!!

Thanks for posting. Let me add to the "why nots"

Why not DVC?

Totally agree with that as well--- just seems to me like they are taking a very small sample size-

I mean, IF they follow thru with plans to have "reserved seating" for the Parades/Fireworks, (Using "Magic/FP+") are they going test that using only guests staying at "Deluxe" resorts as well-- ?

I agree with this. I've been looking into DVC and the perks seem to be diminishing

I mean, it seems very obvious that they are targeting a specific group for testing (at least for this test)--- but reading "Screamscape" months back, when the talk of "FP+" first started, there was also no mention of DVC/AP at all !!!

And another thing----are the people at Disney under the impression that the guests staying at Value resorts dont want to experience "BoG" as much as everyone else ??

Truthfully, I'm not paying an awful lot of attention to the whole Fastpass+ (or whatever it's going to be called) thing because there are just too many unknowns, and I just don't usually stress about vacations. With that said, I don't think WDW is doing itself or it's customers any favors with the lack of information. Also agree that just targeting the deluxe resorts for these percs smacks of favoritism.

At first glance it looks like they selected the resorts closest to the MK. But where is the POLY? Hmmm?

I had a hard enough time getting too my ADR. Don't know how the day will work trying to get to scheduled ride times.

The vast, vast majority of Disney guests who visit on a day-to-day basis are neither AP holders nor DVC members. So perhaps from a "statistically significant results" standpoint for the feedback they are hoping to obtain, they want to debrief people who represent the wide majority of visitors. Just a guess. AP holders and DVC members tend to be far more sophisticated (demanding??) than the typical visitor, so perhaps they want to hear from run-of-the-mill guests. Also, as far as AP holders are concerned, I think it would be hard to randomly select them for a test that requires immediate results. The wide swath of randomly selected AP holders might be disproportionately skewed toward people who don't intend to visit for the next 4 months. Also, the randomly selected guest from the resorts that they are testing from can and will include some AP holders, and probably in the same proportion as AP holders exist amongst the general population. So I don't think that one can conclude that AP holders are left out of the test. If AP holders who stay on site make up 1/100th of all guests, then it stands to reason that 1/100th of all randomly selected test subjects will be AP holders.

Ok, so lets put aside the AP/DVC members for now---- Not sure if using guests from three Deluxe resorts is the way to go, but maybe thats just me--- As a previous poster said, (at least as far as this test goes), Disney seems to be leaning in a certain direction. If they really wanted the test to be comprised of "run-of-the-mill" guests, wouldnt it be a better idea to have the test/study include "Value" & Moderate" resort guests as well-?

Yes. The omission there is quizzical at best.

Yep, thats what struck me---- I made the comparison before regarding the possibility of "reserved seating" for the parades/fireworks-- (Imagine if only those guests for this study had 1st crack at getting ADR's for "Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party"?)

Wow !!! That would be a mess !!!

Not sure how I feel about scheduling counter service. We like that we eat lunch/dinner/breakfast when we don't have an ADR kinda on demand. As far as testing it with just deluxe hotels that doesn't bother me. They have to pick someone why not the people who are paying most $$ per night?

Disney is a business tfor APs anc DVC people they know they have your business no need to make U happy as they got you and your $ already commited. Value and Mod people well see if U spend more $ then you will get more perks.

As much as we love WDW and Disney it is all about making money. I do not blame them at all, but we as concumrs can make choices as well. If you do not like the deal or money value being offered you do not have to go.

We too noticed that AP holders are seeming to getting less offers, so now instead of buying APs and taking three trips in a year ( usually a total of 40-45 days). Last year we did one extended weekend and this year's plan is the same. We save a lot and still get our Disney fix.

No complaints just stating the facts.

This is a test. It is only a test. They are only taking a small number of people. It is only ONE meal in an entire stay. For a limited time. How do you extrapolate this to denying "perks" to a large segment of the WDW-going public?:confused3

It's a whole different ballgame if they go online full time and only deluxe guests at monorail resorts are allowed to pre-book their BOG lunches. But does anybody actually see this as a possiblility? Just trying to inject a little reality into this dreamscape.

This, this, THIS! No need for me to retype it--you said exactly what I was thinking. Let's all take a deep breath.

It's just a test. I don't get being upset that only certain resorts are being used for testing. Maybe they picked resorts near MK where guests could be more likely to participate in the test.

Just to be clear, personally, I am not upset in the least. I was simply pointing out that if one wants a true statistical sampling, the test should utilize a more diverse test group. I don't see this as a denial of a perk whatsoever. But the feedback will certainly come from a skewed socioeconomic grouping which could be easily avoided by simply adding one Value property to the test. Were one to do a test for feedback on food quality, one would not randomly sample guests who have reservations at Victoria & Alberts and leave out all people who have ADRs at Chef Mickey's. That said, the test is probably geared more toward efficiency than quality, and as such, it shouldn't matter all that much who they use as the test subjects.

I want to clarify that as well, per my original post (There are far many more important things to get truly upset about)--- I just felt that it was a bit odd that they only selected guests from the Deluxe resorts--- (JimmyV said the same)- Maybe it WAS just logistics---
