Hi all! I am deciding between AoA and the Poly. We have only stayed at the CR and offsite. We loved the accessibility of the CR, however the AoA would save us $500 and the All Star Music would save us even more. We are a family of 5. Two adults and three kids age 10, 8 and 3.5. :) Our dates are Aug 5-11, so lots of heat! We are most concerned with transportation ( we take breaks during the day) and pool fun for the kids. Oh, and MK is our park fave. :goodvibes:

I'd stay at AofA. I found it very busy and loud, but the suite is the best option for a family--two baths, kitchenette, separate bedroom for mum and dad. I've also heard the values have good bus service, though we always rent a car.

An option you might not have thought of is renting DVC points. It will put you in a one bedroom villa for about the cost of a mod. Go to the DVC board for more info. I think that is your best option--comfort and price wise.

Well, I've looked at renting points, however we are a military family and get a significant discount on rooms so it's more cost effective to get a room through Disney. Thanks for the feedback on AoA though. :)

My choice would be the Poly. The pool is great as it backs up to the beach with a view of the castle in the distance, MK is just 2 monorail stops away, the beach is great for watching the fireworks, Captain Cooks is great for quick CS meals/snacks, and the tropical theme/atmosphere is beautiful. We've never stayed at a value, but the Poly is our favorite resort and we love everything about it.

My family of 5 loved the Cars suite at the AoA last year. The resort is beautiful. The rooms are very comfortable, and will give you a lot more space. The suites are substantially larger than any of the deluxe rooms, and provide the parents some privacy by having a queen bed and master bathroom in a room separate from where the kids are sleeping. If you are spending most of your time at the parks, with breaks for a nap and a swim, the AoA is fabulous! We loved the Big Blue Pool.

If you are going to spend a lot more time relaxing at the resort, then a deluxe hotel would be a better bet. This year my family is staying at the Beach Club because we will likely spend a lot of time at the resort and also because our kids love Epcot and DHS.

You really can't go wrong, though. All the hotels are pretty cool, both values and deluxe!

Thanks MickeyNut and AliceIn, we will have one day w no parks so I'm leaning more towards the deluxe. The extra money I could save at the value is haunting me though. Agggh. Either way we'll be in Disney so I can't complain. ;)

Poly! It is wonderful. Truly worth being so close to MK - especially in the heat when you probably want to come back midday to take a rest.

We are doing two rooms at a value in May after having been spoiled by the Poly in January. But the difference is much more than $500. IF it was only $500 I would be all over the Poly in a hot second. :goodvibes

Thanks Megsie! I think I have settled on the Poly and we will ride over and check out the AoA while we are there to see what we think. I'm excited for our trip we've heard nothing but great things about the Poly.

We are a a family of 5 as well... We tried AoA cars suite... Loved the room...but we are going to do deluxe until we really can't anymore... We just love the atmosphere and convienence of deluxe better...

So I vote poly!

Thanks lov2b, I think that's what we will do as well. ESP with my 3 year old and really hot weather, the monorail is very convenient. Perhaps we will do Values when they are older and want to do things like buy souvenirs. For now I can get away with bringing them from home.....thank goodness!

why not both, i sometimes spend a few nights in one and move to another,
stay at the poly when you go to the magic kingdom and epoct use the monorail, move to a all star when you go to hollywood and animal kingdom.

My mom and I went back and forth about this for awhile. Ultimately, it was the age of my kids (6 & 4), our preference for the MK and afternoon breaks that led us to the Contemporary. I think the covenvience of the Poly during the heat of August will be invaluable! Have a great trip!

Well, based on what you said (MK, going back to the room each day, heat) I would definitely pick the Poly. As long as you don't mind being in one room. The Poly rooms are quite large compared to most rooms at WDW. The theming is great, the pool will be fun for the kids, the beach is nice and relaxing... and you will have boat and monorail access to the MK (plus easy monorail access to Epcot). We like the Poly, esp in the hot weather -- the tropical theming works well with the heat and it's so easy to get back and forth from the parks. Also, there are good dining choices there and you will have a nice view of the fireworks and the EWP from the beach.

This. I totally agree! We stayed at Poly when our kids were 2,4 & 7. We LOVED that we could push the double stroller onto the monorail at the end of a busy day. The younger 2 would fall asleep on the ride. We would push the stroller right up to the beach bar and the adults would have a cocktail, the oldest son would play with new friends, and the youngest 2 slept in the stroller. It was perfect! Especially on fireworks nights. No crowds to deal with...we'd watch them on the beach!
