We closed on a resale through Fidelity on Jan. 12th. Here it is Feb. 16, and we are still not in the Disney system! Every time we call Fidelity, we are told that it should be done to call Disney. We call Disney and it's not! I've read where people are in the Disney system in as few at 3-4 days. It's been over a month. Has anyone had this experience before??? I'm beginning to panic!

It sounds like something that your broker or closing agent should be checking on for you. Sorry to hear of the delay. :(

If Fidelity doesn't straighten this out for you .... I won't use them ....please keep us advised but they should be working on it.

This is not normal. I have done 3 add-ons with TTS and my contracts were in the system within a week of closing. Make sure you talk to DVC member administration. They are the ones who enter the information into the system.

A similar delay happened with me when I used the closing company that goes with TSS. In my case the wrong contract number was printed on my paperwork, so MS had no record when I called. Thankfully, someone eventually had the bright idea to transfer me to member accounting who was able to look things up and figure out the problem. Perhaps you could give them a try next time.

Btw, an incorrect contract number seemed pretty egregious to me as far as sloppy closing papers go. When I called the closing company back to let them know what had happened, they didn't even apologize. It left a bad impression.

Good luck!

This doesn't sound right. You should definitely pursue via Fidelity or the closing agent. Good luck.

Something is obviously wrong.

Anybody can make a mistake, but to keep telling you to call Disney a month after closing is really weak.

They may have received their sales commission at closing, but their job is not done until your account is set up and usable.

If you don't get satisfaction quickly, I would contact the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation -- http://www.myflorida.com/agency/14/ . They are the nice folks who regulate the real estate industry in Florida -- including brokers and closing agents. Give them the name of the realtor and closing company and all the info on your purchase, closing, and unfulfilled completion of the transaction.

DBPR should be able to build a fire under the people blowing you off.

barrylisa,
You've been given good advice for getting the problem resolved. Over a month is above average for getting the points loaded onto a contract.

In the meantime (since it is a 3 day holiday weekend), have you looked on the orange county web site to see if your deed has actually been recorded? If it hasn't shown up there, then Disney won't have it yet. In my limited experience, I have noticed that it sometimes takes Disney 2 or 3 weeks to load the points onto the contract after it has been recorded.

Get the contact information for the closing company that Fidelity used and call and ask for a copy the information that they sent to DVC and the date that is was sent.

Then call Member accouting and find out what happened since something got lost.

No advice or suggestions, just compassion.... sorry you are going through this! It takes a little of the joy out of buying when problems are encountered.

I closed on mine back in early dec and it took about 7 days and all was good . But i did use the TSS that could be the difference .

I had something similar happen to me on my first contract. It had been two weeks since my deed had shown up on the comptroller site and I still wasn't in Disney's system yet. I spoke with someone in member administration who told me the packet sent over with my contract was missing a page and they had contacted First American Title but hadn't heard back from them.

It took me contacting the title company to get the ball rolling on re-sending the packet. And then I followed up with the contact at MA to make sure they had everything they needed. It took another four or five days to get me inputted into Disney's system and my points loaded after that.

Well, today a representative at Fidelity spoke with my husband twice, and assured him that she had taken care of it personally today. I could never get a call back from the title company! We are supposed to call Disney tomorrow to verify that it is now in our name. I'll be on my phone at 7 am sharp! I'm so frustrated because we were wanting to reserve a room using our points for one night before and after our cruise in May. I'm going to be very upset if I can't get a reservation anywhere! I really don't want to have to pay out of pocket!

Thanks for all of your suggestions! I'm truly hoping this is over. I have a feeling it's on the title company! They aren't very good about returning calls. All of our paperwork from the title company arrived several weeks ago, and looked to be all in order. I have to say the lady from Fidelity he talked to today seemed to go above and beyond to rectify the situation. We will see....

Just so you know, the process of Disney setting up your account and putting the points in is often a two-step, two-day procedure. You'll often have the account set up one day, but no points until the next day. If a weekend intervenes, that could be Friday-Monday, which would be frustrating for you.

Hopefully the lady from Fidelity really did get things straightened out today. It's hard for me to understand how she could fix a one-month mess in one day, but we'll hope for the best.

You are far more charitable than I would have been.

Good luck, and I hope you get the ressies you want after all this needless delay.

eekk! Hope it is all resolved. We are in our 5th week since our contract went to ROFR??? Called our TBS agent and kinda thought her explanation was weak, that Disney ROFR takes 3-6 weeks and normal closing is about 3 months??
Not what I have read here. I will call her again Friday and then be in contact with her on a every few days basis. Who was your title company? Good Luck!

I called Disney the following morning, and we ARE FINALLY in the system. Our points aren't in the system yet, but at least the contract is in our name. Now we are just waiting on the points to show up. :) Of course, after registering on dvcmember . com, there is no availability at Beach Club for the 2 extra nights we needed (although, they probably weren't available in January either!). Hoping our points are available soon, since Boardwalk had availability for before the cruise, and Saratoga had one for after!

Thanks for all the suggestions, advice, and support! I can't wait to hear "Welcome Home" :)

Our ROFR took 5 1/2 weeks. I attributed it to Thanksgiving and Christmas time. Hopefully you will hear something soon!! :)

What a relief for you. You will have many years to get to BCV. We have been members since '08, and haven't gotten there yet, but we're hoping for some time next year. Enjoy your DVC!

I'm glad that things are working out for you and congrats on your purchase. Yes, I know it was a grueling process (more so for you than is typical) but think of all the money you saved! :) Hopefully it was worth it.

Things are looking up! And don't be too disappointed about the resorts you end up booking for pre and post cruise. These very short stays are actually the perfect chance to try out places you might not want to book for a long vacation. And you may be surprised to find a new resort you really love! Be sure to let us know when you finally get those reservations.
